The Pozzo's have a plan and they are not wasting time putting that plan in to place. Dyche will have had a decent pay off, and will get another job. He did really well here under very difficult circumstances...

One thing no one seems to have picked up on...Zola speaks English and Italian which is going to help if we have players from Italy.

I say we all say a BIG thanks to Sean wish him well and then get behind Zola and the new owners.

The biggest problem is the dilema for the fans. On one hand we have been saved from administration and have a bright future. On the other we are seeing a bright young manager, that has been our saviour last season, sacked. Without his imput we would have been in League One for sure and the Pozzo's would not have purchased the club in the first place.

It's a real bitter/sweet moment. Clearly Dyche didn't deserve the sack, but then the club didn't deserve the shafting it got from Mackay and Rodgers. It's football and right or wrong, it happens.

Personally I'm very disappointed that Dyche could not be placed within the new regime, but Zola is also a very good manager and clearly will be a better fit for the owners we now have.

Dyche wont be out of a job for long and he would have been well taken care of financially I'm sure. The only downside is there may be a backlash from current players over the treatment of Dyche. There may now be more wholesale changes in playing staff than I would have first thought.

There's a difference between changing everything and keeping some continuity. So far its only dyche but youd be daft to imagine it'll stop here.

Other fans just do not get it, take no notice. Says it all they're saying they want us to get relegated. Why? Pozzo's sacked him, the fans didn't get him sacked, and they'd know why the owners sacked him if they knew what was going on, although i disagree with it, I understand it. Do some research before you comment. Same as the West Ham fans saying 'YE UNLU'Y MATE, GU'ED.' This does decrease the time the Pozzo's have to get it 'right' though. If at the end of the season we finish below last year's position, depending on the circumstances/ signs of improvement, questions will be asked, but I for one will give it time and stick by them.

Good luck to Sean, he turned the season round when it appeared we were on the slippery slope downwards, but to be honest I wasnt overly impressed with the signings he bought in. There were times last season that I really didn't think he was the man to take us forward but he silenced the majority by uniting the squad and pulled us through.

He'll be OK, he finished the season as one of the candidates for the top gaffer in the division so I'm sure he'll jump straight into another hot seat, he's probably on his way for an interview as we speak.

But times are a changing and we must accept the Pozzo's decision and get fully behind Zola and his expected new backroom team if we are to move forward.

    All aboard the Pozzo Bus!!!

Yes I'm sure some of the backroom staff will follow but can't we trust the owners know what they're doing? As I said this is the very beginning of a (hopefully) bright future for the club. As the saying goes 'you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs'. I don't agree Dyche should go but I also welcome the fact we could get a world famous manager in charge. Why try and stay little old Watford forever? Let's embrace what these guys are bringing and try and bloody enjoy it!

If Dyche has been sacked/released from his contract (however you wish to word it) then I feel it could well be a blessing in disguise for him.

He's had nothing but praise from all that have worked with and under him during his very short stint as WFC manager.
By and large he's been successful in what he's achieved, ie replacing valuable 1st team players & youngsters with a number of experienced pro's while attaining a very respectful final league placing when relegation was more likely at the start of the season.

Should Dyche stay on and get sacked by Christmas it wouldn't enhance his reputation any.
Should he stay and lead WFC into the Premiership I feel he would be looking over his shoulder once more as the Pozzo's would more than likely look to a more experienced manager to coach better players in a better league.

If he goes now, however, Dyche has an untarnished reputation with which to take to any prospective new employers.

He has worked out well for Watford and Watford has worked out well for him.
Now, though, seems as good a time as any to move on due to circumstance rather than results.

Edit: Just a reminder to those who look for loyalty and the community club feel WFC has supposedly stood for for some years.. sorry but that's gone. It hasn't really been around for a while, not in it's original sense anyway, but now we have serious money behind the club then results will be the key factor. Expect chopping and changing on a turbulant ride but WFC is no longer 'little old Watford' so look forward to some cold, harsh, modern day football realities.

This is my first post on this site, mainly because i did once create an ID and then promptly lost the password and couldn't be bothered going through the process again. That said I have alwas found this site informative and at times entertaining. I fully expect to attract a massive flaming for what I am posting but I am sick and tired of what has been happenng at the club.

