So basically there's nothing concrete that is actually saying we're pulling out/refusing to pay 20m for Boufal and people are getting all worked up about it on here and on twitter? Pull yourselves together for the love of God (or god, I was being polite by capitalising the "G"). If we don't think he's worth it then we're not gonna ***** 20m on him (even if it is €20m). We have alternatives which could be (and probably are) cheaper but will still do what Boufal does. The fact that some are getting pissed off because apparently we're not willing to pay 20m (£ or € I have no idea and don't care) is exactly why I hate the Prem in the first place. Gino knows our accounts and knows what's going on in a financial sense. If we're refusing to pay that money for him to get a cheaper (but relatively similar) alternative in order to make our books look better, then so be it. I'd much rather trust Gino than someone with little-to-no connections in the club (and that's me putting it politely).

I'm also saying all of the above on the basis of us actually pulling out of signing Boufal, because there's a very good chance we're gonna come back with a higher bid. Silence is very much a good thing because that's how the Pozzos do things. Can we please all calm down?

Social media is both one of the best and worst things to happen for transfers. any dodgy account with another followers can spread a rumour claiming to be 'itk' and that sticks followed by a furious reaction from a set of supporters.

As mentioned we know the Pozzo's have the clubs best interests at heart and if they thought the player was integral to success they're not going to penny pinch over a few million quid are they. We are in the realms of multi million pound deals which inevitably comes with snags and stipulations which need ironing out, it may well be that Lille want a huge % of any future sale as they are thinking he could be worth double what he is now and the Pozzos aren't happy with that.

Truth is no one apart from the people directly involved has any idea, let's not panic just yet.

Sorry nothing to add. Just psychologically I feel we have more chance of signing him if his name stays near the top of the list.

 

I'm not fussed - we need someone who is fit for the start of the season.

 

Would perhaps be the greatest signing ever - we'd smash our transfer record and then have to wait for 2 months into the season before he was fit enough to play!
