I'm going to take the apparently unpopular stance that last year's home kit was actually quite decent, and certainly better than this year's somewhat unfortunate effort. And the year before that, with the hoops, was even better and my favourite kit of ours in a long while.

I have never bought any replica kit - unless you count scarves or beanie hats with the moose badge. The closest I got to wearing any Watford kit was in 1998 when my wife bought (for 80p at an auction) the Cup Final 1984 shirt. Unfortunately the size was M and I veer between XL and XXL. After an heroic attempt to pull it over my head and down my chest, I gave up when "Wembley" became "W e m b l e y" across the front.

  4. vic-rijrode

    That should be "W e m b l e y".

  5. vic-rijrode

Bloody hell - that should be "W.................e.................m....................b.....................l......................e........................y".

Why are my blanks being ignored?

Couldnt care for the actual kits, Partners with Adidas means we get training kits and gym clothing, which I am most excited for.

Annoyingly, of course, Muff have just revealed (to the wider public, at least) their change from their JDSports/Carbrini joke deal to a real kit manufacturer, and along with it their new kit. And it's ******* beautiful.

I hope our away kit is more of a modernised sleek look, I prefer the new direction kit designs are going in. Doubt it though.

I think football kit design is in the eye of the beholder.

Some people notice subtle design details and some dont. A bit like some people go out to buy a certain colour & pattern of socks and some go out and buy 'socks' The ones that do go out and buy just 'socks' are probably dismayed that other can make a fuss over an overpriced piece of polyester.

Personally i'm one of those that likes to fuss over the details and i'd have to say there are some decent designs this season from what ive seen so far and i'd include that Bournemouth kit in that.

Red numbers work with the red on the front. £50 for a shirt and £28 for shorts is ridiculous though

I probably buy the kit or parts of it once every 5 or so seasons (maybe less frequently than that actually) but I think I'll get this one...once it's up for sale at half price or more. Football kit prices are scandalous nowadays. Just not necessary with the TV money Prem teams get.

I'd be interested to know how a deal with a big player like Adidas works for a club like Watford.

It was interesting to see the fire sale on the Dryworld kit once the deal with them went south. I presume the club took possession of the stock in lieu of payment under the contract with Dryworld. The fact they were able to sell it at basically half price from just before Christmas onwards suggests the club didn't have to work very hard to more than make up what they were owed.

I remember reading somewhere that the kit provider usually receives about 90% of all money made from shirt sales.

I took no.1 son for a hospital appointment at the Gen' on Tuesday. Done and dusted (and making the most of the financial scalping I received from the hospital car park) we nipped into the Hornets Shop to see what was left in the sales. I picked up two "Fred Perry" style shirts for no. 2 son and a "Moose" car freshener as no. 1 was taking his driving test on Thursday - see if you can guess what was the dearest product:

Yellow Fred Perry: £ 6.20, Red Fred Perry: £7.30 (but BOGOF deal so each shirt effectively: £3.65 (cheaper than sweat-shop produced Primark) and cardboard moose £3.99.

Not long seen a lad (6, maybe 7 years old) run onto Oxhey playing fields and joining up with an organised training session resplendent in a full new kit. It looked pretty decent too. His old man must have just been paid as he'd had Deeney & the number 9 put on the back as well! Also nice to see the junior kit have the sponsor on the front!

The mini kits in the past have been a total rip off. Last season. A simple yellow top, not the same design as the club shirt, plain Black shorts(£2 from sports direct) with no badge as on the adult/junior kits and Black/yellow socks. All for £45. It was an insult.
Who ever designs the casual wear at Watford FC needs to be shot. Go take a look at other clubs, many in lower divisions the WFC, and see their items. Most are way ahead of what WFC offer.

    85-90% according to this.. https://www.theguardian.com/football/the-set-pieces-blog/2016/aug/24/transfer-window-market-myths

Not sure what Adidas have given us for producing our kit but i do know Puma gave us a million pounds for our first season in the Prem. Lets presume the deal with Adidas is the same (probably gone up a bit in reality) Well i cant see how they re-coup their money.
Lets say they are getting £45 per shirt sold. Minus manufacture cant be more than say £30 profit each. How many shirts are we likely to sell.. 10 thousand? That would be a profit of £300K. So that would leave an awful lot of shorts, socks and training kit sales to make up the difference.

Maybe for someone like Adidas we are a loss leader in the eternal war of sports goods manufacturers.

The kit was like a 5/10 as it was (Wasnt overly impressed to be honest). Those red letters though, its now a solid 2/10. Those red letters just look awful.

Heres hoping the away kit isnt just a black version of this, but something like what adidas did with Man U's away kit last year by having the blue camo design.

I'm not sure where I read it - but someone suggested that the away kit was the same shirt design but in red with black collar and piping etc.

The shiny new shop is such a great opportunity to sell more but it is stocked full of absolutely appalling tat. Lose everything and start again. The Harry the Hornet stuff is especially harmful to ones eyes as is anything with red.
    WFC need a new buyer.

I'm looking to purchase a pair of home shorts as will wear when playing 7-a-side. Black with red stripes looks sharp. Price seems very steep for shorts though.

QPR released their Errea kits this week, after leaving Dryworld like us. They announced their kit deal after ours but have been given bespoke kits, so wonder how they had time and we didn't.
