Gino has popped an ad in today’s Times. Short article entitled ‘Watford on sale’ says he is ‘understood to be open’ to selling a minority stake and that the search for new investment may be helped by revenues of £66.2 million and a profit for last season of £24.5 million. ‘Few Championship clubs can boast such figures’, it says, and notes also a sharp drop in the wage bill.

 

That's not how I read the add I saw

I don't remember the title but the first line read '59 y/o, married, looking for outside interest at weekends.'
There was something about being 'financially solvent due to a savvy business brain' while a 'recent reduction of staffing levels' means he has both the 'time & means for some quirky & spontaneous fun, whatever the consequences.'

I may have been reading a different section of the paper though

I think it's clear that AL is the sole reason we are not strolling to the title this season and won't be playing in Europe in 2 year's time. With that one act of selfishness he has jeopardised our whole future.

Thanks. Yes as suspected the guy is a fruit loop. He just rehashes reports and put it into his own words. He’s desperate to be a journalist, but only manages to get to his bedroom laptop. He’s a little sad, but harmless. He was under the alias Daniel Maloney and has changed his name several times since, hoping we don’t notice.

It’s safe to say, only the facts are correct, which are taken from The Athletic, any of the “our sources” stuff are from Walter Mitty.

 

Originally he started under the name 'Daniel Moroney' which is a hilariously appropriate aptronym. Not sure whether that was pointed out to him, hence the change, or if it was pure coincidence.

 

Meantime- Ipswich-helped by their lofty league position/potential promotion to PL and that US investors already owned 90% have secured more financial backing.

Luke Dowling was just on Talk Sport, at the end of the interview he said he’s currently working for a PE firm helping a UNHW who is looking to buy an English club, and they’re apparently in negotiations with three English clubs.

It’s probably not us, but at the same time he has strong links to us so may have put us forward as a potential option.

He talked a lot about us and apparently he was a consultant to the club at the time Edwards came in and was responsible for putting him on a short list (can’t remember if we knew that or not, but it highlights the links he has with the club).

 

A United Nations Humanitarian Worker? They probably won't have much money to invest if that's the case! FML!

 

I didn’t get time to write down the name of the company he is working for and the name of the person, but will try and listen back at some point, it was the very last thing he said.

 

Think he meant UHNW (Ultra High Net Worth) investor.

 

I know what he meant to say, I was making a joke about what he actually said.

 

I suspect refugees will be quite cheap and so we may have 4 or 5 in the team next season.
