Collapsed during the Spurs v Bolton game. Game stopped for about 15 minutes with medics on the pitch trying to "resuscitate" him before being taken off the pitch, players crying and praying. Rumour is a heart attack.

Hopefully it's not as serious as that and he pulls through.

He wasn't breathing as he was taken from the pitch.

The news doesn't sound great, he was being resuscitated on the way to the hospital. So scary and depressing. Hope he's ok.

If such a terrible thing had to happen, I guess at a football stadium was one of the best places, with all the first aid and medical help being so close..plus proximity to nearby hospitals etc. It sounds as if the response was very good with the St John Ambulance staff doing a fantastic job.

Reports on twitter say the ambulence crew confirmed that he was breathing in the ambulence.

I was watching it live and it deeply upset me so I dread to think what it must be like for his family.

Thought I would spread awareness and tell you if anyone is between the ages of 14 and 35 I definitely recommend having this free screening test:

I have had it and it didn't take long. I really really hope he pulls through.

I was wondering how many times this thread would carry "This puts football into perspective". Cliché or what!? Lets hope he pulls through, it really puts things in to perspective .....oh what, can't beleive I just did that!?!!!

Statement at 9:30 from the hospital says Muamba is critically ill..so Sky jumped the gun somewhat sadly.

the unnfortunate thing with the current media, twitter, facebook and 24hr news channels is that there is so much information being spoke that its hard to filter the truth from it all.

At least he is in the best place possible and getting the best care

Horrible news, what a tragic way to end a game of football.

I truly hope Fabrice pulls through. We're all thinking of you lad.

Terrible to think that his family and friends were most likely watching this all happen thousands of miles away on TV.

I really hope he pulls through this.

Terribly sad news yesterday. Its amazing how so many of us can feel so affected by something concerning a person we don’t actually know in real life. All part of being part of the football family I guess. I’m sure many of us also felt the same with those poor youngsters in Switzerland last week.

Does it put life in perspective and make us realise football is just a game? Yes..but probably just for a short period. It won’t be long before players are hurling abuse at refs again over minor decisions, fans appear on radio phone-ins demanding managerial sackings and criticising players..and we on this excellent forum start worrying again about Iwelumo's poor goal record and whether Britt should have played from the start etc. Life does go on..but in the meantime, good luck to PM in his recovery. I'm sure every football supporter’s thoughts are with you.

Why on earth would anyone want to watch someone being resuscitated on YouTube?

That is one of the most grotesque examples of voyeurism imaginable

It doesn't put football into perspective one iota. That's the typical soundbite that happens in incidents like this.

It should (actually) promote a sense of perspective about the fragility of life, not it's relationship with a load of men kicking a ball around.

It's upsetting. I wish him a speedy recovery, but in a non-cliche type of way

  34. Malteser

Agree entirely with the last post.

  35. Agreed. Of course we wish him the best, goes without saying. But...it's all getting a bit out of hand. I can't remember Marc-Vivienne Foé's death causing this much fuss, and Sunday League players must have heart attacks every other week.
