I’d make a clause that they have to pay us the $10m at the end of the season. It’ll be worth about £20m by then.

    Hmmmm….

Tough one this, because I like him and his enthusiasm and I was hoping a stable environment (if this belief in Edwards holds out) might turn him into a very good player.

£10M now is ‘ok’ but had he progressed as I’d hoped he could have been instrumental this season and been worth a lot more.

Guess all depends who comes in.

Its $10m not £10m isnt it? I had thought he could have been instrumental this season too and am some what disappointed he's going. Like you say i suppose it all depends on who they bring in though I cant help but think letting him go now could be a mistake.

As for him wanting out, I cant see why the club couldnt have told him no and kept him on for another season before selling him. We wouldnt have got less than what we've sold him for now

Culshaw just spouting the party line as always. I don’t think £10m is a bad fee (if that is what it is), but losing one of the three young hopes we have for next season (plus JP and Louza) just dampens our chances. The fact he is just spinning the positives is tedious as always,

Yeah, I mean, they let him and his familiar in the room with Edwards and their camera - we'll never hear another word about the Supporters' Congresses, or the harebrained delusions of the Stability.

Some good mental gymnastics here going from 'keep Cucho, quality player, will be good next year' to 'doesn't know his best position, hardly scores any goals, it's a good deal' in the space of just a few weeks!

Didn’t want to lower himself to play for us in the champ last time did he, so why would he be prepared to now, two years on? Thinks he’s too good for this league, which he isn’t, as shown by his minimal impact last season and his destination. Time to cash in our chips on this one.

Amazing cope - 'Scored about 5 goals'

    upload_2022-6-19_8-31-47.png

Apart from the utterly feigned nonchalance in the use of the word 'about' (he's played one single solitary season for us, just gone by - there's no 'about' about it, it's very easy to know exactly how many goals he has scored for us), those about 5 goals put him as our joint 2nd top-scorer in the league last season despite being given by far the least amount of time on the pitch, with comfortably the best goals per minute ratio of any striker; even Dennis.

I really don't know what fee people are expecting a relegated club to get for a bit part player with only a couple of years left on his contract, plus apparently he wants to leave. £8m-£10m seems like a pretty spot on valuation to me.

  17. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

Think the valuation is fine, not an amazing deal, but also not a terrible one, and if he didn't want to be here, we're better off getting something for him, but this rewriting of Cucho as a player, as if the Cucho that turned out for us last season wouldn't have been really good in the Championship, is funny

He had the best goals per minute ratio in the Prem of any Watford player last season. It’s a shame he got his injury when he did, as he was just finding his groove in the side.

He’s still only 23 with the best years ahead of him. The best option would be to keep him and let him have a good season in the Champ. His value is bound to go up then.

£8m isn’t a “wow” offer. It’s a bargain. I’m sure they could still get that even if he had an average season next year.

We’ve had him on our books for so long, yet to only make £8m is just poor business, imo.

We need a certain quota of player in the squad who can be a match winner. Making things happen from nothing. He’s hard working, enthusiastic and gets you off your seat. I love seeing players like that in our side. He’s exciting to watch.

I think it’s a mistake to let him go now.

    And of those 5 goals:
    - 1 proved to be the winning goal Vs Villa, and a contender for goal of the season.
    - 2 were in a 2-1 victory over Southampton.
    - 1 was against City (for us, that's our greatest achievement Vs City for a decade).
    - 1 was against Arsenal, in a loss but was goal of the season.

So his goals won 5 of our 23 points, in the equivalent of less than 13 matches.

Anybody who thinks he's crap is fooling themselves. We underutilised him, but when he played he was a game changer. Sometimes he lost his man defensively, and sometimes his decision making wasn't the best, but he's a very, very talented player who should've been a starter every game in the Championship. He's a big loss.

That said, good luck to the lad. I'd suspect it's more of a cultural and family move than career driven - 33% of Colombian emigration is to the USA. He may well have extended family/friends nearby. Also, they play in yellow.

Yes I agree he would have been very good in the Championship I'm sure, however if Joao Pedro said he didn't want to stay I'd be happy for him to leave as well. Getting a bit sick of players treating this club as a pit stop and bailing as soon as the sh!t hits the fan. Although I appreciate the club's way of treating players is exactly why that happens!

Whilst I agree with the sentiment and you're right, it absolutely has played a decent role in how rudderless and poor an atmosphere the dressing room is/has, we can only let so many of our actually talented players go and expect to have any chance at all of challenging for promotion again (appreciate I'm not telling you anything you're not just as aware of!).

We're realistically not going to turn into the FGR of the Championship with about 3 weeks of pre season featuring a good-deal of floating players on the sidelines and whatever free dross the Stability eventually chuck in. We're going to have to rely on some unfair advantages and the only ones we have are players theoretically too good for this level. And that's obv taking into account all the ones who are essentially already out the door.

I suppose it all depends how sick they are of this club, I'm sure they'd all like a move if it came off, but we should at least try to convince them that their future remains here. Hard to do when someone triples your wages!

The trouble with that is you just end up with players who can’t find a better club. We have a lot of dross at the club now, and you end up with little talent but players who don’t want to go anywhere as they know Watford is their best option. We also need players who can play at a higher level, as it’s these players who will take us there with them if you get them correctly motivated.

If you flood your squad with contented mid-table journeymen players, this is exactly what Watford will turn into. A mid-table Championship club.

Doesn’t want to play in the champ. Didn’t last time we were there. Yes we could force him but unlikely that will result in us seeing the best of him and a happy contented player. £10m seems about right, would prefer more of course. Seems an odd move for him but I guess may help with getting into the Columbian team plus sounds like a good increase in wages.

If he wants to leave and we are getting approx £10m then it’s a no brainer. Would like to have seen him play for in the championship but there really is no point keeping a play who’s heart is not in it. The challenge will be to replace him
