Who knows what he'll go for exactly, but a few PL teams are keen to buy him.

Meanwhile, if Cucho for $10mil was such a snip then one would have imagined one or two PL or La Liga clubs would have happily snapped him up for that, but they didn't.

 

Was in and out of the side in a team that was way out of its depth in the prem. no prem side was ever going to be interested .

 

Not sure that’s entirely true, as LR constantly likes to remind us when when assessing Sarr’s value, PL teams regularly take £30m+ punts on championship players who have never kicked a ball in the PL, Cucho actually scored goals at PL level and some good ones at that.

... anyway, regardless no PL clubs cared one bit about trying to sign Cucho. He clearly didn't do enough to impress.

 

I wouldn't have been shocked if £30m for Dennis materialised as his track record isn't demonstrably **** like Sarr. If this club can find anybody gullible enough to spend over £13m for the roadrunner that can't control a ball...

That seems like an eternity ago now!

 

Turns out he's guaranteed goals at League Two level.

 

And all in one of the best leagues in the world.

 

I don’t see Fletcher banging in goals of that quality in the MLS.

Apparently they’re just the same, Cucho just got given more opportunities.

 

I bet Cucho doesn’t hang around in the MLS for more than 12 months. Maybe even less.

He’ll score a hatful and then join someone bigger for about £20m.

We really should have said he’s going nowhere this summer like we seem to be doing with Joao Pedro.

 

Maybe finances dictated that we needed to sell one and could keep the other ? Maybe he really didn't want to stay and play in the champ and Pedro was happy to ?

There are always these "maybes" thrown around to try and justify the club's actions. That's fine, and "maybe" is all true. But......the bottom line is, he was contracted to Watford and didn't need to sell. Certainly we didn't need to sell for only £8.6m....which I will always maintain was pitiful. The club's valuation of him was far too low. We seem to always to sell on the cheap, but buy slightly above the market rate. No one can tell me Bayo is worth £5m given his career to date. We lost £2m on Sissoko in just 12 months. We did something similar with Dawson, signed him for £5.5m then sold for £3m in just over a year. Kalu £3m, Okoye £5m. It's all these stupid trades we keep doing and it all adds up over time. That's why we're so in debt. For every Dennis, we make 20 poor signings (Deeney's words), ok, probably an exaggeration but I think it's fair to say we make more poor signings where the player doesn't make an impact or we end up losing money than we do with the Richarlison's, Dennis' and probably Pedro's.

For me that just doesn't give me any confidence the guys making the decisions actually know what they're doing. All the talk from the top is we're going for promotion. How is that going to happen? Where is the leader on the field, where are your top strikers (assuming Dennis/Sarr go), do we have the best player in every area of the pitch? Wings backs I can make a case for.....but the rest, not a chance.....so how will be get promoted? I really think they believe coaching will be the answer and that a "rookie" coach (matter how promising he is) will make all the magic happen.

 

Because Pozzo has mismanaged our finances so badly we have to take any sale that comes along.

Somehow, rather bizarrely, that is actually used as a defence for having to sell players though.

He had the best strike rate, goals per minutes on the pitch, than anyone else for Watford last season in the Premier League....including Dennis. Not sure too many are aware of that.

It’s easy to dismiss - but the MLS is a better league than many realise. Plus the quality of his goals so far, it doesn’t really matter what league they are in. They are about technique and he showed that in the PL too.

As HB1 says, if we had to sell, £8.6m wasn’t enough when he had enough contract to run - especially when we went and blew over half that on bloody Bayo.

 

A player once signed by Manchester Utd couldn’t cut it in the MLS, therefore the standard must be quite high.

Good fact assuming correct. Good goals and attitude too - I don't think anyone would dispute that. It is a shame we won't get to see what he could have done in the champ given regular starts.

 

I doubt Gino will be giving the fee a second thought anyway, just like Zink, he made a profit and that’s all that matters. It doesn’t matter how much that profit was and what the wider implication of selling the player was, a profit is a profit and that’s the name of the game .

 

More than a shame, even worse when you look at the replacements.
