Don't be too sure. I was confident this time last year, when I thought Joker was going to be in charge. Mazza is an unknown quantity.

We've signed players with a good pedigree, but there's no guarantee they won't turn out like Fabbrini, Jurado or Oulare.

Signing players from little clubs like Charlton is fine if you get the right ones.

It is. But when your ONLY signing is from Charlton it doesn't bode well. I await the Burnley board to prove me wrong but considering they baulked at the Hendrick fee I can't see it.

Strengthening for the promotion push next season. Not trying to be condescending but they know their limits and I quite like that, a good way of running a football club.

    Bruce back to Sunderland perhaps?

Arguably the best possible short term fix before the season starts.

Burnley doing exactly as they did before. Signing Championship players, taking the money from their season in the Premier League and running. Bit disappointed in Dyche if I'm honest, don't know whether he's restricted by their 'model' but it's an obvious lack of ambition considering the money that they'll be getting. Really hope they get humiliated this season because of it.

Don't understand why Bournemouth let Liverpool have these buy back clauses. If the players kick on then Liverpool get the benefits and if they flop then Bournemouth are in the hole for 20 million.

I think Liverpool wouldn't sell otherwise. At the end of the day they are a small club that has risen incredibly quickly. It is unlikely they have the infrastructure in place to scout across the globe, so they are doing what they can to stay up. First by hoovering up talent from the championship, and now looking at young players from bigger clubs. If it works good luck to them, they might not make any money from these liverpool players but while they are funded by a Russian billionaire does it really matter?

Complete agree. That's still a hell of a lot for a relatively unknown defender with hardly any experience though. I can't help feeling Liverpool saw them coming.

Fair play to Bournemouth, at least they are going for mainly home grown players, they won't have any problems with the 25 man squad, unlike us. OK, Australian by birth but lived here for a fair few years and looked decent enough when given a chance last year, Liverpool must think so to have a buy back clause.

Pretty poor treatment of the overseas fans by the organisers by cancelling the man Utd v man city game in China with 6 hours to go. People had flown in from all over that region to see the game.

apparently the pitch wasn't good enough :sign5:

To be fair, they have had extremely bad flooding in China so can only assume Beijing also received some of that weather.

According to the report I saw last night, yes they had bad weather but that was last week and they had plenty of time to call the game off earlier. Sounds like the biggest complaint was that they should have called it earlier before people traveled. The pitch looked shocking.

Probably not, but if the state of the pitches in China are always that bad, then Mourinho wouldn't have seen the pitch until the day most likely, before deeming it not good enough.

If their only signing is from Charlton by the end of the window, I'll completely agree with you.

Point taken that the window is still open, but it doesn't look too good so far for them does it? They kick off 2 weeks Saturday and they've brought in just a Charlton player. Given that they had promotion in the bag with a few weeks to go before the season ended you'd have thought they would have had more things in motion. It's not like they had the extra month of not knowing if they were coming up via the playoffs.

They've had 3 bids for Dale Stephens of Brighton rejected and I think the last one was £4mil. I'd be embarrassed if I was a Burnley fan and in today's market those kind of bids are a bit insulting to the club they're buying from. There's being sensible and then there is what they do. Thy got pretty close to survival last time considering, why not invest a bit?

The Burnley fans seem supportive of the targets - what they don't seem to like is the nitpicking over fees as you say. Surely if Stephens is your target then getting him (and Hendrick) in for a solid pre-season to bond with the team and learn tactics is more important than trying to save cash by making lowball bids which will be rejected anyway.

50 million for a defender who cannot do that (at the moment)

Suppose if you've got the money you can take such risks..

And what problems are we going to have over the 25 man squad?

Our 25 man squad will likely be less than 25.

    Our HG players are:

Anya, Watson, Cathcart, Deeney, Hoban and Gilmartin.

That's 6, giving us a maximum squad size of 23. No point listing Sean Murray, he'll not play even if he is in the 25.

West Brom agreed a fee with West Ham for Sakho with the Hammers after Ayew as a replacement.

Didn't fail the fitness test but apparently no where near fit enough?!

Surprising if true. I'd have thought WBA wouldn't be put off just because he lacks a bit of general fitness as opposed to an injury issue. Most players lacking fitness at this stage.

If you agree to pay 10 million or whatever for someone and a fat bucket of lard shows up for the medical I don't blame them for pulling out. It's an indication of poor attitude surely?

If that was what happen fair enough, but I doubt he was that bad. And to be fair, he's a good player. Sounds to me more like they changed their minds due to the new owners coming in.

Papy Djilobodji has joined Sunderland from Chelsea (well he was there but only played a MINUTE!)

Already lost some value from his widely reported 100 million fee!
