Started by the top guys on DNSYE's podcast please support getting this out on all social media.

It's a simple message 'Talk to us Gino'

I’ll support it - if the guy from DNSYE stops filming himself at games.

    That’s the trade I require.

So to rationalise what you are saying in order for you to support the owner of our club actually talking and fans actually asking him to do so you want a podcast about the club to stop talking about the club while at a match?

    Amazing.

They’ve spelt it wrong, according to Google translate it should be vaffanculo e non tornare Gino.

Nothing screams accessible and simple campaign that all fans can get behind than some podders coming up with something in pidgeon Italian.

Not sure what's 'amazing' about what I have said.

I really dislike the fact that Gino Pozzo doesn't feel obliged to talk to fans.
I also really dislike that the guy from this podcast (or any social outlet) films themselves, their reactions and giving commentary, during the game.

I've seen elsewhere on this forum that you're encouraging people to sign up financially to this podcast because you think it's better than being on this forum. I'd say that's just as 'amazing'.

I do think it's better than this kind of reaction all the time yes. I also think you should for once put your words to better use than starting arguments and checking posts to back things up. It's not healthy.

The club is being run into the ground. We all need to wake up to it. Or just argue on a forum about who posts what...... up to you really.

I'll put you on ignore, you do the same. Happy days.

I personally think this is a better campaign to get behind as it's measured in approach.

We can all be Uncle Ron with emotion after a match, but getting Gino to talk in an honest interview, is a must. It's only going to go in one direction from here if he doesn't do this.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand results dictate feeling. If we lose 2 or 3 more games, then no doubt Wilder will be sacked and fan feeling will drop through the floor in resentment. If we win the next 10 games, and win the playoffs, this all goes away instantly and everyone is bouncing.

So, feeling towards Gino, totally depends on results, however shallow that sounds. I believe it's true.

But I will play devil's advocate here. If I was the owner, I would look back at my record with some pride. I've taken a badly run club from the brink of administration, saved it from going under, and given so much relative success. I'd be a bit pissed off if now, if after one indifferent season, fans are up in arms at me.

I believe this is how he would be thinking, and on some level, I think that has some merit.

However, the other side of this, is, you've created a rod for your own back. People think you and your family are big achievers. We expect more from you. We don't expect to stay in the EPL forever, but we do expect logical thinking in order to create the best club possible. We do expect an ethical way of working and we do expect regular updates when things are taking a downturn, just to reassure the fanbase. Believe me, it wouldn't take much to get the majority back onside again. This tactic of never speaking and hiding, only works when things are going well, or are least on a even keel. When the direction appears to be going backwards, this is when our leaders have to lead, NOT HIDE.

I personally would not think any worse of Gino if he gave an interview, coming across humble but fallible, if he gave tangible reasons why things are why they are and has the plan to rectify. As long as that comes across as honest and believable, then as far as I'm concerned it's all good.

Without communication, it breeds mistrust and fans make their own version up. With chat spaces and Watford blogs all over the place, it's easy to influence a fanbase either way in this day and age.

Over the last 4 years, pretty much everything they've touched has turned to crap. Why is that? How have they gone from being one step ahead of everyone, to two steps behind. Why do they make so many bad decisions on recruitment, overlooking obvious deficiencies within the side and never give a head coach time to get through a difficult run of results? Why do players always appear to down tools so often? What is driving this culture of failure and lack of motivation?

He has to change, and if he doesn't the slide will continue. All I would like to know is does he recognise the failings of the past and has he a real plan to reverse our downward spiral.

    LOL.

I think I'll decide what's 'healthy' for me thanks. And I made a post that was heavily steeped in sarcasm regarding some bloke filming himself at games - it's not the first time I've highlighted how bizarre I find that behaviour - the fact you couldn't recognise the sarcasm and got upset because I didn't immediately back a weak campaign using Italian language that many would need to check, well...it's just funny really!

I've been very aware that the club is being run into the ground - think my posts for a number of years show that. I just don't think this weak campaign will work because I doubt Gino Pozzo spends anytime on Twitter worrying about what people post.

If this podcast want to use some of the money they take from people by subscribing and make a huge new banner with the same message and unfurl it at every game, then it may have impact.

But I maintain the point that people who films themselves at games are weird.

I think results dictate things for most, but certainly not for all. We certainly have individuals on here (and I know of many others) who don’t think positive results will paper over the issues we are facing.

The reality is that many people started to realise the issues in the season we went down under Javi, QSF, Pearson. And those concerns weren’t eradicated by a positive season under Xisco with plenty of wins.

So I’m not sure I fully agree that everyone will be bouncing if Wilder gets us up. Because I think Gino has done so much damage that I personally don’t think is eradicated just by regaining PL status. Can he be trusted to run the club in a more sustainable manner? Can he be trusted to not hire 3 more coaches in the next 12 months?

Can he be trusted at all?

Gino had his golden opportunity to speak publicly when Andrew French came on the scene at the start of the season. New broom at the local paper, a fan, an experienced journalist too unlike the (relatively speaking) kids that have held the WFC reporter role in the past few years. The Scott Duxbury interview was detailed and handled in a completely non-clickbaity way, so it's not like he had any real reason to fear being misrepresented either. It was a massive PR error to refuse that opportunity and in my view if he'd have fronted up to it then there would be far less frustration at him now.

Think this is quite a good idea and would get behind it. It’s not a big ask for Gino to communicate with us and explain where he’s at . Pozzo out is all well and good but if he doesn’t want to go ( which he clearly doesn’t ) then where do we go from there?

