I'm judging Keane on his awful display against us in the play offs and Drinkwater on his less than impressive loan spell with us.

So you reckon you'll finish around mid table?

Drinky is a good player, improved a lot over the course of last season.

Not sure what to expect, I'm pleased we're trying to offload before we bring anyone in, which will most likely be loan deals.

The core we have is strong enough to compete, and until January were awesome. Our problem came with finding the strength in depth to keep it up. A starting XI containing Schmeichel, Morgan, King, James, Knockaert, Wood and Nugent should be looking at playoffs. Its when the likes of Vardy, Marshall and Whitbread have to step in that things go **** up.

The defence needs work, add a left back and a centre half and I'll feel a lot more optimistic about our chances.

Badu rejected the loan to Palace. :D

Saw this comment by a Palace fan re: Vydra:

Interesting that even other football fans have picked up on his agent being a prize ****.

EDIT: whoops, looks like that was a Watford fan posting on a Palace board. Should pay closer attention to the names I guess. :)

Interesting. Obviously massive if's and but's, but how do you see your season panning if you were to lose one or two of your key starting lineup? Whether that's through injuries or transfers. And moreover, how do you perceive your season going against other teams that are challenging?

Just curious of Leicester's chances from someone that isn't necessarily "UDINEZZ B CHEETED USSSS OUT OV WEM BER LEE11111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hull looking at Conor Sammon to lead their line to replace Austin who is crook. Awful signing.

Hull joining Palace in the Championship next season then?

Losing Morgan, King, Wood or Nugent would be terminal for our season. Our strikers scored in fits and starts last season, but Nuge and Wood are infinitely better than everything else we have to offer.

Morgan quickly became our most important player last season, this summer has already thrown up two squeaky bum moments regarding Wes, firstly the rumours that Forest want him back now they have some cash and the fact that he also got in a spot of bother with the local police after crashing his car into a fence after several brandies.

Leicester do well when the game is open, the squad is generally a quick and technically able one. We had some great games last season, against you guys, Bolton, Forest and Derby to name a few, because those teams didn't keep men behind the ball and flood the midfield, which we absolutely cannot cope with. To a degree its due to the fact that we don't posses any midfielders capable of repeatedly winning the ball back, but its also because of Pearson stubbornness as a manager. So next season I can see us beating the likes of Bolton and Wigan at home, but struggling against Reading and Leeds etc because traditionally they soak it up and play on the break.

I'm surprised more teams didn't look to exploit our full backs last season. Long diagonals towards Konch, runs between centre half and full back and appalling lapses in concentration from De Laet led to many goals. I constantly have the feeling when watching Koncheskey and De Laet that the unnecessary bundling of a winger in the penalty area is never more than 30 seconds away.

I think there's still enough about the club and the size of the contracts to keep the players we want to keep. Our academy facilities and coaching were awarded to the highest accolade last week. We, as fans keep getting told how good it is, keep reading the names of the players in matchday programmes that are winning trophies, but never seeing them anywhere near the first team. Hopefully this will be the year. Hopefully for the first time in my life as a City fan, the men upstairs are taking the longterm view.

And now I've just read that Beckford's move to Bolton is off. Some say because he wanted us to cover the drop in wages, others say its because Nugent is injured, others saying he was spectacularly binned last season because one more game meant a wage hike/extension.

One thing is for sure, the club is a ****ing shambles.

Illarramendi from Real Sociedad to Real Madrid for some ridiculous amount ( €38 million his buy out clause). I do like this player the new Xabi Alonso. he was quality for the U-21's hope he progresses as he has been doing

The legend that is Juan Carlos Valeron leaves Depor after 13 years to return to his native Las Palmas.
Legend for Depor and a lot of people in Spain, Not just for his football but for the person he is.
Iniesta said he would pay to go watch him play, Del Bosque said that he would not look out of place in the current Spain side (obviously if he was younger) and David Silva wears the 21 in his honour.
It is a sad day when a True legend leaves your club, he will be missed.

Is this Sevilla youngster Palace are signing actually good? Campana I think his name is?

Well he has been a regular for Spain's youth sides so he must be an ok player but in 2 years he has played 20 games for Sevilla only 5 last season and they are a club that if you are good enough then you will get to play.
I suppose it's a wait and see how he adapts but to be honest by the time he adapts they'll be back down in the Championship.
And if he was that good I would expect a) Sevilla to ask for more money or b) for him to go to a much better club.

