[SOLD] Cucho Hernandez

Let’s hope these homegrown players are on the way.

 

At least there is some communication from the club, but it's a laughable excuse. Get rid of the dross like Sema before Cucho.

 

Yep...utterly ridiculous reason given for the sale. Wants younger players!! Cucho is only 23!! FFS. Cucho should have been one of the priority players who would easily fit into the 11 out of 18 non-home grown players rule. It's all b0llox as we sign a 25 yo Ivorian on the same day as we sell Cucho. So he's not as young and he's still non-home grown......and the club wonder why fans don't trust them.

 

In fairness the club statement does say Rob wanted a different profile of non homegrown player

 

Unfortunately he's simply ended up with random player #297 from Bayat's heap.

Our signings from him probably just get drawn out of a hat.

 

apparently, according to Giaretta, we couldnt gaurentee him playng time. Given our squad depth, no wonder that Cucho was "open to a move" - a phrase that implies it was suggested to him rather than something he was necessarily seeking.

 

I have a bridge to sell to anyone who believes a word of this.

 

So that’s a non homegrown goalkeeper and a non homegrown forward signed so far this window.

At least Cleverley, Gosling and Cathcart are home grown, plus Fletcher if he ever re-appears.

Their places in each matchday squad seem certain.

 

Reading this from the club, I have to say, I’m filled with a quiet confidence about our chances this season. Finally, all of the time and effort we’ve invested in developing our young, home-grown players is going to pay dividends.

 

Giaretta is an idiot. Adds nothing except nonsensical snippets. Gibbering fool.

 

******* hell you couldn't make this **** up we truly are a special sort of club. We have a whole host of **** foreign players who we could move on but it makes perfect sense to sell one of our best players and bring an Ivorian player in.

 

That explanation definitely makes it worse for me. No wonder they never used to communicate to fans.

 

In fairness not many of our other foreign players are going to interest any clubs! Apart from us who would sign a winger aged between 18 and 64 for £3m

Signing Bayo has already made it a B+ for me. Can’t wait till the end of the window to put an A again. Exciting times ahead.

Our club is run by incompetents.

You can count on one hand the number of decent signings we’ve made in the last three years.

Balance that up with Tufan, Rose, Fletcher, King, Kalu, Nkoulou, Kayembe, Perica, Garner, Murray, Pussetto etc etc and it’s naive to imagine we are capable of having a decent window this summer. It’s the same idiots making the decisions.

 

Next week they’ll sell Pedro and Giaretta will claim RE wanted to ensure Sema’s place in the squad is unharmed.

 

My guess is Edwards is left with about 12 or 13 non-HG players in the squad at the end of August.

 

Christ on a bike, this is a bad excuse for selling one of our better players.

 

My sources tell me that one of the first things Edwards said to Gino was "bin off the little Colombian fella, I need Vakoun Bayo instead."

This deal really annoys me, probably overly so.

There's things he's not good at defensively but he's exciting, likeable and scores goals. What's the benefit of selling him in contrast to the unlikeable dross that we will undoubtably sign in his place....that based on last season's crop will deliver even less

 

Cucho didn’t want to be here. What’s the point in keeping a player who’s heart isn’t in it. That’s the reality. Yes we all wanted him to stay, yes we all believed he would excel in the championship, but at the end of the day he wanted out. He made that very clear. So selling him makes perfect sense. I don’t want any players here that don’t want to be here. We had that last season and look what happened. No fight, no desire, no heart, no passion, just all individual performances in a completely dysfunctional team who didn’t like each other.

So if getting rid of players who don’t want to be here for players that do, means this season will be far more enjoyable than the dross served up last season, then I’m all for it. I want players who play with pride when they put our shirt on.

 

Giaretta seems to think he would've stayed if we could guarantee him game-time though.

 

After reading Giaretta’s comments, he’s firmly throwing it at Edward’s door why Cucho is going.

Rob Edwards would never have seen Cucho play, never have trained with him and never got to know him as a person. So why would he have thought his game time would have been limited?

Think logically folks. This has NOTHING to do with Edwards. This is the board’s decision. It frustrates me that they’ve heavily implied it was down to Edwards.

He may well want only 11 NHG players, but he should be the one to choose who that 11 should be. That’s clearly not the case.

Also, apparently Cucho is not the type of profile of player Edwards wants. Again, I seriously question that. All coaches want an industrious, technically gifted forward in their team. There is no chance, looking at our current squad, that Cucho doesn’t get into the 11 NHG group.

 

This isn’t the reason according to the nonsense Giaretta just put out (which incidentally is getting lapped up Twitter as evidence of the club communicating and changing its ways).

 

Not being funny, but where did he make it clear he wanted out? I’ve not seen anything from Cucho to suggest such a thing.

 

No player should be guaranteed game time though. Every player should work their butt off everyday in training and earn the right to start the next game. Again the problem we had last year was players starting because of who they were rather than what they did. That culture has to change. So players that don’t want to earn their spot and work hard to keep it can clear off as far as I’m concerned.

I’d still argue that in the list of non-homegrown players we’ve got, he should be right at the top of those who’d get the most minutes next season, particularly with the likes of Sema still hanging around like a bad smell.

 

Of course it's a lot more complicated than saying "I want to start in every game this season" and the club saying yes/no. But obviously both parties would know that you can't guarantee those sort of things before a ball has been kicked - however the player can say that they want a bigger role in the first team compared to last season for instance and the club can either say yes (obviously under the conditions of form/attitude/training etc) or no.

I find it baffling we said no to that considering the departures expected and the decrease in league quality.
