Quite a lot of posters on these Forums exhibit a similar ratio. In fact, I could be one of them myself!
3-0 to the 'Orns. Swansea are no West Brom and they will have to come looking for 3 points. Btw, I love the fact that we are playing in the greatest league in the world and our financial woes are hopefully a thing of the past, but at this time of year I do miss the bumper Easter fixture list which used to see something like: Good Friday - Torquay Utd (A) Easter Saturday - Rochdale (H) Easter Monday - Tranmere Rovers (A) I wonder if today's players could manage 4 games in 3 days with a lot of less than luxurious travel. Also in those days there were far smaller squads and only one substitute.
It's not a game that is easy to call, both sides need.at least a point. Swansea gave us our first win last season and they can be a very defensive team. I think we'll win but its going to be a slog in the later stages, as they bombard us when we are leading.
They need the win. The longer the game goes on, whether they are drawing or losing, they will go long ball. Unless Prodl is risked then we could be weaker in the air than we would wish and will Maz bring back Berhami if fit to mark Sigurdson? I hope he continues with Dacoure and plays us on the front foot. Their defence is poor defending headers so I expect us to try and put a lot of crosses in. 2-0 to the Horns!
This is our biggest match of the season. Win this and we're staying up. Draw and we'll probably be ok, but a lose and I think we'll be in big trouble. So you can see, a lot is riding on it.
I just hope the players are not as blasé as many of the forum posters about the team being safe. If they play with the attitude of "yeah well we'll get three points somewhere in the next seven games, innit" , it will be a nerve-wracking end to the season. I hope Walter and Troy are drumming "Let's just get it done" into their heads. We shall know by 5 o'clock, I guess. We'll also know if Dowling missed a trick letting Tom Carroll sneak off down the M4 right under his nose (You can guess my view on that!)
"How daft, the attitude of 30 fans on here has no real impact on today's result". No of course not, I am talking about the attitude of the team. I don't know what influences that. I only know that for most of the games this season that attitude has not been as determined as I expect from a Watford team. If the midfield stroll around posing and do not get right in Carroll's, Routledge's and (later) Montero's faces to stop crosses, Llorrente will get chances against our two weakest central defenders in the air.
They're literally the polar opposite? Boro keep out goals but don't score many. Swansea can score a few but leak goals for fun.
The next game is crucial. It's 60/40 at the moment. If we win the next game we are safer lose or draw and we right back in it
What do people think will happen when teams like us go attacking to kill games off? We'll get hit on the counter and we'll throw away 2 points. Mazzarri did the right thing again today with the players we have, and we've come away with another good result. How many real, clear cut chances did Swansea actually have after we shut up shop? A difficult header from Sigurdsson? Add to that Okaka was a yard away from making it 2-0, a relatively comfortable game.
3 points and another season in the Premier League (pretty much) confirmed, despite numerous injuries to influential players. Well done Walter.
Finally. Job well done to be honest, wasn't always pretty but what do you expect. You could tell by Deeney and the benches celebrations that it meant a lot to them and they think they're safe now. Mazzarri has done the job in hand. We're 10th, 3 home wins in a row, 3 home clean sheets in a row, he's got the summer now to clear out dead wood, learn English and really build a squad for next season with hopefully a higher level of football and consistency. I do believe next season could be a really promising one. The return of Pereyra will be like a new signing as well the signings we actually make. Also a top 10 finish won't hurt our chances of attracting a higher calibre of player for next season so I hope the players don't get lazy now they know they are safe. And next week for the first time this season HB1 can't say "the next two games are the most important of our season"
Job done - Swansea didn't create much. Holebas and Mariappa very good. Had a few efforts but seemed content with the 1-0.
Agree - although think WM may be slightly to blame with all out injuries I do think it is a hell of an achievement to be 10th on 40 points with 6 games to go. Only have to see teams like Villa, Leeds, Newcastle to see what can happen. Surviving for 3 or 4 seasons is massive for Watford and if we have to scrape points by playing a little negatively I am still happy. Let's get the players back(Pereya, Zarratti) plus a few new signings and things will be looking up. Doucoure has only just started playing - with players back and a few new we can be a good team
What a goal that would have been for Okaka! The only real negative I can take out of that game was the really poor atmosphere- or at least, from where I was sitting it was dreadful in my opinion. I am not trying to criticize the 1881, in fact I am a keen supporter of them. It's actually the rest of the Rookery that should take blame. None of the chants were travelling around the stadium like they have done in the past and it seemed like half of them were depressed realising that the Easter Holiday is almost over. Other than that, we are safe! Lets try and get three points from Hull and maybe nick a few from Leicester and Everton
The 'Curates egg' season. Good in parts but basically not as good as it could be due to a poor cook. Mazzari is not going - he will come back next season speaking English. Will Troy be here? £20+ m from the Brummies or Wet Spam I think he could be gone. Pozzos will do what's best for the club and with injured players back next season and Troy/Mazzari spat, I think they think Mazzari is better for WFC in medium term.
