Cannot really complain with the result as Leicester deserved it. Bachmann clearly still had some lingering concussion but at least he gets some extra time off now. Taking out Vardy could of been avoided, if he scores so be it but getting sent off as the last man was just foolish. For over an hour I think we were doing well to stay in the game. Leicester should of been out of sight well before the first goal, which was perhaps partly Kone' and partly Bachmann's fault. Livermore should of stayed on, we lost any beef we did have in the midfield when he went off. Asprilla and Ince did nothing, Louza starting is just a ten man team. All he did was get booked. Leicester had there best midfielder out but we didn't try to attack them which was a shame. If we are going to play a defensive shape don't start Porteous, Yes he went in goal and fair play for stepping up, but he had more than one scary movement. Not a single shot on target, their goal keeper could of sat and had his lunch all game instead. Not a terrible loss goal difference wise, but it was a shame we didn't attempt to attack them or try to win the game. It's out the way now and we quickly move on to Norwich who have won their last two games. Could be a tricky one despite our great form over them in recent seasons. It was siege of the titans all game, we had no wooden trojan horse to keep them out for almost 110 minutes.
The ref was poor and easily duped from what I saw. The 'challenge' that saw Porteous booked being a prime example - the Leicester striker carried on running for a vouple of yards untouched then just fell over. I agree regarding the pen, I'm not sure how much contact Bachmann got especially given the way in which Vardy fell to ground. Still by that late stage the pen had no effect on the outcome of the game.
Vardy’s been doing that his entire career. He’s so good at making it look like a foul by initiating the contact first
It’s one of those football fan myths that the captain is or should be allowed to speak to the referee any more than any other player. While there’s something in it from an influence perspective as part of general chit chat, if you’re stupid enough to make your goalkeeper captain you have to accept you need to delegate that role to someone else outfield. Plus Bachmann has been booked so many times for dissent now, both as captain or not, I think it’s perfectly clear he’s incapable of conducting himself professionally and with respect.
I'm genuinely starting to wonder if there's actually something wrong with Bachmann. Either way there's no way that someone with his temperament and footballing ability should be playing football at a professional level. The fact that he is our captain is just a whole new level of laughable.
Fact that Bachmann didn't complain at all suggests it was a pretty obvious foul as he loves a demonstrative moan. First glance I thought that Vardy had tripped himself after going past him but pretty sure Bachmann's body rather than hands knocked him off balance.
Seems a particularly ill disciplined first booking . Rushing up to the ref from his goal for no reason .
The Linekar Walker Crisp Stadium is as bland and homogenous as I remember it from 20 years ago . Unfortunately there are still a large number of fans with their pathetic clappers. Leicester the better team but if Val had brought on Kone and Asprilla on earlier we may have nicked a draw as we a looked a lot more threatening with them on. We look an organised team with a game plan , we just lack a couple of players who have the quality to break the deadlock . Good window this January and Summer and I think we can challenge for play offs .
@wfc4ever Nail on the head! As soon as any player gets a totally needless and avoidable first yellow, they’re walking a tightrope. I think we fans would be more forgiving of two yellows for fouls, but when one is for dissent or time-wasting or kicking the ball away or waving an imaginary card at the ref etc etc, it’s so so annoying.
I enjoyed Bachmann shaking hands with our players and sauntering off the pitch as though it was his testimonial match.
We were watching Bachman during the warm-up at a home game earlier in the season. The coach failed to put the ball exactly where he said he would and Bachmann missed it. He acted like a little child and could contain his anger, he was livid and then just walked off the pitch.
I quite like Bachman and whenever I've seen him on HornTV or in interview's he's generally seemed a decent bloke. I also think he's our best current GK and therefore don't relish the idea of him being suspended.
Leicester were always going to beat us, no problems there. We actually made a pretty good attempt at trying to stay in the game for a while and a decent attempt at trying to snatch an equalizer during a spell around 80-90 mins. What annoys me is that every time we come up against a terrible referee like that we lose our heads and get absurd bookings as a result. Yes, the challenge from Vardy on Hoedt was bad, but getting both your head coach and captain booked in the process is just unprofessional. Similar with Asprilla's booking - what is he thinking trying to argue to no end about an offside decision that made no difference when we're chasing an equalizer. They did the same thing against Sunderland - numerous bookings for complaining about decisions and finally a sending off and subsequent banning. You would think they would learn at some point...
