Newcastle have been doing very good business in the transfer market since the Saudi takeover and seem to be getting players with the right character in at reasonable prices. Everton are a more likely fit.
I'm still praying Everton are stupid enough to come back in....it might be possible it they flog Gray
I've heard from one of my most reliable sources that Watford may or may not be considering to make a decision on whether they will make a decision on Sarr's future. It's all moving very quickly as you can imagine but I will keep everyone updated if I hear more.
Under which of our managers do you feel Sarr played his best football? Feel free to name more than one btw....
Hodgson but he’s forgotten all about that. We just need someone to remind the old duffer and then Palace can get their chequebook out
He’s certainly not staying you’d imagine. Nowhere to be seen for the friendly or any pre season coverage.
Think the coach said he’s on his holidays but will be reporting back soon. Not sure that makes any difference to him staying though.
I’d assume there is SOME interest, it’s impossible that there’s absolutely zero interest but I have a feeling we still rate him at a higher value than he is worth. To take the £10/15m that’s probably on the table would hurt Gino too much. We’re probably after closer to £20m and hoping a team is desperate enough nearer the end of the window, Sarr won’t be happy with that and thus is refusing to play against the lowly likes of Borehamwood because I just don’t see how he could not be in training when all his team mates are that would send completely the wrong message. That’s my wild theory anyway.
Assurances were given after the fans forum that the Sarr sale would be resolved soon If Giaretta tellls you we’ll recoup our outlay, you have to believe him
I'd rather he gets a horrific career ending injury than see Gino be humiliated by taking as measly £20m-£25m for our best player. Have you all forgotten his goals v Liverpool already?
Not a bad idea. What value do you think he’s insured for ? Might be why he’s too scared to take part in training / every single one of our official pre season friendlies ??
Putting 2 and 2 together, I feel that behind the scenes, the club are confident of getting circa 90m up front for him. That's how the debt free in a year works.
That's alright then, all the fans' that are sick of him now will have even more reason to dislike him.
His profile amongst our fans won't improve either way. It's either this, or he continues to skulk around the pitch, half-assing everything.
If he stayed this season, played to his full potential, didn’t sulk or claim to be injured every 5 mins and ended up having a great season who would then reluctantly accept him going on a free the following season and the club righting off his transfer fee? Agree all the ‘ifs’ are against our previous experience with the lad.
Given our financial state the only way that would be a remotely sensible idea is if we somehow managed to get promoted. That seems about as unlikely as Sarr playing to his full potential and not sulking, so I think it is in everyone' interest if he is sold.
I guess you mean sulking on the pitch when he doesn’t get the ball and pretending to be fouled /injured as one thing he hasn’t done is sulk off it or been injured too often except for with that knee injury which typically seemed to clear up just in time for the nations cup !
Yes pretty unlikely I know. However if we have no takers for a sale, we can’t keep him here given his lack of effort, if no one want to cover the salary (given he can walk at seasons end ) we might end up part subsidising his salary … worst case scenario.
Fair comment. I think more likely he stays in the team, or at least match day squad, at whatever effort level we can get out of him. Urge him to put himself in the shop window and help us out. Then we try again to sell him in Jan and once again fail to do so.
I'd imagine the "debt free at the end of the season" comment is predicated on £10-15m coming in for Sarr.
