TBF it's only today that most discovered that he hasn't lived up to his price tag and that we're about to sell him for far less than we bought him for. You can't expect posters not to react to news like that.

If you ignore any and all context then I guess it’s hilarious, yeah, but in reality it’s both appalling business in the context of the club and it’s impact on our fortunes and what we paid for him, and also good business based on the current circumstances of him having only a year on his deal, and also him just being fairly crap.

Good luck, Isma*la, captive here for far too long!

I do find it interesting that days after resolving a years long transfer dispute with Marseilles, we then sell them our most valuable player.

Back door deals being surely done.

Edit: why is i with a double dot censored!?

Good luck to him, We have in no way helped with his development during his four years. He wasn't great last year but he must have hoped for better when he originally signed. As for the price, nobody really knows if it's @Burnsy with his £17-£20m or £11m now being mentioned and if there is sell on clause. Hopefully it's nearer what Burnsy said and we might be able to add to the squad now

Maybe you are right but i guess its not clear cut and definitve either way. I don't propose either of us should go back and add it all up as that would be tedious.

I'm not arguing we've not made some p1ss poor transfers because we obviously have and it is frustrating. But my wider point was are we really that different from a lot of other clubs in this respect. Yeah there are notable exceptions like Brighton, but I think there are also a load of clubs like us with a mixed bag in the transfer market. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

I agree with the sentiment and overall point. I don't think the failed transfers are the biggest problem, but the care taken to ensure the player fits a role we need and the profile the incumbent head coach required.

Andre Gray is a good example where it seemed to make sense because we needed a pacey, English proven striker but care wasn't taken to ensure that it was within a reasonable price range. We got carried away on a player with some hype and the price tag to try and announce we were serious. That's a more nuanced example.

Then you have the inexplicable transfers such as Rey Manaj who's career showed nothing being up to standard, gave him a comfy contract and then terminated it, costing us more. That's the infuriating kind. Or Okoye, who's time is being wasted with us and money tied up in a depreciating asset who did not suit our squad needs.

    Bye Isma.

All you had to do was boot it 20 yards beyond the defender and then run like búggery - we know you can do it. We saw you do it. Pace was your thing.

    Why did you stop?

I’m actually quite gutted. His talent is undeniable, if he can work on his attitude then this move will be the making of him. He’s still only 25.

Granted most of the time he looked disinterested but when he could be bothered he was a real handful. Basically got us promoted with Pedro and stuck around after two relegations when he could easily have abandoned ship at first opportunity. I know most are glad to see the back of him but I hope he does really well in France

Look at Sarr's expression. He's clearly devasted to be leaving the nurturing embrace and stability of Watford. That's a fake smile and his eyes are holding back the tears. It's Iggy all over again. I reckon he was desperate to extend his contract with us.

I remember during that Liverpool game feeling conviction that we would stay up. I was thinking ahead to the new season and the thought of an on form duo of Sarr and Deloufeu tearing down the wings the envy of the division and everything clicking into place with a few new signings. For a moment it all seemed on. Then Virgil Van D1ck ended the dream with an appalling assault on Deloufeu which for me was the revolving doors moment which launched us down an alternative timeline of despair. That game was a pyrrhic victory if ever there was one.

Such a shame that for whatever reason we only saw him play his very best football on so few occasions.
Still, at least we know he’ll be back in 7 years time on a 3 year deal.

At the start of that season I was so excited at the prospect of a front line of GD, a fit again Welbeck, and Sarr. With Capoue, Doucs, Pereyra, Hughes etc behind. Defence strengthening by the signing of rock solid reliable Dawson from WBA. Happy dreamy days.

I think spending will continue to be pennies, or loans with an option. The money raised from incoming transfer fees in this window alone amounts to £58m. We've spent a total of £50k so far on incoming transfers and I don't expect that to significantly increase.