  20. hornetboy1

    hornetboy1 First Team Captain

He just doesn't want to talk and if he does an interview it will be through gritted teeth I'm sure. But, if by some miracle, we do go up, he'll never talk because the pressure will not be so great for him to do so. If we miss out on the playoffs entirely, there's a real chance the discontent will grow, especially at games if we lose our remaining home matches this season.

I can see it getting to such a point, that the only alternative is to front the fans, but I think it will be the last straw and only if ST sales are very low and/or there are demonstrations or regular chanting from the majority at games.

I don't understand his reluctance to speak, and the possible response that he doesn't feel he needs to do this is justifiable anymore. Talking is a great way to unite everyone. You'll achieve nothing if the fractures are gaping between the board and fanbase.

If he continues to be stuborn, hire three coaches each season, be non-communitive, do nothing to try to reduce our debt and fail to see how unmotivated our squad are - League One would be my guess.

If its true that Edwards lost a power battle with Gino over how the club is running it puts that stubbornness into even sharper focus. Gino chose Butterfly Guy over sticking with the new approach after 10 games. Absolute joke.

When it comes to the Pozzo ownership, there's plenty I do not like, but (rightly or wrongly) I still believe they are capable of bringing big success to the club. I find Watford to be an extremely interesting case-study. There's always something going on that is emotive.

If Gino did sell up, of course, we could go on to even better things, but the likelihood is we wont (IMO). I would say getting another Bassini would be low, but it's very plausible another Graham Simpson could buy us. A decent businessman of modest means. Our ceiling would be confined to a seasonal Championship relegation battle. Sustainable success would probably elude us.

So it entirely depends on who would like to invest in us. An SEJ lead consortium would be very good news, and that is entirely possible of course. Some might even welcome a local honest businessman supporter with the caveat we will not really amount to much, apart from the odd cup shock result. But I would like more than that now I've had a taste of what the Pozzo's have given us. If they can no longer do that again, then so be it, time to move on. But while they are still interested in Watford and understand the issues, then, for now at least, I think we're best served with them.

That is what annoys me the most. Sure, the football under Edwards wasn't the best towards the end, but who is to say he could not turn that around? He's lost a few games as Lootown manager and they are sitting pretty in the playoffs probably laughing at us right now. That 4-0 Derby loss will seem like a small blip on their perfect season especially if they go up and we get left in the dust. I liked Edwards, he brought a smile to the players and reminded me a lot of Xisco in some respects. It was clear he never had the players for his system but if he had gotten into January with a chance to pick and choose, who knows? I am almost certain would we be a darn sight closer to the PL now if we stuck with him and allowed him to find a style of play. Too many times this owner has backstabbed and thrown head coaches under the bus. Gracia was given an extention and sacked four games into the new season. Who is to say he could of not turned our poor start around? Football is a winners game, I get that. But if you don't accept the lows you will never appreciate the highs.

I think the key point regarding Edwards is that he is now managing a squad of players who actually CARE. On paper we have better quality players but the majority can't be bothered to put in any modicum of effort.

This comes back to the recurring question of "can anyone get a tune of this bunch of spineless shirkers?", that we've been asking for years.

Ultimately that comes down to Gino who oversaw the recruitment and instability that got us to this point.

To be honest, I'm not really sure I want to hear what he has to say anymore anyway - I think the decision making and lies we have been told over the past couple of years are beyond explaination.

Anything he would say would only lead to fans (as is their right) to then claim we have to take him at his word and give him time to prove what he is saying is true. I personally don't want that because I no longer have any trust in them.

    Oh Burnsy,
all you have to do is ask nicely. I’m the bloke that films himself. To put some perspective on it for you. I started the match day vlog because a good mate of ours was seriously ill in hospital, and couldn’t watch the games, so we found a way to keep him part of the match day experience. If it’s not for, no problem. Not everything we do is for everyone, however we do try to be inclusive and I’m not worried about my views being out there for all to see, it’s my opinion, we are all allowed one and nobody has to agree. Thanks for the feedback and if that’s what it takes for you to stand up and be counted, probably says more about you then it does me. Some people are sheep and I have no problem with that. You don’t know me and I don’t know you, the difference between us, is I won’t hide away on here, moaning about the situation, I put myself out there and it’s your choice to listen. Anyway thanks again, maybe if you’re at a game, I’ll buy you a beer and have a chat about your views. All the best. Bloke who films himself.

You freely admit you don’t know me - and then make an assumption about something saying more about me than you? How does that work?

And also, labelling people on here as sheep just because they choose to post on a forum instead of call into your podcast? Doesn’t feel like a wise move to me. I’m not sure how you can suggest anyone is ‘hiding away’ on here - it’s surely just another format to yours is it not?

You are of course free to video yourself, do the hokey-cokey, or whatever you want to do at games. I find your reasoning for starting the videoing as laid out above, noble, I can happily admit as much. But I think it is a new phenomenon that I don’t have much time for - along with fans asking for shirts after a game etc etc.

My views on the ownership and running of the club are very well known. Because I post them here, or on Twitter, or anywhere else, doesn’t mean they are any less than yours or anyone else’s who chooses to phone you as a different way of expressing them.

I have never said you aren’t free to video yourself. But I’m allowed quite freely to express that it’s something I’m not keen on - it’s not your videos in particular. I don’t enjoy anyone using that format on a continued basis as I find it strange.

I should also point out that my first post about all this at the very top of the thread was pretty obviously sarcastic in its nature!

I’m sure you’re a great guy - I have no reason to assume otherwise. If you want to push this whole ‘get Gino talking’ campaign, to me it’s very clear he doesn’t pay attention to social media, or podcasts, or even the local media. He won’t go looking for criticism so you have to take it to him. A giant banner or flag that covers the Rookery at home games won’t escape his attention - so maybe get your listeners on to that kind of thing.
