In the meantime, here is my unreasonably optimistic take. Roy has got the back 4 organised, and bar an unfortunate deflection that gave Foster no chance, that would be 2 clean sheets in a row on the road. At the back Foster is a massive upgrade on Bachman, if only for his presence and calmness. We've got Louza back from AFCON, and as Kucka had his 1 in 4 decent game against W Ham, maybe he should come out. Sissoko hopefully got his totally **** game out of his system on Tuesday.

Is Sarr available? Not mentioned on the website one way or another, but hopefully back and ready to go. He won't be up to speed with the Hodgson way of course, maybe subbed on to provide some individual flair. Kalu should be fully integrated - hopefully he will be as positive an addition as the other January recruits.

On our opponents: a solid side, but nothing to be scared of - on a run of draws (and loss to Spuds) which might be starting to weigh on them. Graham Potter seems a decent sort. Brighton is nice. It has a green MP. I'd quite like to live there.

    Chin up Hornets!

There, wasn't too hard was it?

We can use this one for now. If/when @GarbeliaHornet writes it and posts it, we can replace it.

Ok - I think this is a make or break game. I know we have said this so often this season, but in all honesty getting anything at West Ham was always a tough ask - despite losing to a fluke goal. This game "should" see the return of our talisman Sarr. Now, after lifting the AFCON Trophy (well done sir!) I really hope he can "lift" the spirits of the fans' and finally put some oomph into our attack. However Roy sets us up - we surely cannot sit back for 90mins and lump fortunes on half chances and penalties. Brighton are not invincible - and they beat us so easily at their place in August as we just didn't turn up.

Also, a repeat of the opening fixture of the 19/20 season would surely lead to ... don't even want to think about that. I would say let's go more attacking from the outset. We have much more riding on his game than Brighton do - and if we lose and Burnley, Norwich and Newcastle all win - that would put us bottom with tough trips to Villa and Palarse to follow. 1pt from his first two games isn't much but we have been performing better overall. I just hope we have been working on our shooting this week.

    Watford 2 Brighton 1

Another good performance and an unlucky defeat with Brighton only having 17 shots compared to our 2, 80% of the ball and 2 goals disallowed.

My money is on the most boring game we've ever seen and if we win it then I'll get the champagne out.

71 left in the Rookery left apparently.

We’ll see how many turn up - isn’t the most popular sort of game anyway .

    Half term next week too.

Brighton dont score many, so barring any freak incidents/refereeing blunders we can realistically hope for a clean sheet here.

Hopefully Sarr, Dennis or Pedro can pull off a piece of individual brilliance too score as we dont really look to threatening in our teamplay.

A piece of luck to go our way would be a welcome turn of events.

Please no more King. Requires too many chances to score. Hard work is not enough, might as well have Deeney if thats all he offers.

Agreed, Kings tries but has delivered nothing (1 assist) in 9 games of playing every minute.
We have to try to win, which means scoring goals, time to try someone different.

I'm sure he's a nice bloke and I know the injuries weren't his fault but I get very irritated whenever I see him playing for Brighton, after he contributed pretty much nothing for a whole season with us as we got relegated then just upped and left on a free.

Hopefully the club have still got the flamethrowers from the Norwich game out back. If they could spread those around the pitch and put them on a nice steady heat that would be great on a cold day.

Sarr is back at the training ground.

Last act was to score the winner in our last victory. Seems a long, long time ago.

I'll be drinking cheap Beer at Spoons, rather than cheap wine in Bosleys before the game. This change of drink will mean a change in fortune for the flappy Hornets. I'm prepared to accept that I will need the loo more often, sad times for me, good times for the Hornets.

I think we have a good chance of a win to be fair, we have played much better in the last 2 games (defensively and midfield) and we were unlucky against spam.

however other scores are going against us , we realistically need between 20 and 25 points for survival from 16 games , even if Roy gets the attack working like the defence we are still going down as we need to average around 1.5 points per game

I’m not sure if it’s better to go down fighting or just give up now, love watching Watford but nothing as depressing as watching; us edge ever closer to the drop

They've drawn over 50% of their games this season, 12 draws in 22 games

We've only had Sarr available for 50% of our games.

What does this tell us? Absolutely nothing.
