We already have a lot of these scattered around the forum and it's clear, we're a hard headed, opinionated lot, but often, we find ourselves 100% committed to passionate opinions that nobody else seems to agree with.

What are your unpopular opinions that you don't care if you're the only person who believes them? You still know you're right.

I'll go first. Sugababes are 10X better than the Spice girls.

It's easy to do with music. I got in a right ruck with some (now departed) posters on here for stating the indisputable fact that XTC were better than Squeeze.

Leonard Cohen is far superior to Bob Dylan.

    David Bowie is overrated.

    etc etc.

    Following up on recent posts:

    The Dutch are great.

    (Far preferable to the Belgians).

Companies relentless drive to ensure (younger) females get equal opportunities and equal pay as their (older) male counterparts. As much as equality is absolutely the correct thing to achieve, ensuring their competence is equal, but the way companies have gone about this is badly thought out.

Replacing the 50+ males whom, in most families, is the main bread winner has led to so many "older" men being out of work without hope of gaining employment again and bringing on stress on finances, marriages etc

So many people I know are in this place...

There’s so many holes in this it’s hard to know where to start, but firstly how do they get rid of those older men (redundancy requires a formal process) and how come these invaluable old timers can’t get another job? And why in 2023 are men the sole bread winners? Send their lazy wives out to work FFS.

Fact is, it can be a tough World for unadaptable older chaps. But it can be for anyone.

I'm recruiting and have been told that the three positions should be female or a minority group, ie no white men. I can understand the need to address the balance in our area, but I'm somewhat uncomfortable that we may miss good candidates and also that my son would be discriminated against.

I asked my boss if being a quarter Armenian would put me in the minority bracket and she said "probably".

HR were actually quite clear that they won't operate a positive discrimination policy.

You can make any member of staff redundant if you want to. Formal process yes, but have often been involved in planned processes to remove members of staff for reasons other than the quality of their job performance. "Sickness days" for example was always one of the legally acceptable ways to rate staff against their peers and conclude a redundancy process. Another was make their role redundant and then rehire someone for the same role 3 months and one day later....

No, but seriously, to quote the OP:

'What are your unpopular opinions that you don't care if you're the only person who believes them? You still know you're right.'

@Halfwayline was perfectly entitled to post this on that basis and the thread isn't supposed to generate a debate.

EDIT: see that my chum TUT has said similar.
