Are any of you bloggers, vloggers, podcasters and you tubers interested in getting behind my 'We want our flasks back' campaign? I am planning an evening of Thermos disobedience tomorrow

 

Only if you can incorporate the Italian for ‘thermos flask’ into your campaign. It’s the only way to get through to Gino. Speaka da lingo, capiche?

Sounds like the boys that host FTRE have lost the club funding so are no longer sitting on the fence about Gino. Don’t normally listen, but saw their latest podcast was about Gino, so thought let’s see what waffle they come up with as to why we should be grateful etc for Gino. To my pleasant surprise, they didn’t. They actually for once sounded like real fans as opposed to the corporate pushing yes men they normally sound like.

So if you’re on this forum and you’re one of those podders FTRE, let me simply say well done. Now you need to keep the anti Gino agenda in front until he either sells up or he actually gets the balls to face the fans.

The next thing that needs to happen is Roy and the 1881 group, need to grow a pair of balls and be a voice for how the majority of fans feels towards Gino, not the minority. They need to stop putting their selfish desires first of having “club access” and remember that before they got the special “club access” they were once regular fans. They are in a position to make a banner that says Gino Out, Gino sell up or Talk to us Gino. They are in the position to organize the fans to chant Gino out!

To the supporters trust group, whoever is on that, if you’re on here, instead of eating your prawn sandwiches at HT in your comfy box seats, and kissing Gino’s backside, speak up for the damn fans. Again you are in a privileged position to do something about the current state of the club. Until you do, you are just as guilty as Gino is for the demise of Watford. Demand a response from Gino, demand a public meeting where all fans are invited. Not just the select kiss ups that would gladly let Gino have his way with them as long as the got to get Pedro’s shirt that he wore at training that morning, but fans who care about the club first, not what they can get out of it.

Agree. Whilst Gino's refusal to speak is a problem, the solution is not for him to speak now. It's too late for that. No club owner should need to be pressed into speaking to the fans. What would be the best we could hope for?

Empty promises, hollow sentiment, feigned sorrow. Who needs it?

It's 100% clear that Gino will continue to run the club as his own plaything in his own crazy ways. Sacking Edwards, signing Bayo and Manaj, sacking bilic, getting rid of Bayo and Manaj, ignoring both sacked managers' needs in the transfer windows - these are not ancient history. These are this seasons Pozzo actions. He is worse than ever.

I'm sorry DNSYE guys, but this 'campaign' is a waste of time. The only thing fans groups and poscasteds should be calling for is Pozzo out.

Stop wasting energy and time on this sideshow.

 

This definitely seems like the latest way for the podders & Co. to continue to ignore the elephant in the room. Anything but lay any blame at his door, just talk to us Gino, that’s all we want and that will make everything ok.

 

The only way to get Gino out will be for someone to make him a great offer for his shares. He's not going to be driven out. He's only going to be given a great offer for his shares today by either 1/An idiot 2/someone who cares passionately about the club and can't bear to see the direction of travel (Elton-backed syndicate- yes please), or 3/someone who just wants to buy a club close to London and bankroll it to become a prem established club. Otherwise he will just sit and wait, roll the dice believeing he can get us back to the prem and sell at a great price, but with administration if he fails.

 

Correct. It would still make me feel better though if Pozzo knew he was despised rather than that godawful flag of his face doing the rounds.

As I’ve said, this DNSYE podcast get people donating to them via a platform called Patreon.

Now I don’t want to anger them (further than I seemed to yesterday!) but I don’t know where that money goes? I assume it’s on the running of the podcast which is fair enough. But given they have created this online thing (which they must know Gino Pozzo will totally ignore) that they think might get traction, why don’t they get people who listen to donate towards one of those giant Tifo/Banner things with the same message?

Unfurl it at every home game. Make a smaller one and unfurl that at away games.

That way it would get the message across and he would at the very least see the damn thing. The media would no doubt pick up on it then too.

Surely that sends a better, clearer and totally more noticeable message? And if the club ban them from taking it in, then take it down the park, sprawl it out and show people on social media that it exists, isn’t flammable or a danger, and very clearly and professionally contact the club and ask why previous banners of the exact same material and size have been allowed before to great fanfare? Make it very obvious that it’s the messaging that the club are silencing.

You want some energy directed at Gino? That’s how you start.

Read the comments under almost anything the club posts on Twitter - full of anger towards the owner and club. Even more so under posts made by unofficial outlets… Has Gino EVER referenced them or reacted to them? No. So why would a social media campaign such as this one work? He isn’t going to go seeking out criticism online. He’s made it perfectly clear through his actions that he’s immune to it. You can’t put something out there and hope he see’s it and suddenly starts caring enough to react. You have to take the criticism and put it right in front of him so he cannot escape it. If he chooses to ignore it still or stop going to games, that will tell everyone who still sides with them everything they need to know about the price they put on the fans feelings.

I’m not critical of people trying to do something - far from it. But it’s being aimed in totally the wrong way if you want it to succeed.

Trying to drum up fans to chant anti-Pozzo songs, or ‘Pozzo out’ banners isn’t going to work. As not everyone wants him out. But I doubt there are any but a very minor few who don’t want him to communicate. So I can’t see any real pushback on what I’m suggesting apart from the financial aspect which the podcast might be able to cover off? Or get The Watford Buzz, FTRE and WST involved? Hell, even start a crowdfunding thing.

The danger is it will only result in a poor statement as he has done before. Not the wide-ranging interview we all deserve. So I am still unsure what people are hoping to gain.

(I should add, I have said that I think the time for him to speak has come and gone because I personally don’t trust the ownership at all anymore - but I would support something like the above in the name of the very many who do want him to speak.)

Gino genuinely does not give a single toss what Watford fans think of him, you could run on the pitch and do a giant turd on a flag of his face and I don’t think he’d care.

 

Who knows, try it, see what happens!
