    He wasn't sacked for that.

This certainly isn't a case of "PC gone mad", he made ludicrous comments on a professional's ability purely based on their gender, which is just mad.

By saying that he was just voicing his opinion, then the same argument can be placed on any racist or homophobe.

Lord knows why he has a problem with it.

To be honest - they should have been more intelligent than to say what they did in the surroundings of both video and recording equipment, and they got what they deserved from sky with being disciplined - however, I don't know if Sky have made the right call in sacking him, and they may have been better off just fining him, or suspending him.

As i'm at Uni now, I see a lot less of SkySports than I would be able to in an ideal world, so it doesn't really impact upon me - but I saw the video where he made the suggestive comments and actions to Charlotte Jackson to me - which was put up on the same article as him being sacked by sky - and that to me seems more like a joke than anything else which she didn't look happy about, but didn't seem to take immediate offense to anyway - yeah, it's inappropriate, and I don't agree with their choice to criticise professionals over their job in a sexist manner - I just think Sky may have done themselves more harm than good in the long run.

Just to make it clear, i'm not supporting Andy Gray and Keys in anyway here - I just think Sky should have looked more into it and made it plainly clear that that is unacceptable behaviour, and if it happens again, then they should expect more serious consequences. What's done is done. Life goes on.

Surely the reaction and sacking of Andy Gray does not help women earn respect in football.

Every game that female lino goes to it will now feel like theres a white elephant in the ground. If she get something wrong nobody will want to say anything. Thats not respect.

I dont see how this Andy Gray hate campaign will help women in football earn respect. All there will be now is false respect, and people who are too scared to say what they think.

Surely you have to sack the presenters of Loose Women now? They're sexist everyday...

I think pundits will still criticise the decision if a woman gets it wrong, they just wouldn't feel the need to point out that she's a woman whilst doing it as it makes no difference.

Am I right that Andy Gray doesn't commentate on American soccer?

He was just saying what we're all thinking.

    RIP

I agree with Nascot's earlier post, the only way this could be made better would be to get rid of Redknapp and Keys too.

    I hate them all, they're ****.

I am pleased to see him gone, because I have never thought much of him as a pundit or whatever he was supposed to be?

However, although I am not excusing what he said, it was basically a private conversation that would never have become public unless someone chose to make it so.

IMO, Sky wanted him out and used this incident as an excuse to get rid of him without having to pay up his, no doubt, high paid contract!!!

    Good riddance though :sign15:

He got cautioned for sexist comments and then immediately went and made the exact same comments to someone else. The man is clearly a complete dunce.

    Job Vacancy at Sky

    Company - Sky
    Vacancy - Football Pundit
Hours - As little as you can get away with
Salary - As much as you can get away with

A rare opportunity has come up at media broadcaster Sky for a football pundit to work on the company's Super Sunday show and Monday Night Football. Who you work alongside on these shows, is yet to be confirmed.

Your role will be to talk as much bollox as you possibly can during a 90 minute match, as well as before and after, just to pi$$ viewers off (Many of which wont be able to understand you anyway).
The role will involve travelling up and down the country to cover games, but Sky is sure that you're lady wife or girlfriend will supply you a good packed lunch for the journey.

    The ideal candidate must have

    - A brown nose for the top teams in England, particularly Manchester United and Chelsea.
    - A disliking for smaller clubs such as Blackpool and Wigan, as well as referees.
    - A disliking for women in football, or any other sport for that matter. In fact, any mention of the words 'women' and 'sport' in the same sentence should have you in tears of laughter.
    - You must be able to make inappropriate comments to female colleagues, such as "make me a cup of tea luv," "can you bring me my slippers" and "what's for dinner?"
    - Finally, you must be a complete **** on camera and be rubbish at your job.

If you feel you are a suitable candidate, please forward your CV, a covering letter and 500 words on why women should not be allowed anywhere near a football pitch to ****@sky.com

I am sure that has to be a reason as well. SKY do their market research and I do not know many fans that actually like his commentating, I am sure that they realised people were getting pished off with him and thus, this was a nice easy way to get rid of the million pound a year contract.

Richard Keys obviously did not get the bullet. I hear there is another of him calling an ex of Jamie Redknapp's all sorts of naughty words that was apparently pulled from YouTube but he seems to have got away with it at the moment by calling up and apologising to Miss Massey

As ever, some men have become so arrogant as to think they were untouchable.

Gray got what was coming, hopefully Keys will too.

I've seen the Charlotte Jackson clip and the fact that Keys didn't challenge what Gray said and actually smirked too, would be enough justification to sack him too. If you don't challenge that racism/sexism/homophobia at my workplace you'll get done.

Finally, I cannot believe that in the modern professional game that there aren't wiser, more capable, more watchable communicators able to do a much more impressive job that Andy Gray and Richard Keys.

Gray wasn't even a decent coach yet has been set up as some sort of football judgement God.

I hope Alan Brazil and Talkcobblers also take note, as that has gome seriously downhill too.

Judging from the published responses, we're not all thinking what Andy Gray said.

Charlotte obviously wasn't impressed, but what could she do against her much more senior colleagues? Looks like bullying to me.

And I wonder if female colleagues in the studio could hear the exchanges between Keys and Gray about Sian Massey?

And as a clincher, Robbie Savage says Massey was "exceptionally good" in the games he had played in where she was an official.

What a pity both have gone.

Gray was a neanderthal footballer both in terms of play and analysis which anyone one of us could do just as competently. It's not as if he or Keys are neurosurgeons or astronauts or unique beings such as Turner or Marlowe.

Little pair of horrors both of them.

Their comments were outrageous considering that her decision was correct as well. Also Sky's attitude to their women presenters. Most of them unfortunately are not there for their knowledge but as so called eye candy (if you can call them that )to be perfectly frank.

However we are coming to a point in this country increasingly under the auspices of New Labour where one must be ultra careful of what one says for fear of offending this group or that group and certain points of view are seen to be going against the grain and therefore must be extreme , when infact they are perfectly reasonable as we have seen in the debate on immigration for instance.

I mean I do not like seeing women or girls boxing (let alone men ) or playing rugby union and no doubt there will be plenty to castigate my point of view in the argument of equal oppurtunities.

But that's my viewpoint or are we all going to conform to fixed 'correct and acceptable' ones ?

Redknapp has just said 'the ball literally exploded off his foot'. Let's hope a video of sexist behaviour from him is leaked...