As someone wrote in an article Wonderkid Illaramendi £34m to real madrid 'Wonderkid' Campana £2m to Crystal palace. riiiggghhhttt!!!!

Interesting. Do you forsee yourselves managing to shift the deadwood and strengthen? If not, I'm guessing you won't be able to bring a whole lot inwards in terms of playing staff, and as such it seems like us last season, you have great depth in terms of numbers, but in terms of quality, it's a lot more questionable.

Wasn't Alex by any chance was it. Sevilla are having to sell and sell. Luckily for most Spanish clubs their academies can replenish the gaps.

Adam Chicksen (MK Dons) to Brighton & Hove Albion. Attacking wingback.

Beckford has finally gone. Perhaps this means we can sign one of Man United underwhelming foetuses on loan now..

He came across as a bit of a ***** during his time with us, but good luck to him at Bolton. It just didn't work out.

Ince turned down the move to Cardiff. The Redbirds have also missed out on Wanyama from Celtic. Looks like they're having trouble recruiting.

EDIT: combined bids of 18 million for the pair. QPR mark 2?

Opinion on him? Don't know a great deal so assume he's better than Konchesky or Schlupp at LB?

Must be brilliant to sign an ex Tranmere player...... marquee signing.... oh hang on its the only signing

  21. Filbert

    Filbert Leicester supporting bloke

Having had a look at some Tranmere forums, they rate him but don't really think he's ready for the step up. At least Schlupp can be moved forward for his first full season as a striker, and Koncheskey will hopefully be sufficiently alert to prevent him sleepwalking through games.

A left side of Bagayoko and Dyer will ensure lightening pace and zero final product. Lovely job.

FFP ? Where is the fairness for Auxerre ? Something needs to be done about this. Monaco and PSG will turn Ligue Une into La Liga whereas in recent years despite the money pumped into Lyon, there have been some incredibly tight championship races.

However Pratini doesn't seem so concerned about these French clubs spending like the world is coming to an end.......

He is all they could afford Arakel. :) I heard Banks is resigning as well when Schmeichel junior disappears......

  26. Arakel

In fairness, the French governing body has tried to stop Monaco taking the p1ss, but Monaco are loaded and quite happy to go to court every time.

The problem is that Monaco are not breaking any laws. They're operating within the tax law of their principality, and is simply gives them a massive advantage over their rivals.

There is no real way the French authorities can stop what Monaco are doing, because their advantage stems from the massive tax differences. You can't impose a "fairness" tax on footballers contracted by Monaco just because France has high income tax levels; there is literally no way that would fly in court.

About the only thing the French can do is throw them out of the league, and I don't see that happening. Any player who wants to play in the French league will simply get an enormous wage at Monaco when compared to any other French league club. That's just not going to change.

I went to a local charity match yesterday involving former Leicester players vs some members/friends of Kasabian and assorted local sportsmen.

I came away convinced that Muzzy Izzet could genuinely still do a job for us.

If it is true Arsenal should snap bite Monaco's hands off for that price.

A little bit away from the glamour of Monaco but it seems Forest will be in for Charlie Austin. Seems a bit strange with the details of his failed medical at Hull that they want him considering the whole George Boyd thing.

Forest with a front line of Mackie, Austin and Hendo is pretty decent.

Ricardo Fuller, Simon Church and a certain Marvin Sordell are joining Charlton.. Sordell is in particular a very good signing for them! Powell seems to be doing well down there.

The bizarre thing is that if his transfer to Forest had gone through, Hull probably wouldn't have finished 2nd, and Forest might well have made the playoffs.

    Smallest margins, etc. etc.

Agree. Forest were on fire at the end of last season. I fully expect them to be up amongst it all this season. They are buying well. A mixture of experienced talent and some not so known faces.

As for Sords to Charlton. Brilliant move, for both. He'll do a job there and Chris Powell will give him the game time.

Agree with this. Comfortably top half but don't think they'll be challenging too much. Haven't really made that many quality acquisitions either.

I think that is what I am getting confused by, I thought he came back a lot later than he actually did. I reckon they'll make the play offs.
