We'd still be in the prem if we'd lost that game :(

I firmly believe if the away fans clap a bit more and sing a bit louder then the boys can come away with a one goal defeat.

Don’t know what’s got over me but weirdly excited about this, Wolves feel like they’re about to slide to the end of the season and I fancy us.

    I promise I’m sober.

Now Borehamwood are out of the cup, our supporter group might be able to focus their complete attention on us. Although it’s not a home game on Sky so they might not.

A sad reflection on our fanbase if fans will only watch home games live on on sky and can't be bothered with the extra hassle and aggravation involved in watching a televised away game.

Nice bit of recent nostalgia in the OP. Loved that goal, loved that time of the season and have very fond memories of that team overall.

I remember MOTD2 did a special on our goals at the end of the programme because we had scored so many good goals already. Have tried finding it but never with success (actual success not the Isaac variety).

Wherever I’ve looked it says it’s just the Leeds game and not ours?

They don't bother with the small club's fixtures.

  11. Yes sorry, I meant I saw the Leeds game was on tv so went on my fantasy premier league and saw our game was on the same night too. Ours isn't on TV. Think the Leeds game is an Amazon rearranged game so they get to show it whenever it's moved to.

Our record at Wolves is poor (only three league wins although loads of draws) but there have been some memorable encounters with them in addition to those already mentioned.

2007/08 was the only season we’ve done the double over them - the first win was a bit of a smash-and-grab raid at Molineux on the opening day with Stewart and King, converting a penalty won by Kabba, scoring in the last few minutes after we were trailing 1-0, and the second was a 3-0 win at the Vic with Kabba scoring in the first minute. Those results combined turned out to be decisive as we undeservedly squeezed into the play-offs by almost the narrowest of margins (if Wolves had lost the home game 2-0 they would’ve got 6th place) - mind you, they didn’t deserve it either after allowing players like Stewart and Kabba to influence the results like that, especially as in the return fixture we didn’t have King (he’d just gone to Wigan)!

There were also the 5-0 and 3-0 wins at Molineux, the first in the 1983/84 season when Wolves were plummeting from the top flight to the fourth division, and the second one in the FA Cup in 1979/80, one of many remarkable results during the first GT era, when Wolves were 6th in the first division and we’d just been promoted back to the second and were finding our feet. Anyone here have any recollection of those games?

    1-2 to Watford here .

Luther brace and a consolation from Steve Bull to send the home fans into a frenzy followed by a pint at The Garrison all paid for by order of The Peaky Blinders .

Oh, and there was the 10-0 defeat at Wolves in 1911/12 in an FA Cup replay when Watford were a non-league side - would be fascinating to find some info about that, I searched the Times archive but that game got no more than a brief mention.

You've just reminded me of the Playoffs that season. 3-0 loss at the Vic... I know we did score once in the second leg. Hull dominated us over those games. But as you said, we needed a very late goal at Blackpool to sneak into 6th.

All to play for, if we win this and then our final 10 games we’ll finish 2 points ahead of our best ever PL points total.

That was a peak time for our club, and half you people were probably on this forum moaning. Just fuukin lol.

Unfortunately I missed the 5-0, which included the super-fast Mo Johnston hat-trick (in about 7 minutes I think). However I was there for the 3-0 Cup win. It was really the first indication that we might be able to compete with top division teams, even though it was well before the promotion team had been put together. My recollection is that we went toe to toe with them but it was 0-0 until the last 20 minutes when the Wolves sub (just one in those days) came on and promptly got injured leaving them a man short. We then cruised past them with Luther and Malcolm Poskett sharing the goals to reach a quarter final at home to Arsenal. We even gave them a decent game before going out 2-1.

Don’t be sore because some people had already identified Pozzo idiocy towards defensive recruitment. We were just lucky we had the maestro Gracia to work his wonders!

Ah, the first half of the 18/19 season was special. The team had a clear shape and style of play, everyone liked Javi, Deeney looked like a footballer again and Deulofeu and Pereyra were causing trouser tents on a weekly basis.

We genuinely had a mid table prem quality squad didn't we? It seemed Gino and Scott were football geniuses. Maybe they thought that themselves, might explain a lot.

Always hated the dog heads since the late 70s/early 80s when one of the locals congratulated us on our 3-0 FA cup win by chucking a brick through the rear window of our car. Great times.
I fancy us for 3 points tonight. COYH!

Probably had top 6 midfield. Still irrepressible Cathcart and Kaba at the back though. Gracia was a genius.

A lot of people blame the defence, but we conceded a similar number of goals in the relegation season compared to most of the previous 4. Take out the 8-0 loss at City, it's more than comparable. The issue was that we stopped scoring goals, our goals for that season was considerably worse than the previous ones.

We were a couple of decent centre halves away from a 7th place team. It was in their hands. Then we reached the cup final.

Brave attempt first half. More shots than wolves and more on target. Possession more or less equal. H-T 0-0. Encouraging.

Second half, VAR gives them a soft penalty after doing that back and forwards things dozens of times and then deciding that yes, Jimenez's leg WAS brushed just on the edge of the box as the ball was running out of play for a gk anyway.

Press forward in search of the equaliser. Couple of decent efforts. Couple of good blocks and saves. Get caught on the break around 78 mins - game over.

As you say for me and many other fans' this was the point of no return for us. Whatever the reason was, we just totally switched off. Whether or not that was down to Gracia coaching it, or the players were dreaming of qualifying for Europe by beating a team we been thumped by season after season, we will never know. Delafoo's goal in the semi final was worth the money on it's own, and the passion Deeney showed after scoring the penalty was easy to see.

Had Swansea beaten City in their semi (they had a real chance) - we may of done better. I still think we should of concentrated on trying to finish 7th - it was in our hands. But the 1-4 drubbing by Spam last day of the season told all you needed to know about the final to come.
