Keys and Gray sexist rant: Andy Gray now Sacked

I remember the thread about the female assistant ref/lino the other week. Well that masterful newspaper the 'Daily Mail' have picked up on something. She done an excellent job in my opinion during the game

Now will SKY do anything about it I wonder? Well they were working this afternoon it seems.

 

What I love more is the denial by Keys, who first said he had no recollection of saying anything like that and when told the paper had the recording he basically replied by saying, "if you've got a recording why are you asking me to comment then?"

 

The only thing slightly similar I can think of is Ron Atkinson making an extremely derogatory remark on mike when he thought it was off and getting the sack, will SKY have the 'balls' to do something about this?

I could not agree more. Let's be honest the men have not been covering themselves in glory. The most important thing is that they do a good job.

 

Ron Atkinson, Gordon Brown now those two, why do so many seemingly intelligent people fall for this one?

To me it is just blokey banter but I fear it may be overblown by the politically correct brigade.

 

Keys is an arrogant ******.He supports coventry, so he's not exactly a knowledgeable bloke is he!!

I assume SKY got that bloke from GMTV to replace Keys eventually but he is stuck doing Goals on Sunday.

I detest Andy Gray with a passion (and not just because he cheated in the cup final!), he is so stuck up the manager's backside all the time, especially his pals. You would think people have forgotten 'King' Kenny's record at Newcastle. Talks so much crap.

Andy Gray is an absolute muppet. I hate how he's best friends with every single player. In his own mind anyway. I especially hate how he always refers to them by their first name in his commentary. Oh and his incessant hounding of referees gets on my nerves as well. It's alright for you Andy, sitting up there with a million tv angles and slow motion to get every single decision right. It's a little bit harder for the referee on the pitch with one view and one chance to make the right call.

Didn't Mike Newell get into quite a bit of trouble when lootown had a female ref because he said basically the same things. That was quite a while ago, you'd think people would be used to female officials by know.

Get rid of Grey. Wonder what he'd say if he saw a player head the ball out of keepers hands into the net. Probably view it from 50 different angles in that ridiculous Monday Night Football studio, and say it was cheating.

What a couple of morons. Not for speaking with their mics on and so on, but just for saying what they said full stop.

I had read about this earlier today, but not heard the audio til just now. I thought that any media attention taking this seriously must be having a laugh, they MUST be talking with their tongues firmly in their cheek. I thought if there were to be any serious repercussions, the powers that be are insulting Gray and Keys' intelligence levels by suggesting that they literally meant that the game would be officiated badly because a woman was to run the line. Obviously noone is stupid enough to actually think that women are less capable of such a thing purely in virtue of being a woman.

BUT... it sounds like they're deadly serious, and somehow bitter about the whole thing. It really doesn't seem to me that it was a joke (I doubt it would have been funny if it was, but still, unfunny jokes are merely dull, rarely offensive). Couple of absolute idiots if I'm right in thinking they weren't being extremely facetious.

Good excuse to fire them I hope, I really have no time for Andy Gray.

andy gray absolutely adores chelsea, all he needed to make his life complete was for gerrard to go chelsea.

 

I would think that any female ref or lino would have to be tougher and better than her male peers to get as far in men's pro football. I've not yet seen a bad female lino, but I have seen Attwell, D'Urso and Styles.

But the most astonishing thing is this thread is the Daily Mail coming out in favour of tolerance and equality. What is the world coming to?

 

Rumour has it these two are being replaced for tonight's live game. I am amazed there has been no apology as yet.

 

They've been suspended for todays game already, just not announced who'll replace them.

The most positive thing to come out of this is that it's upset Karen Brady. I really can not stand that woman. Yes football is sexist, so sling your hook love!

 

First I saw of this was on Loose woman,not that I ever watch it,it was just on..And 1 of em said,what is the problem?,it was a private conversation,and even woman behind closed doors are sexist..It's part of everyday life..

My only concern is we need a new song,cos we can't sing the linesman is a ****er if it's a woman.. ;-)

Whether you believe it to be a good or bad thing, I honestly think that Andy Gray and Richard Keys have just made a career ending gaffe. I seriously believe they will be fired over this.

 

If Andy Gray gets fired, then I take back my last statement about Karen Brady getting wound up being the best thing to come out of this!
