Whoever it is, the Regime have to suck it up and give him the job into next season after relegation. Give it a good fight and if it doesn’t work, they have the chance to rebuild over the summer.

Otherwise, If it’s Martinez, what’s the point? Might as well give it to Fat ******* Sam for a few months.

Who said anything about drastically improving us, but having said that at least half of them certainly could DRASTICALLY improve us as you say and the others could also be very useful additions that Claudio has not really had much if any access too.

Emmanuel Dennis isn’t going to respect anyone after the honeymoon period, the fact he spends as much time on the ground as he does, shows what sort of person he is, he might have scored a few goals but they have dried up and don’t look like coming back any time soon!

He isn't going to get back to how he was until he gets over his AFCON sulk. That is clearly why he has transformed into a different player. His last decent game for us was... erm... I want to say Man Utd? Actually he was alright at Leicester in the Cup.

Dennis has been no different, I think people are reading way too much into it. When a team gets progressively worse, ofc he’s also going to be less effective. He’s a good player in a horrendous team, which has lost its way since City at home. The defence is awful, the midfield is awful — I’m not sure what people are expecting from the front line when they get no help pretty much 24/7

Like I've alluded to elsewhere, there's something about Watford that drags every player down to their very worst levels.

Surely some of our team/squad are competent premier league professionals, but on Friday night (and this was far from an isolated incident) they looked worse than hopeless.

There's something rotten in the Town of Watford

Agree, he’s also become too self indulgent with his play, which is probably half to do with his relative success and half to do with losing faith in Ranieri.

If you think about it logically, he’d be a moron to let not going the Afcon affect him and for him to start acting up and playing badly deliberately. This is his opportunity to secure a decent move to the best club possible. If he actually wanted to go to Afcon he would’ve said as much and probably refused to play. I mean he kicked off because he didn’t get the right seat on a bus, so he’s hardly likely to be shy about it is he?

I dunno. I remember being impressed earlier in the season with his work rate as much as anything.

For a supposed headcase, he made some lung busting runs to track back and support the full back and put some good challenges in. A marked difference over Sarr.

Since Acongate he's done the more typical winger thing of kind of getting back into covering position but not really doing anything much to hinder the opposition once he's got there.

There’s no pattern of play anymore. It’s basically go out there and do what you like and hopefully something comes off. I like Ranieri, but it’s objectively bad coaching the things we’re doing — yeah the players aren’t good, but at least put them in a position to do well. Dennis kept coming short vs Norwich, we didn’t utilise his skillset or what he’s been good at all season

Is that him not doing it, or is it an instruction? Because every single player isn’t doing what they did previously, which makes me think it’s a coaching instruction

Doesnt really matter who we get in does it? If we are in the Championship next season I would prefer a young upcoming hungry manager though, but, like I said, does it really matter when the people at the top are the same? If we do somehow manage to stay up then Claudio will keep his job obviously. I cant see there being a manager change before the end of the season.

In Leventhal's article he mentioned a player had told family that he expects Ranieri will get the push after Friday's result. There's probably nothing sinister in it, but with my conspiracy theorist hat on it sounds like the players had a plan to get him out and it's worked.

Wasn't there chatter a few weeks ago that players were unhappy with his methods? Obviously Rose, but wasn't there innuendo about other unrest

Good to know that the players win again and a new toxic culture of only playing for coaches whilst they are shiny and new has bedded in, in ultra quick time with a nearly whole new squad of Pozzos players.

AFAIK Ranieri has never clearly built a squad and given it an identity, as people say he wasn't the "coach" that made Leicester happen, he just sat above the real work being done by Cs and NP. His Fulham days tend to underline that and now with us he talks the talk but I truly believe our players are not getting much in depth coaching from him.? (other than "press" or "get back and cover".)
Players need to know exactly what the boss wants from them and what the intended team shape is all about.
6 weeks ago we were told it was all about hard pressing further up the pitch etc, but soon after we saw our formation revert to a type of 4411 with mainly just 2 players ever pressing.
We need a coach that has a clear idea how the team will play and getting the players to buy-in and understand it. Right now we look like 11 lost souls who can't work out what to do on the pitch and if they do they overthink it...

Not this nonsense again. Nigel Pearson has a pretty poor to appalling managerial record at every club he’s been at, yet he can somehow be responsible for winning the league without even being in charge? His only real achievement whilst actually being in charge of a team is avoiding relegation. Ditto Craig Shakespeare who was an absolutely awful manager when he tried it.

Ranieri has his faults and clearly needs to go at this point, but must we re-write history and throw common sense out of the window to make the point?

If they bring back Garcia and he saves us I might just start the process of reevaluating the cup final game. But honestly returning to someone you booted out before seems the craziest thing to do.

Surely we want someone who can bridge both a relegation fight and have a good record of getting teams promoted - it has to be Colin!

I personally think Cannavaro is a decent option. Our defenders are crap, so we need to get someone in who can actually coach them. He seems tactically flexible, most recently using a back 3, something some would like to see us change to. My only concern would be that he wouldn't drop down into the Championship with us, but then again, he was happy to manage in the Chinese 2nd division.
