Adidas - Technical Partner Of Watford FC

Discussion in 'The Hornets' Nest - Watford Chat' started by hornetboy1, Dec 6, 2016.

  1. Good news is they can't wear it at Liverpool, Man U, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Southampton, Stoke, probably Burnley Villa Palace. In fact we should use Palace's home kit as our away, that way you could probably rule it out for Leicester, Chelsea, Everton, maybe Huddersfield, Brighton, WBA.

We don't need an away strip.

  2. That design is OK but the colours and the diagonal scream 'Middlesbrough'

In different colours it is nicer IMO

Really? Last years Ayr United away top? Adidas should be ashamed.
If this is correct, then Adidas should be giving this kit out for peanuts.
A kit is an identity of your team. To pass off another team kit as 'new' is totally out of order.

Anyone else's home shirt look massive on? I bought a small but it's about 2 inches longer and wider than the Puma shirts in the same size!! Might have to change it for a kids one!

This away shirt reminds me of a couple of things: The sash is the sort of 'device' found on tops in the early sixties in Carnaby Street (which was absolutely nothing like the tourist tat-trap it is today), or, because it's done on the cheap, a nineties British Home Store sweatshirt where the pattern isn't followed-round on the back of the clothing.
Plus the sash is in the wrong place (well, yes, it's on there in the first place, but apart from that) - does page 52 of the players' contracts require that they don't tuck their shirts in? (Busby, Clough, Taylor, where are your like now?)
And, yes, I agree with the people who say it should be classic or original and not a copy of Middlesbrough or Ayr United.
    Fifty quid? - WHAT!?

The away top is available online from certain outlets as stated before on here. You buy it without a badge for £17.99. Ayr United are having a sale, so you could just their kit cheap.
UEA_hornet, just stop moaning at other users of this forum. You do not own it.

    Hi,
I have been given time to speak directly to Watford regarding the new kit issues and retail stock in the club shop.
The conference call is arranged for Tuesday 18th.
Is anyone interested in putting their points across to Club and head of retail purchasing?
I have received two email from the club confirming that they wish to listen.
Let me know and l will forward your points to them.
    Thanks

Ask how many times and at what EPL grounds the away kit will be worn this season?

Ask why we have an away kit at all when we don't need one? What EPL teams will our home kit clash with? (As if we didn't know the answer) o_O

Ask if he can arrange a friendly with Ayr Utd at the Vic so we can see what the away kit looks like before we shell out £50.

Am I being totally stupid but how long does it take to change a colour on a template? And seriously what do kit designers actually do for their money? Every season we see designs done by our own fans far better than actually produced by multi million corporations.

Make designs that can be mass produced for maximum profit. Next year we'll have a new old one

Well that went right over your head... It was a joke, albeit a pretty cr*p one but I didn't think anyone would take it seriously... Obviously I was wrong. Ironically, the person who claims that they are 'In The Know' doesn't 'know' how to interpret sarcasm.

Indeed. They can afford to be lazy because they know everyone will buy it anyway. If their recycled tat sells loads of units at 50 quid a pop then it's no surprise they put in minimal effort. Nike and Adidas both do it for multiple clubs.

It was anonced mouths ago we would be switching to Adidas so there was plenty of time early December I think it was so 7 months is plenty of time to come up with something better than the ***** the could not flow g to the Ayr fans and training wear with cheap iron on badges

  33. Stevohorn

    Stevohorn Watching Grass Grow

Yes, the club announced it December 6th.

Bit ridiculous suggesting that wasnt enough time to come up with something even remotely original. I mean presuming the Adidas design people had some kind of meeting the conversation should have been something like this..

    "What about this red/black/white template?"
"nah we already used that for Ayr United's away strip last season and it's also a bit close to Boro's home kit"
"Ok.. as it's an away kit we can mess around with the colours no problem.. only take five minutes to knock that up and save them having to moan about it on WFC Forum!"

All Adidas training gear has the team badges ironed on with no colour this season - even Real Madrid and Man Utd, biggest clubs in the world. Seems a conscious design decision by Adidas rather than some slapdash last minute effort to get rid of stock. The away kit I cannot explain though.
