Lots of rumours going around Twitter that Cucho is joining Columbus Crew in MLS.

He’s followed their president on Social Media and their official account are teasing a signing…

Mental if we have done this and that’s where he ends up.

Only mental if we don’t get a good fee. He’s asked to leave, so if Colombus are offering good money, then it’s not really our concern that he won’t be playing at the highest level he’s capable of.

As much as he's a great prospect he wants to leave and seems quite honest about that. Good luck to him. Hope we get a sell on (that we actually know about)

Sounds like its going to be about £8m. If only Udinese just paid up for Pussetto instead.

Terrible career choice for the lad but can also understand the desire to get out of here. Just surprised it wasn't to a La Liga club.

Duxbury giving quotes saying he wants an energetic young squad a few days ago. Then selling of our best young energetic players for a pittance and trying to replace him Benick Afobe and Ilija Nestorovski. Bloke is a liar and not sure why anyone is getting excited over those interviews or see them of proof of change. His words are not worth the paper they are written on

I’m not defending it - I think it’s a terrible move for the player, the club and also done too cheap (if the fee is correct)

But I wouldn’t lose my mind about the links to those 2 players you mentioned - I’ve asked and there’s not in them (from what I’m told anyway). Plus, sadly…I think Cucho wants out. And Colombian's do like to play in the MLS for whatever reason. Not to mention he’s apparently tripling his wage to go there (if true). Probably furthers his immediate hopes to stay in the international squad.

A short-sighted move all round and certainly thought he was someone who would fit in with Edwards style.

These relegations certainly have cost us in terms of talented players.

I’d like Watford to grow thicker skin and hold players to their signed contracts rather than the ‘you can go if you want’ remit - but maybe the interest/amounts for Sarr and Dennis aren’t going to be as expected and other players have to make up the shortfall.

Who knows. But I’d be gutted if Cucho does leave.

It is frustrating to lose a good young player but the club have done the right thing by cashing in on a player than doesn't want to be here, plus I think he only has two years left on his deal. I would've liked over £10m but I guess we won't be told the actual fee. Unfortunately relegation along with the financial mess we've put ourselves into means that every player is available if a decent offer is made.

It would be very understandable if he wanted to remain in a top flight league considering he's held his own in the top flight for 4 years, but I don't think the Spanish clubs who had been linked with him would have paid that much. From his perspective I'd be disappointed if he went there, but ultimately if we get that money, we can't afford to give a **** about that

FWIW, I still do think that fee is on the low side for a player of his quality, even if we have gone down and he only has 2 years left on his contract

Their fans have been saying it's him for a while and he's just started following their head of football on Instagram. Plus @LouOrns has said that a US journalist has told him it's happening. We'll have to wait and see...

    Fair enough .

Wants a move closer to home ?
We’re that skint anyone worth money goes?

Would be disappointed to lose Cucho - young , talented and usually gives his best.

Just leaves us with Pedro as a first team forward unless we count Fletcher?

CC's all time record transfer is £6.5m. Would be surprised if we get more than the rumoured £8m. It's not an awful fee for a forward that doesn't score many goals, wants to leave, and has 2 years on his contract.

But, I think he has potential and is a rare likeable player in the squad. Another case of the **** ups of a relegation season ruining the opportunity of seeing a promising player fulfil his potential in a Watford shirt, like Estupinan.

If he was as rated as Estupinan then a La Liga club would be pulling out the stops to sign him instead.

Yeah I asked Patrick Murphy and he said it’s deffo him. But there’s nothing on our side about this.. so I kinda think it’s going to be nonsense

Will be gutted if true. He's the type of player imo who could thrive under the new boss.

5 goals and 2 assists in 1143 minutes of PL football.

Real shame if he goes, he'd be great in the Championship and is one of the few likeable players in our squad.

Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

I really wanted him to tear it up when he finally got his work permit. But... he's just not as good as we'd hoped. Gets a free pass as young, tries hard, capable of the spectacular. Does an awful lot of disappearing in games and running down blind alleys though. Think he'll have a decent enough career in crap leagues but won't ever play for anyone good.

Got to disagree. I see good things in him and still has massive potential. I expect mistakes from younger players and usually accept them but with a decent coach and more minutes he could easily hit double figures plus in the Championship.

I think he's one of those "too good for the championship, not good enough for the Premier League"

Maybe. At the moment we're in the Championship and I believe he will be fantastic for us if he stays. What I'd like to see is him as one of the two main strikers, his desire alone will cause defenders problems let alone his talent.

Yeah, desire is an important quality and it's in short supply in our squad.

Tommy Mooney made a career out of it and he didn't turn out to bad. You can have all the natural talent you want but without application its fookin pointless.

Considering he'd probably be the best player in the MLS, I don't see why £8m is out of the picture...

A huge blow to our promotion hopes if he goes. The suggested £8.5m is rubbish too. We’re unlikely to be able to get that sort of quality through the door to replace him for that fee.

Far too many forwards will be leaving. Sarr, Dennis, Cucho and King all going. That’s too many and we’re unlikely to be able to attract similar quality in the Championship.

If our forward line ends up being Pedro, Archer, Afobe, Fletcher and Forde, then we’re not going up this year. A couple of decent forwards and the rest are mid-table (or lower) standard.

Agree with the overall point but we did go up last time with a finished Deeney, Gray, Pedro and Perica as our strikers.

Having said that, don't see many goals from midfield/wide players this time...

The squad was a lot stronger last time. We still had Capoue until January and then Hughes came back into the side. You forgot to mention we had Sarr too, who did make a difference. Won lots of cheap penalties in tight games.

It might be that Pedro will have to score a few more "Derby wondergoals" to keep us in the running. Backup to Peds and Cucho is very slim pickings at the moment. Sarr will be a massive miss in terms of ability, but I will not miss his attitude to games. Regardless of last season being a loss cause from the moment Norwich thumped us, post AFCON was unacceptable. I wish him well and I think he will one day play for a top side - he certainly has the ability and is still young.

He is clearly a talented footballer, and would definitely be an asset for us in the championship. However last season he tended to drift out of games. I don’t think it is imperative we keep him and if the fee is right would not be opposed to a sale.

The whole team drifted in fairness. As a two up top I believe he would be more involved than when he was played wide.

£8.5m for Cucho probably covers the full fee + wages for our new strikeforce of Afobe, Shane Long and Lewis Grabban

    Shrewd business from the Pozzos
