Bravo to the journalist for bringing this out into the open. And bravo to Brunt. With the possible exception of Kieran, WBA strike me as a team of good sorts. In the trenches, I’d welcome the presence of Brunt & Dawson. It would ease the tension of knowing death was just round the corner having Ben F there & getting his reflections on the Vic.
If this thread doubles as Promotion Watch, Joka inbound! Phenomenal from the lugubrious Serb. Don’t rule out automatic.
Wow! I wonder if potential employers would ever consider him if they read this. But, am I talking about Pardew or Crooks?

Interesting piece on Southampton’s travails. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2018/apr/06/mark-hughes-southampton-way-jacob-steinberg
Did anyone else hear the West Brom fan on 606 last Saturday? It was the most entertaining part of my journey back from the match through torrential downpours and traffic jams on the M25 and A3. The Baggies fan claimed that the media had a vendetta against West Brom (sound familiar anyone on here?!) and only wrote negative things. He claimed West Brom fans should ignore the negativity, be more upbeat and not believe the team was doomed to relegation as there was every chance they'd stay up. Savage and his co-host were slightly incredulous at this so went through the remaining fixtures asking him if he thought West Brom could realistically win them: Savage: Swansea at home? West Brom fan: Yes Savage: Manchester Utd away? Fan: Utd will fall apart after losing to City the week before so, yes, we'll win that Savage: Liverpool away? Fan: (after a pause) Draw The fan then had West Brom staying up after winning all their remaining fixtures against Newcastle, Spurs and Crystal Palace. I like a bit of blind optimism among a club's fan base but this had me laughing out loud by the end of it.
Chris Sutton was hilarious on 5 Live’s Monday Night Club. Wasn’t exactly kind towards Pardew, but described the players as pirates and baboons.
Can't imagine Huddersfield or Palace will do anything other than come at us like their lives depend on it. We won't be able to handle them. Spurs away is a write off too. Don't think we're in danger of relegation but Newcastle will decide whether we end up 17th or not.
He was utterly unhinged, poor chap! He also said that Wolves would not go up. By then I had visions of him in a padded cell,Herbert Lom like, crayoning 'Baggies' on the walls in red!
Well that's made me feel more miserable. Going to Huddersfield and thought I might see a rare away win
I agree with this. Newcastle is the game I think could save us, but I'm not too sure about being safe. If we lose our last 5, and let's be honest we are more than capable of doing that, then hoping 37 points is enough to keep you up is heavily relying of the failings of other sides.
Southampton play twice before we kick off at 3pm next Saturday. I think we'll know by then if they have any hope at all of catching us. If they're still 9pts back I can't see it happening.
I agree. If Southampton lose their two games in hand I think we'll be fine, but they have a new manager and they do have good players. I really can see them getting a few decent results in the final run in. No one can be smug about the position we are currently in, with the defence being as appalling as it is. It undermines everything. Saying this doesn't mean I've wet my pants (GOBE take note).
If silly bollox continues to play deeney up front and Pr*dl and Mariappa at the back it is conceivable we wont pick up another point from the remaining games
I think there's far too much pessimism here. Play like we did today against Huddersfield, Palace and Newcastle and we'll get nine points. Kabasele being back will make a difference as he actually attacks the ball and has pace and we've played some lovely stuff going forward despite Deeney being on the pitch.
Kabasele could be the key to our survival, because IMO his return should considerably strengthen our defence. As Kabasele was probably our best defender this season before his injury, so if he returns in any where near his pre injury form we should hopefully stop leaking silly goals, and pick up a win or two.
Doesn't surprise me - Hughes loves playing Wenger and Arsenal are due an iffy league result. EDIT: Arsenal draw level anyway .
Ordinarily I'd agree but if there's one thing we've excelled at this season, it's dropping points when we've played well and/or been in control of a game. All you have to do is stay in the game against us, throw the kitchen sink late on and more often than not, we'll crumble. Weirdly, it's also our go to tactic to try to take control of a game late on. Stick the two fat lads up front and get it in the mixer.