Good evening Keighley. I've just reached the epicentre of the Iliad and my translation thereof. Siege of Troy,us without godlike Hector,he of the bronze helmet,nor any assistance from Athena or Poseidon. Nor it appears any Titans to clash with their Titan that is Steptoe. Nor I fear an Odysseus,of many devices, to plot and scheme with the wooden horse. Πόλιν ύβριν;
Not to disappointed with that game, we were both up for it but rather impotent. Hadn't realised Bachmann was previously booked but he had no option but to go for the ball after being caught short by calamity Porteous. Great support for the team too from our fans too.
IMO 1st half we were not to bad and had our moments even tho our CF could not get hold of the ball . 2cnd half for 30 minutes we were shyte. The ball went forward , it came straight back , on and on ad finitum . We changed the no. 9 . Same shyt different player . Could we get the ball high up ? No chance . So we had to play a possession game and got caught out . Eventually due to some changes that may have been a little late we could apply some pressure but got caught out late on .. Is it childish to say that Vardy should not have been on the pitch following his challenge after his yellow ?
Thought it wasn't too bad first half, Rajovic missed a sitter and his lack of general hold-up play just didn't help us when we needed an out. The plan was to clearly feed Sema and try and get a ball in but apart from getting beat by pace, Pereira marshalled him pretty well and didn't let him get a quality ball in. Second half was a different story, subbing off Livermore hurt us, hope he's not injured? Kayembe then dropped in to mark Vardy, which wasn't pretty. Porteous had a bit of a 'mare, a coach has to tell him to stop diving in and rushing BEYOND the ball. Also should have scored. I thought Hoedt was quietly okay again, looks better with Sierralta next to him. Louza couldn't get into it but certainly tried harder, Kone cameo was really promising. I think Martins should have come on earlier, Leicester weren't all that defensively, they were quite slow and they weren't trying THAT hard. A it of invention and drive might have been better than Ince's industry. Ref was atrocious IMO. Certainly an improvement on Sunderland and Leeds, the last two times we played a good team, so some credit for them there. Beat Norwich and this result is much easier to stomach, lose to Norwich in a bad manner and I'll be concerned.
Result was expected really, probably did well to keep it to 1-0 up until the penalty. Kone should've started instead of Louza. Livermore shouldn't have been subbed off (although maybe that was down to fitness/injury) Martins or Aspirilla over Ince as a starter. We need a new keeper. Choudhury looked alright, wouldn't mind him in our squad.
Only 4 pages in the main match post at this stage on a Saturday evening tells a story that Fans aren’t too displeased with the performance and subsequent result, we would usually be up to double that after an away defeat!
Just as well we didn’t score when Porteous had his shot as everyone would be really annoyed had we then lost due to that penalty!
Thought we battled well and certainly put in a shift, so I can't argue with that. They had the quality which made the difference, and we did well to hang on for as long as we did. The only negatives I have were the subs, Ince looked out on his feet for most the second half yet stayed on far too long. Chaktevadze will never be a player suited by the Championship imo, but happy to be proven wrong. Bachmann is a fool & Louza was dissapointing, It was hard to see the Rajovic miss from down the other end, but it sounds bad. But yes, we lost, however we showed a fair bit of commitment and very nearly held out for a point.
The 2cnd half for 30minutes looked like an attack Vs defence training game. Against the decent sides we need a player that can win the ball and bring others into play . A Deeney Mk2 ?
TBF he made the difference . Scored 2 missed 2 was a constant thorn as opposed to our forwards who work hard trying to win the ball back after their awful first touch .
I agree, it's something which we don't have though but I thought we put in a decent enough performance with what we have at our disposal. Porteous missed a big chance near the end too.
Yep . But will this be addressed in January or will the latest teenage Peruvian no.10 be unveiled at Vicarage Rd ?. I can see why Porteous took the shot on because although Martins was in a better position if the GK anticipated the pass and took a step to his right then he wouldn't have been able to make the save. In fact it was good goalkeeping as he dealt with the danger , the player with the ball, and not with what should have happened , a pass to Martins
Towards the end of the match there was some kind of kerfuffle at the back of the stands . A lot of pointing shouting and jumping up and down . Anyway some young lad got frogmarched out but I saw him in the concourse earlier with his GF . Who takes their GF to a football game and gets chucked out leaving her to fend for herself ? Extraordinary.
