Wasn't Dry World supposed to be a 3 year deal? Could be wrong

This is very strange, as Dryworld pay us more than bloody 138, and yes they were a 3 year deal, but it's also f.ucking incredible, Adidas are brilliant and Dryworld have been a bit of a joke.

The wording is very odd, 'kit' is never actually mentioned, but what the hell else could they be partnering with us for?

What is the timing of this announcement about? All rather odd.

Well, they're what, the second biggest sporting brand in the world? Storied history and identification with some of the biggest teams and moments in football history? They make some really attractive kits too, and generally their involvement is a guarantee of a certain level of non-****ty/cringeworthy quality. It's just a sort of legitimacy or recognition, and I know there's a whole school of thought that suggests kits don't matter and it's un-manly to care about that and what have you, but I don't give a s hit myself, I think it makes us look better and more impressive as a team and club.

Dryworld are a tinpot company who've literally never outfitted a football team before; Adidas have the biggest teams in the world in their stable. They also produce really good stash/training gear and normal sports clothing. Almost all of my workout shirts are adidas.

Good news to break at the fan's forum tonight.

Dryworld were described as technical partners too. Maybe the club have a break clause they've chosen to exercise?

Looking forward to the kit release next year featuring Troy Deeney Dabbing to an Elton John song.

Given that one of their Brazilian clubs has just terminated, and another is reported to be doing so any day now, I'd imagine its a change that has been forced upon us. Good news we get some decent kits. Bad news we probably didn't get the money from the "biggest ever" kit supply deal Dryworld promised. Be interesting to hear whats said tonight for sure.

Hah, madness if so, they've been being accused of fu ckery by Brazilian clubs for months, if they couldn't get it together for us what hope have they got. That being said, it doesn't speak amazingly to our own due diligence if that is the reason and they really are that unreliable and yet we still entered into a deal with them in the first place.

I suppose it depends how the deal was structured and payments made.

At least we had the good sense to put a break clause in place (I assume)

Breaking a 3yr deal after a few months doesn't look great but always seemed a bit Mickey Mouse to me. Still wearing Puma kit in pre-season already had me questioning this. QPR signed a 10yr deal! Could be costly for them as a lower half Championship team!

Well done to Duxberry etc for acting swiftly and securing a top level brand as replacement if the rumours of Dryworld's struggles are true...

    Fantastic news.

Now let's change sponsors from bet138 or whatever they're called and not waste finally having an Adidas kit by having that s**t on it,

For more than 40 years I have dreamt of WFC wearing kit made by adidas - among other things of course - but still, I accept, a tragic life aspiration! Oh, joyous day!!!!

    Hah, np.

It's fair that it's partly hear say right now, but if it's true that Dryworld have basically said "Sorry, but we can't pay anymore", then we can pretty much do whatever we want, can't we. I'd imagine they're probably trying to stay in our good enough books to avoid any further reputation damage or litigation.

Yeah. Usually if the club are announcing something like this in a December it's because they're 4 months late, not 8 months early!

May be like the evolution deal we had for a year where they hardly paid a penny, or the Bukta deal we had where they taped over their name to not give them coverage. Bit embarrassing for the marketing department but the club acts on errors now and puts them right quickly. In a way I hope the club are announcing it now so people know that the facts before they may buy dry world for people for presents for Christmas.

    Great to have adidas though

Adidas did Bristol City's league 1 shirts in 2011. I think you may be over reacting a little bit to what a statement this is. Templates on the way.......

    This x10!!

I think I must be one of the only people on here that was disappointed to hear that the deal with Dryworld hasn't worked out. As dreadful as the collar is on this season's shirt, the fact remains that our strip this season was something truly bespoke that we could call our own. From next season though, our shirt will be nothing more than a carbon copy of every other Adidas-affilicated club in the league.

Adidas are **** and boring, just like Nike and Puma. I wish we could have struck a deal with another, smaller company that could come up with something unique for us. Money talks though I suppose.

Pretty ironic that people talk of smaller kit manufacturers being "cringeworthy" and then declare that Adidas gives the club "legitimacy and recognition". :)

  31. Chumlax

Hah, it's not 'people', it was me, you're just quoting my post without quoting it.

I didn't ever say small manufacturers (in this case Dryworld) are cringeworthy, I said that Adidas guarantees a level of non-cringeworthy quality, reflecting the fact that I believe that our shirt, the shirt that Dryworld produced, is cringeworthy for how badly it is designed and how amateurish it makes us look; it literally doesn't even fit. Please, obviously you are entirely within your rights to disagree with any of my opinions, but don't misrepresent them through selective editing!

Also Jumbolina, my answer to your Bristol City point is that there is a sizeable potential difference between Adidas' relationship with a third division and an extremely visible, multiple-season Premier League team. I would not be at all surprised to find that an Adidas deal with a club in Bristol City's position worked in much the same way ours did with Puma until we were promoted; choosing one of several templates provided and created entirely through an English intermediary company. It won't work the same way for us, and I believe that we will have a kit that has been designed for us to a far greater degree.

I hope the new kit looks tinpot

  33. I think if we compared it, say, with football punditry, the reaction from some fans to Adidas is identical to the obsession MOTD have with the big clubs. Ho hum, perhaps it will help us understand why the media think the way they do, but I guess the pots will go on calling the kettle black.

I'm very happy with a deal with Adidas, but equally, I couldn't really give a damn who supplies our kit as long as it is yellow, black and red, and available for purchase at Christmas.

  34. Arakel

Adidas have put out some truly godawful kits in the past. No idea why people are assuming our kit is guaranteed to not be "cringeworthy".

  35. Jumbolina

I think our current shirts are fine. I don't understand what you mean by it doesn't fit?

If you think we won't get templates I would offer the current horror template that Nike have given to almost every team in their stable. If Nike simply take the England away kit and stick a PSG badge on it I can't imagine a big manufacturer taking much time over us!
