Most of the teams are actually about Championship quality, with the others being top half of league 1 level.

 

Holding back judgement until they have been given a chance but based on relative track records and what we know today, I'd probably agree. Hopefully better to come though ??

£20mil is about equal to the record sale from the MLS, which was Almiron to Newcastle, and a big waste of money.

After him there have been a couple at about £15mil, one to the Saudi league, and a youngster to Augsburg who has yet to really show anything. Below that none more than £11mil or so.

If no PL or La Liga clubs were wanting to take him for about £9mil, then none are going to suddenly pay £20mil for him just because he's scored a few goals in a tinpot league.

 

I remember lots on here jumping the gun about him being a world beater after that as well.

 

Andre Gray also had the best goals per minute for us throughout basically every season he was at the club...

another who wasn't cut out to being anything more than perhaps a super sub.

 

Instead of making yourself look like an even bigger plonker with every post, why don’t you just admit you were completely wrong about him?

For better or worse I feel Pozzo is betting everything on JP. Two relegations hasn’t done anything for his value and I’m not totally convinced he has a higher ceiling than did Cucho.

 

Yeah that 50% of anything over 20 million will be huge unless he goes for 20 million

 

You’re being sarcastic, but when you take the exchange rate into account, suddenly the deal looks a lot more favorable. Gino doesn’t do bad business.

Pretty much the best time ever to sell USD to buy GBP at the moment, so if we get paid any sell on profit in USD in a few years time when he’s sold, rest assured the current exchange rate is the rate Gino/the Cogs will be using.

 

Yes. Looks a great deal after Gino and Scott foresaw the £ ex rate crash. We no longer need to sell Sarr or Dennis and even made a sneaky bid for Salah.

I think JP is also a victim of being at a terrible club during a crucial stage of his development.

He's got good control and general ability, but nothing outstanding elsewhere. He's a much better footballer than Sarr, for example, but Sarr's pace makes him more saleable.

He needed to be at a club where he was given a role, in a system, by a coach and given time to develop. As it is, he's a 6/10 player in any of 5 or 6 positions.

 

I know it’s an easy comment and he’s nowhere near good enough for their teams - but in a purely development way, give raw talent like Joao Pedro to a Guardiola or Klopp and he’d progress massively.

Our model hasn’t really helped him at all. I’m pleasantly surprised he hasn’t demanded to leave this summer personally.
