Palace supposedly (according to the Guardian and other news outlets) bid £31m for Batshuayi and trigger Townsend's release clause.

Big statement of intent for this season.

Southampton signed Redmond the other day as well.

Ritchie leaving Muff for Newcastle apparently.

I can't believe tbh, think it must be *******s. Why would he leave Bournemouth and the Premier League for Newcastle and the Championship, considering the season he's had?

Newcastle confident of securing a deal to sign Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth. Player understood to be up for the move. More @MirrorFootball

    Why would Muff sell him?

Ridiculous offer from Newcastle i imagine, but more importantly, why would Ritche want to leave? Real shame if he does, will say a lot about him IMO.

Ridiculous offer from Newcastle, ridiculous wages on offer, ridiculous promotion bonus?

Maybe even (unbelievably) not even in Muff's plans for next season?!

Would anyone here take Matt Ritchie for £12m? I would.

Newcastle Chronicle are claiming that Ritchie was offered to Newcastle. Might be a bad egg? Or maybe his spectacular goals masked general bad play, like Ighalo?

Wasn't he reported to be on around £40k in the championship? Maybe they just don't think he's worth those wages anymore.

I've seen Bournemouth fans throughout the season say he isn't all that great. Think he is someone like Townsend, grabs a few decent goals and looks good to outsiders but when you watch him each week he isn't all that.

These fans said this around the time he was 'linked' to United

A few spectacular goals is a bit different to 30 goals in a calendar year..

You've missed the point, congrats. Good old Squibba, you and Steve Leo should be a comedy double act.

"It's an unbelievable feeling to come to a football club like this," said Ritchie.

"I loved it at Bournemouth - I had a fantastic time there and it had a huge impact on my career. But when a club like Newcastle comes calling, I couldn't pass up this opportunity."

Howe got fed up with people stopping him in the street & asking "Aren't you that Matt Ritchie bloke?"

Rumour that Palace have bid £25m for Benteke!

Probably after another Liverpool player after the Batshuayi ploy!

edit: rumoured that Palace put in a "fake" Batshuayi bid to gain interest in him from other clubs in exchange for getting Mandanda a bit cheaper.

Boro set to sign Victor Valdes and potentially Van Persie. Bizarre.

Signed Marten de Roon for £12m yesterday too. And they have Viktor Fischer.

    Quite impressed by their intent

RVP is done at the top level. Simple as. Could only just scrape 10 goals (from open play) in one of the best teams in the Turkish league. Fischer is a gamble as well, had the world at his feet 3 years ago but has stagnated massively since.

I think Boro will be similar to us last year, without Deeney and Ighalo. Good solid defence, but can't see where their goals come from.

Boro now in advance talks for Negredo. Wow.

Lewis Cook signed for Bournemouth, not a bad signing

Fantastic signing when you consider his potential and his resale value, especially seeing as he's homegrown.

You mean "wow" that they're able to sign him, or that you think it's a lunatic move?

His goal scoring record since leaving Sevilla has been pretty Juradoesque, but before that it wasn't bad.

Just an odd move all round. Their transfer strategy seems a bit 'QPR' atm.

It's amazing the quality they're bringing together in their squad when you consider they're not that big a club and especially considering where they were earlier this decade.

6th in the league after finishing 7th and 8th the last two seasons and on a run in 2016 only bettered by Leicester, with two European Championship winning defenders, a striker who almost made the semis and another in the last 16. How do they do it?

Southampton are such a well run club.

It's amazing that Palace have not only got their money back for Gayle, but earned a decent amount of profit on top.
