    Agreed.

If heider or any other of our current players hit a woman, i'd want them to go down too. Football should have nothing to do with this, so to say because he kicked the ball between the posts a few times, that we should want him to get away with hitting a women, is ridiculous.

    Player 'shocked' at attack claim

Mr King said he was not drunk and had never taken drugs
Premier League footballer Marlon King has denied breaking a woman's nose after she rejected his advances.

The victim was left covered in blood and two of her friends fell over after the attack in a central London bar.

The Wigan Athletic striker told Southwark Crown Court that the allegations were a "total surprise".

The married father-of-three, 29, of Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, denies sexual assault by touching and causing actual bodily harm.

Mr King said: "I didn't touch any girl in that club. I didn't smash anybody's face in."

I didn't deck anyone at all

    Marlon King
The footballer is arguing that he is a victim of mistaken identity and did not commit the attack which occurred at the Soho Revue Bar last December.

The victim, 20, who cannot be named for legal reasons, accused Mr King of repeatedly tapping her on the head before punching her.

Mr King told jurors that he had gone to the bar with his wife's blessing after learning that he was to become a father again.

    'Fed up'

The footballer, who was on loan at Hull City at the time, denied either being drunk or having taken drugs.

Roger Daniells-Smith, prosecuting, suggested to Mr King that he had been snubbed by all those that he had approached in the bar.

Mr Daniells-Smith said: "In the end you got fed up and decked one of them."

Mr King replied: "Not at all. I didn't deck anyone at all."

    The trial continues.

Jury out in player assault case

The Jamaican international said he "didn't touch any girl in that club"
The jury in a trial involving Premier League footballer Marlon King has retired to consider whether he assaulted a woman on a night out.

The Wigan Athletic striker is alleged to have grabbed the 20-year-old student's bottom before "decking" her with a punch in London last December.

The alleged victim was one of several witnesses who claimed he was to blame.

But the father-of-three, from Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, has insisted it was a case of mistaken identity.

He denies sexual assault and causing actual bodily harm and told London's Southwark Crown Court that the allegations had been "a total surprise".

The assault is said to have happened at the Soho Revue Bar at a time when Mr King was on loan with Hull City.

A sad indictment of the modern footballer, his financial standing and the effect it has had on his perceived place in society...

Basically that poor lass has had her face punched in for not aceeding to his advances....

    Makes me sick...

Dear oh dear Marlon, cant say you havent got what you've deserved.

You've been given so many chances and you've thrown them back in the face of everyone who gave them to you.

There are so many people who would do anything to be a pro footballer, and you have spat in their faces (or punched them in the face) also.

    Wow...that was fast.

I have a feeling it was a just trial result. Just sayin'

Now as for the punishment phase, that's when we'll see if justice has been served.

Has he been in assaults before or is this a first time offence?

    Footballer jailed for sex assault

The Jamaican international had said he "didn't touch any girl in that club"
Premier League footballer Marlon King has been jailed for 18 months for sexually assaulting a woman in a bar.

The Wigan Athletic striker was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by the 20-year-old student in London last December, Southwark Crown Court heard.

He groped her and then punched her, leaving her with a broken nose.

The father-of-three, from Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, had insisted it was a case of mistaken identity, but the jury returned a unanimous verdict.

The assault happened at the Soho Revue Bar at a time when King was on loan with Hull City.

    'Gratuitous violence'

He was celebrating two occasions - his wife's latest pregnancy and the scoring of a winning goal - with a night out in the West End.

King was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by women in the bar, the court heard, and lost his temper.

A moment of "completely gratuitous violence" led to him "smashing" the victim to the floor, jurors were told.

Two other people standing beside King were also knocked away as a result of the force of the blow he inflicted.

Several witnesses testified that King was responsible, despite his denial, including a football coach who insisted the 29-year-old Jamaican international was the assailant.

I wouldn't mind so much if Heidar hit a woman. As long as she was fat and not his wife.

I don't think Heidar would though, but it would be OK by me if he wanted to.

    What a past...

"While at Gillingham he was arrested for assaulting a police officer"

"King was one-and-a-half times over the legal drink-driving limit and had no insurance for which he was disqualified for 12 months and fined £450 for drink driving and a further £200 the second offence."

"Following a second trial he was convicted of handling a stolen £30,000 BMW cabriolet - and his criminal past emerged in court."
    "
The footballer had used a cloned credit card to buy a £1,200 laptop computer and smashed a glass panel when he was caught."

"The court heard King had previous convictions, including wounding in 1997, theft from a person in May 1999, two counts of fraudulent use of a vehicle license and theft."

That's the sad thing Puds, the punishment doesnt fit the crime.

If he served the full 18 months, I'd see that as a fair punishment. However, as already mentioned, he'll serve 6-9 months, and come out with clubs queuing up for his signature.

Unfortunately true. Criminal sentencing in this country is a joke.

How his wife puts up with his constant philandering beggars belief. No doubt she'll stand by her man.

Good riddance to the thick, ugly, arrogant ****. I couldn't care less if he was associated with us. The sooner his name is wiped out from the annals of our club's history the better.

Several Nottingham Forest fans who I know warned me about him . Seems they got to know him as well in his time there.

You could be right but I doubt it.

If it had been a punch up with men that would be one thing but assault on a woman is a different situation. Any club taking him would get a backlash from the majority of fans.