I think football clubs along with close family and friends are unique in that they command fierce loyalty from birth to death. Very often the first ground you go to, and drag your kids to, is where you end up watching football for life. I know there are guys on here that have been going to the Vic and around the country following Watford for years more than me but I have put in a shift lasting 41 years while my sons have now put in 14, 11 and 7 respectively. Personally I think the treatment of Dyche is a disgrace but there are a whole bunch of things that I am unhappy with that at this moment make me feel that I want to call it a day following Watford. I don't want Zola, I don't want to be part of this ridiculous idea that we are now a "family" with a club in Spain and one in Italy that we have never remotely been linked to in the past. We probably have more connections with the pikeys at Junction 10 than this lot.

We will never really know what the money situation was with Bassini and what he took or didn't but I would like to know the truth around any other purchasers or options that may have been around. Personally I hate the premier league and everything it stands for, it is over rated and does nothing for the football pyramid except throw a few quid at promoted teams who then embark on trying to stay there by paying inflated wages for pretty average players. Congratulations to teams that have managed to stay there but weren't Bolton the model that everyone should emulate? Why be in a league where you can't compete? I don't want to bring age into it again but how many on here can remember the charges through the divisions to the heady heights of second in division one? That will never happen again.

The club needs stability and if these people deliver that then all well and good. I hope they can build the fan base back up so that Watford can once again have a four sided ground but at this moment in time it will be without my family.

I don't really understand the 'without my family' thing.

Are the Pozzo's going to have gladiator battles at half time?

As a whole its definitely positive, I'm just pointing out that sacking dyche isn't or wasn't the only option and to do so is actually a risk.

Oh I agree it's a risk. Any new manager is a risk, especially one who's going to be new to this level.

Stopped supporting the club because of this? My word mate, huge overreaction. HB1 I think a backlash is unlikely unless the owners say something that irks the players (unlikely) and, more importantly, if they don't like the replacement. Zola is, above all, a really nice person, so again, I think that's very unlikely.

  20. nascot

    nascot First Team

And you would hope the players would jump at the chance to work with/for a legend of the game. It's not some unknown from non-league coming in, it's one of the most respected (ex) footballers in the world.

  21. hornetboy1

    hornetboy1 First Team Captain

Of course. I should imagine once the shock has worn off, most players will adapt and enjoy working with Zola. He is a top guy, there's no doubt about that. The only concern was the team spirit created last season moved mountains, and that is bound to take a dip (short term at least).

Having said that, any player that does not fit the new era, will be out, and the Pozzo's have the ability to replace any player in our squad in the blink of an eye.

Although I am deeply disappointed for Sean Dyche, I just want to play devil's advocate here...

Remember not long ago at Newcastle when Chris Hughton was sacked to make way for Pardew and holy hell there was major uproar from the football world. Those same people baying for blood are probably now feeling dead chuffed with how things turned out. Maybe, just maybe, we could have something similar.

  24. Budfrog

Whilst I am excited about the future I feel really uncomfortable about the way this has been handled. The verbal agreement to install Zola intimates that Sean Dyche was never considered for the post, let alone interviewed.

Hope it works out well for us and Sean Dyche, at least he left on a relative high and will be highly employable ... very little loyalty left in football and that's sad.

Watford refusing to comment on whether Gianfranco Zola has replaced Sean Dyche

11:01am Tuesday 3rd July 2012 in Watford FC News

Watford are refusing to comment on whether Sean Dyche has been replaced as manager by Gianfranco Zola.

Zola has been linked with the Hornets' job for several weeks and sources told the Watford Observer last week that Dyche would indeed be replaced.

We understand Dyche was in the club offices yesterday and it has been widely reported that the former centre half has been replaced by Zola.

However, Watford are still refusing to comment on the matter.

If the new owners , you know , the ones who APPEAR to have saved us from great misfortune , want their Italian loan kids managed by an Italian legend , and want the club to be able to attract players of greater calibre than ****inson , then what else could they have done?

Sacked ? , He hasnt been sacked , he has been laid off , big difference , and i`ll bet his bank account looks rosy from it an all

The thing is our connection with Spain & Italy is a bit more solid than the other teams you have mentioned!!!

This is because they only have foreign owners, whereas our new owner also owns football teams in those countries and his business plan seems to be to interlink those teams, so we are all thinking he will probably do the same with WFC? So maybe all the Italy/Spain nonsense as you call it, is not such nonsense after all ;)

    Let's be harsh here.

We are all Watford fans. We want our team to win matches.

If we win matches next season and climb the league and mount a promotion challenge, last season will seem just a distant memory.

    Football moves on quickly.

Were Huddesrsfield fans mourning Lee Clarke for long? No..coz their new guy took them up. Ditto Wednesday with Megson.
