Indeed. Thought you were excellent. Playing with a passion and desire I can only dream of the England team showing.
That's true but we have always been a team for the big games (Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Italy, England, Spain, etc while we were losing to the likes of Luxembourg and Latvia).
Any old team can get in now. A lot of the traditional yo-yo teams who flit between qualification and non-qualification every 4 years seem to have taken their foot off the gas in anticipation that 2 auto places plus a play-off place would see them through for sure. Rude awakenings in nearly every group instead has been the outcome.
Wales are participating in literally the most cringeworthy celebration I've ever seen in my life. You'd think they'd won the tournament the way they're going mad. There's a podium, confetti cannons, champagne... :]]
Was listening to 5 live on the way home last night. The amount they ranted about Bale and Wales's amazing qualification and achievement was unbearable. They wanted Bale to get subbed so he could have a fitting standing ovation. Someone ought to remind them they've won nothing and they struggled to break down ANDORRA. It was very Bournemouth-esque. Having said that, it's nice to have home nations in the finals, I for one would have liked to see Iketchi Anya there too.
Wales haven't qualified for a major tournament for 50 odd years, I think they are entitled to celebrate! They beat the number 1 team in the world, Belgium, on the way to qualifying, so give them credit where its due.
Absolutely. Lap of honour, Welsh flags, waving at the crowd. Not the embarrassing thing they did. Only surprise was Prantini didn't turn up and award them the trophy.
Wales manage to qualify for a tournament for the first time in 50 years & they are the golden boys. England qualify for yet another tournament winning 10/10 games & it's a resounding "Meah, so what?" It's a funny old game, Saint.
England still won't get out the group stages though...so it's a deserved "Meah, so what?" in all probability.
So the England squad for Friday and Tuesday - Not quite the Euro's but thought it was worthy of a post as we now look towards them. Will be interesting to see how we do against better opposition, I guess our last game against a decent team was Italy back in March. Glad to see some youngsters in the squad - Both Alli and Dier have big futures ahead of them, Barkley, Kane, Stones and Sterling all still under the age of 21 - more importantly, all of which are getting regular game time. Would be fantastic if Vardy can continue his form throughout the season, and looks like Kane is now picking up a few goals after a quiet start.
Cathcart had a great game for us tonight. No idea why we played Latvia, they were awful and we played the game at a stroll.
Probably because if you're having the issue Wales are none of the big nations want to play friendlies against you, preferring to play each other instead.
Yea, we aren't really an attractive side for the likes of Spain etc to play but surely we could've played someone a bit better than Latvia, someone like Czech Republic, Iceland, those sort of teams
