Why would Saints offer £20M for a player they've already agreed to sell for £13M? (I think that's roughly what we offered). Did somebody in the press corp get confused between pounds & euros again?

 

How so? That article stood by everything they had previously said, absolutely and to the letter. This is not a reversal by WDS, but a very unfortunate misinterpretation of a very clearly stated article.

Yesterday i saw that they had had £12.6m turned down, £17m excepted and £20m excepted. Why they would have two bids excepted god only knows

Today the Mail (yep I know) says that Southampton lead the race with a £16m bid and that they are "hopeful"

All we do know is that we have had a bid accepted and that we have been in negotiation for over a month. The most recent being "in the final stages"

If you are in the final stages then you are pretty far down the line of an agreement. Don't rule us out of this one just yet.

 

Southampton just excelerated past us to get their bids excepted, fml.

 

As much as people say what a great player he is, I would still be sceptical of signing an injured player. For a club like Southampton who are on a better financial footing it's less of a risk for them.

 

Hopefully because of on going negotiations we'll be able to get him ahead of Southampton, although, Southampton is always going to have a much bigger lure than Watford so don't blame him going there.

This won't be the first or last time another club is in for a player we are and we know the owners won't do a deal if it's not deemed right for the club or if the cost sky rockets beyond what we are prepared to pay.

If we do land him though it is a very good sign that the Soton manager who must have seen a lot of him is trying so hard to get him also the interest from Valencia etc. does make it seems like a very exciting prospect if he comes.

Claude Puel managed Lille from 2002 -> 2008
Boufal was only 15 in 2008 and actually joined Lille 7 years after Puel left....
