Which type of coach will Gino target next?

How grim is the next appointment going to be on a scale of 1-10?

 

That Romanian fella that Burnsy mentioned no doubt. Lampard wouldn’t want it as he’s a control freak manager allegedly and we have no youth team to speak of. Rooney has bigger fish to fry.

Not that an English coach would be remotely considered after Pearson.

 

For me, look no further than Steve Bruce.

He'd be a brilliant appointment. He's much maligned and a joke figure, but I think he's seriously underrated as a coach.

He would be the perfect firefighter for a relegation battle and is obviously up-to-date with knowledge of the Premier League. If we go down, then he's also the perfect coach to lead a promotion charge.

It's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned, but I doubt many will agree and is probably not a target the Pozzo's would consider.

 

Pozzo would need to give up some control if he hired Bruce. Can't see it.

 

Hopefully this Deigo Martinez guy, although not sure he ll be keen on a relegation fight.

What do we know about Ranieri?

He's old, italian, friends with the Pozzos and genial, so presumably our next coach will be a young, Greek enemy of the Pozzos who's horrible.

Nobody will keep us up so might as well sign the guy for the Championship under the guise of PL management. Worked pretty well with Scott Parker (incidentally after Ranieri left them incapable of staying up).

I think our best case scenario is a new coach with a big reputation as a player.

 

The flaw with that is that Gino needs to truly believe that too, but he won’t, he’ll believe we can stay up and that will be the next managers task. Fail and they’ll get the sack.

 

That ex udinese hunk will do me. Or the Italian guy who managed Swansea a while ago that looks like he is on the verge of death (apologies if he has actually carked it recently).

Who would I want?

If they truly believe we can stay up - Diego Martinez, Jesse Marsch.

If they want to start planning for next season/relegation - Russell Martin, Ryan Lowe (but think we have missed the boat on both given they’ve just moved.)

Who will it be? I’d say Galca but he’s just got a new gig. So I reckon they will go for Sabri Lamouchi or Massimo Carrera. Just hunches mind you.

 

He does. But I think he’s been quoted somewhere as saying he is loath to take a job anywhere mid-season.

 

So a mediocre Head Coach with barely any experience in a top League. Seems legit.

Anyone else reckon they haven't got a replacement lined-up yet?

Let’s hope it’s Zola - no one hates Zola and I have hated all our head coaches since. Even Jokanovic for refusing to acknowledge the away fans when we played Fulham in the Prem.

 

They will already have some weasel lined up for a quick pay day.
Really doesn’t matter until Pozzo does one it’s just a comedy club. They might get lucky and even stay up but eventually the new guy will have a hard run of games lose them and have 75% of his squad looking for a move and the other 25% past it and just collecting a wage. Players bought for peanut s that don’t suit any system the head coach is known for playing then it’s his fault and we have toxic atmosphere in dressing room. ******** the toxic atmosphere is in the hierarchy

It will be someone who is cheap/out of contract.

We should have a new strategy/project to rebuild the team with younger, hungry players because we have acquired too many aged mercenaries. I honestly can't see us surviving this season because we have been **** against teams around us and Newcastle are flushed with cash.

Perhaps back someone for a couple of seasons?

He was one the Pozzo’s were linked with previously and is out of work. Would be a depressing appointment though.

 

Dave Basset or Steve McClaren for me. Would add to the comedy show

 

I'd vote for Bertie Bassett and Malcolm McLaren. Put the round coconut ones in charge of S&C and Vivienne Westwood in kit design.
