Cathcart is about as far from a captain as possible to be. A meek person who cannot lead by example due to lack of ability.
30 mins of good football, too little to late, if we had taken this opportunity to scored a load I might have cared
Well, it is Birmingham, we're still a fair bit adrift in the play-off race, and the second half performance has left something to be desired, but we've belatedly begun to look more like a team rather than a collection of individuals. Probably (if not definitely!) won't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it's nice to win
Decent 3 points. Davis finally breaks his drought and even Bacuna looked good. Britt tried his hardest to **** up his goal but still managed to get it over the line. Thought Wilder managed the game well, decent subs at the right time. How we lost to QPR last week when they shipped 6 to Blackpool tonight is beyond me.
A step in the right direction against a poor Brum side, need to back it up with a win on Saturday now.
Extraordinary as Blackpool hadn't scored since the Matthews cup final! Thank goodness for a win. Something to build on perhaps?
Very strange game with excellent first 30 minute, followed by a dreadful first 20 minutes second half, But it gave me a clear indication of our weakness.... With our tails up, with decent possession we look a very decent side. However when the oppo get a period of possession and move the ball about we look a total shambles. What then follows is a complete loss of confidence which makes us struggle to get back on it. Today we managed to weather the storm but CW really needs to get in their heads and train them how to play a strong defensive formation without the ball. We really are terrible chasing shadows and diving in. (and fouling). Anyway decent overall performance possibly something to build on....
The club is irrefutably rancid. The team is better without Sarr. My entire belief system lays in ruins.
We were better than recently for 45 mins, scored two goals and could of had more, then reverted to type second half. Hogan should of scored right after the break and Bachmann made some good saves. Assombolonga and Davis even scored, stadium was half empty. We won 3-0, kept a clean sheet but are still need snookers to reach the playoffs. Nice to win again, but now Gino gets a repreive for a few days. We won, I should be happier, but this season has been a drain on us all, and it still doesn't excuse the rancid performance last weekend. Asprilla needs to start ahead of Bacuna, and we didn't miss Sarr one bit. On to Wigan - who are another struggling side. Is lightning going to strike twice? That is all.
I missed the first 15 minutes through picking up dinner and almost smashing my laptop through constant repetitive stream failure disorder, and as a result missed two long-awaited goals. My experience therefore was largely shaped by us starting to wind down and cede control a little after that, and the large parts of the second half in which we were utterly under the cosh. Still, Assombalonga's goal was objectively hilarious, and all thanks to some great work from Kone - was this the game he announced himself on the scene? I can't take any real indications for the future or predictions from this. As others have already said, it's almost certainly far too little, far too late at this point. Who knows if we'll even see the team from the first half on Saturday or that of the second? Bah.
6pts off the play offs when play started. If Blackburn win tomorrow at home to Reading we’ll still be 6pts away. It’s over.
Apart from watching/listening to the game, and then posting on a Watford forum 3 minutes after the final whistle of course. X Millwall would have beaten us tonight.
Considering they’ve already beaten us twice this season, do you have any more genius insights like that?
Hard to know what to think of that, very good first half then they should have scored 3 or 4 after half time before we added our third
With the fixtures we have left it shouldn’t be over. But with the way we are playing it probably is over as tonight, although nice, wasn't totally convincing apart from the first 25 minutes
I cannot think of another player who has actually tried so hard to miss (even falling over) and still somehow scoring. It was Gray-eque. Highlight of the night.
Apologies. I’ll explain further. We gave away far too many free kicks near our box, and a bigger/stronger/more aggressive side would have taken advantage. Sorry if you’re upset by the win x
Too little too late. Woeful second half that would have seen a much better team go on to win the game. Season is over bar a miracle. We need 5-6 teams above us to lose at least 3 games out of the 9 remaining while we win 8 out of 9. Could it happen, sure, will it, highly doubtful. Watford will be back to being a mid table nothing championship club that occasionally gets promoted, and occasionally flirts with relegation to league 1. Still, all the happy clappers will be delighted as they prefer the championship anyway and have “their” club back.
So a much better side than the side we played tonight, who have beaten us twice already because we gave away too many free kicks, would’ve beaten us again tonight because we did the same thing? Do you have Saturdays lottery numbers on you?
Was impressed with Wilders tactics tonight, at least how they played out in the first half. FBs pushed up like wingers at times with Louza and Kone dropping into the FB slots.
@Burnsy You absolute ****!!! I followed your instructions and was able to watch the game. We scored 3 times, and won. I didn't have a fcuking clue how to react. #raging
Good to get a win . Decent 1st half with some excellent pacy attacking play then had to ride it out 2nd a bit as Birmingham changed formation but generally solid enough .
