    Crazy money

    89m = transfer fee
    20m = agent fee
    300k a week (basic wage, no bonuses included) = 15.6m a year x 5 year contract = 78m

    Total fee = £187m before add ons to Juve or bonuses in his wages. Ridiculous.

    So that is the problem we have with the 25 man squad.. we won't use it to its full potential.

    No wonder a lot of people on here think you are a p*ick.

    Everton make a £35m profit and arguably upgrade their centreback.

    Sunderland signing Paddy McNair, Donald Love & Papy Djilinobodji... They love a big 4 cast off.

    The media will love these big money signings.

    Gives them the chance to talk about how big and powerful the PL is - then stick the knife in if these players don't perform as expected.

    He may end up being amazing under Pep but 50 million for Gary Cahill's international understudy feels a big fee as things currently stand.

    We won't use the 25 man squad to its full potential? I'm still not seeing the problem. You've just made a 23 man squad and we have Success and Sinclair as under 21 players. ****ing hell you're thick mate.

    I see Paddy 'Beckenbauer' McNair has moved to Sunderland in a cut-price double deal with another United player....

    You're making a fool out of yourself.

    You don't see the problem? The problem is that we are limiting the size of our squad by only going for non-HG players.

    Its obvious that if we used our full 25 man squad we would then have 27 when you include Sinclair and Success. So by only using 23 we are only having 25 players to pick from rather than 27. It's beyond basic but you can't seem to understand it.

    Good signing for them. Young, homegrown with PL and international experience.

    Have you not got anymore Watford transfer 'rumours' to post or have you become embarrassed by constantly posting bullsh*t?

    To be honest if you have really good U21 players then the fact you don't have HG guys to fill up the extra spots is a moot point. #footballmanager

    What if it turns out the signings we made this summer aren't very good (like a good few from last year)? And the players like Suarez, Nyom, etc continue their poor form from last season? Then our squad look pretty thin again.

    I'm also very unsure if Sinclair is ready for the Premiership yet.

  16. Hornpete

    Hornpete Squad Player

    We really struggledlast year by having only 5 hg players...

    There's no obligation to spend half our transfer budget on overpriced squad players. Quality over quantity applies. Anyone clamouring for us to utilise the hg capacity just for the sake of doing so is really missing the bigger picture. I've seen people on other sites really angry that we have not complied with the home grown quota. It's just not that big a deal. Unless we sell anya, deeney, Watson and Cathcart we're really not struggling.

    What if the reason they were crap has been replaced by Mazzari and they are bloody good next year?

  18. Jumbolina

    Jumbolina First Team

    True. But if our core players under perform and our U21 guys aren't up to it yet then having a couple of extra average HG players won't help us. We'll just have a bad squad and struggle.

    Our squad depth was one of the reasons we faltered so badly in the second half of the season.

    We had players injured/badly out of form and noone to replace them with

    No we did have people to replace them with but Quique decided not to. And you honestly want the club to pay for a couple of overpriced players just to fill up the homegrown places? If the club want a homegrown player they will sign one, but it's clear they think there is better value and better ability to find abroad. It's completely unnecessary for us to have 8 homegrown players, especially if we're adding Kenedy to the under 21 list now too.

    Like who? Which players could have replaced the out of form Ighalo? And what about the out of form Nyom/Paredes?

    With Watson banned presume we will need to have Hoban in the squad on Saturday to cover for the HG allocation?

    I'd have preferred Bony, who would probably have cost half of Benteke's fee.

    Benteke is a bit more "Palarse" than Bony though. Big target man to get on the end on crosses.

    Bony would be more "us", for sure. Don't be surprised if he gets sold for a similar price though.
