It is a list of how much the owners are worth not the clubs.

No problem Forza - yes, I'm pretty sure I remember that deals roundup too, it's just the added cost/benefit when you include the reputational/other risk of associating with Bayat given his shady character and, now, genuine criminal allegations. It's a risk, for certain, if nothing else. If nothing is ever tied to us, then it came off, and if it is then obviously it spectacularly didn't.

In an ideal world, I wouldn't be taking that risk, personally, nor would I be associating with a character like that. Then again, in Premier League club associate terms, he's practically Mother Theresa.

I agree with TVOR that we can still survive but only if we can be fortunate enough to get a good manager in even if it's on a deal till the end of the season. Every time I watch Leeds and Everton, I feel we don't even have to be very good to survive relegation this season. But when you think about the possibility of Roy still starting Cleverley, Kucko and Sema over Etebo and Kalu for the rest of the season you start losing hope really fast. I Cathcart hasn't been too bad recently and that's because of Samir and Kamara been better than the players they replaced. I will really like to see Sierralta paired with Samir in CB. I think that will make us more better defensively.

We seem to win games only when our rivals also win there games which is weird.

Some interesting stats relating to this season which indicate two ways it could go.

In 1999/00, we had only 15 points after the same number of games but then we rallied a bit, beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 and drawing with Spurs 1-1 at home. If we lose our next two games (which is quite likely) then we'll be on the same total as we were after 30 games that season.

Hodgson's Fulham side had the same number of points after the same number of games and were more adrift in the season they pulled off one of the greatest escapes in Premier League history:

However, in the next two games they picked up four points - something which is very unlikely with Southampton and Liverpool away next, so for the first time sadly I really think that's it.

Southampton has been very good recently before they lost to Newcastle. I won't be surprised if we get a 1:0 win there. Liverpool attackers have been struggling lately, we could steal a 1:0 win there or a draw at worst. But all my predictions depend on one thing: IF WE DON'T CONCEDE IN THE FIRST THIRTY MINUTES! And I will hope Roy will make some positive changes to squad after two consecutive defeats like Etebo for Cleverley and Sierralta for Cathcarth. I know it will be Kucko for Cleverley and Kabasele for Cathcarth though. Am even seeing a real possibility of Roy starting Sema on the left wing against Liverpool because of Salah.

Saints also got thumped by Villa before Newcastle loss so this feels prime Watford to the rescue of a faltering team!

I would say this Watford team is less likely to “steal a 1-0 win” at Liverpool than Leicester were to win the league in 2016.

Yep, the only thing our squad have a chance is stealing is a living. Which isn’t news at all. They’ve been doing it all season.

Or we were to steal a win at Liverpool for our only win at Anfield in 1999/00.

Unfortunately, that was the 'once in a century' moment. That game was one of 2 we have not lost at Anfield (15 defeats), the other a 0-0 draw in the cup, also under GT.

I'm currently worried at the prospect of another 8-0 job.

Hard disagree. That profit is meaningless. It's just on paper. Our team is still filled with utter gash from his network.

I missed that, I never knew they lost the game before the Newcastle match. Regardless, I can't see us losing three consecutive games under Roy especially when the third game is away from home. It's either a draw or a win for us, except if we concede in the first thirty minutes.

I agree with you, but l was told by the several members on here that it just couldn't be true. As you say, it's in the public domain.
You are right about some rich owners. Many don't want to waste money.
It is alledged the Richard Hall, seen as the saviour of Newcastle United a few years ago, took out far more out of the club than he ever put in to it. Yet, Geordie fans love him.
There is FFP, but many clubs easily find away round this.
I use Bournemouth as an example again on FFP. That club sold a few players, but still owed over 85% of the transfer fees to each player former club. I am not an accountant, but l do know two who are heavily involved in the dealings at football clubs.
I have read a lot of private paperwork regarding one club. You will not be surprised at how the books are 'cooked'.
I think or hope that this Abramovich issue will shed more light on how clubs are run.
I don't think anything will change, but we can hope.

PL and EFL FFP are separate to each other, but both work on a rolling three year basis. In the case of Bournemouth they escaped it last time because they got promoted, and this time around it won’t catch up with them until after the end of next season if they don’t get promoted, once their accounts for next season get published which will be some time after that. As far as EFL FFP rules are concerned, if they get promoted this season or next then they won’t affect them. It’s not really flouting them as those are the rules. They won’t have overspent for three consecutive seasons in the EFL if they get promoted this season or next. If they don’t get promoted that’s when it will catch up with them like Reading or Derby, unless they can somehow reduce the losses.

You’ve only got to look at Derby as an example of a rich owner gambling on getting promoted before the end of the third year of FFP. This is the gamble for the owners of championship clubs who don’t have the benefit of parachute payments, if they get promoted within 3 years then great, if they don’t it’s a points deduction so they essentially flush all that money down the drain and end up in a worse position than where they started. This is why just because a championship club owners is richer than Gino it doesn’t mean they’re spending any of their money.

Well, the profit isn't meaningless. It's massively important, especially when we waste so much money.

What gash is filling our squad? A back up winger we haven't seen enough of, an average midfielder and our top scorer?

It's not Watford profit. Its Ponzo profit. If we profited from trading with him, we wouldnt have such a **** squad.

And **** it is. Absolute ****. So the several players we've signed from his network have added to that ****, at great expense.

Only time i've ever been to Anfield - and what a time to of gone. Mooney wasn't it? Cannot remember the Liverpool side but I know they had Owen and Karl-Heinze-Reidla(sp?) up front. Baton down the hatches after we scored though. I do remember arriving back in Watford later in the night with people still cheering and a few cars beeped. Pretty sure we beat Bradford the next game too.
