Almost like a certain journalist went early on their story because they’d made a number of baseless ‘takeover/investment’ stories before, annoyed everyone involved and then thought ‘f*ck it, I’ll even name them’ and made relations worse.

Joke is, the party that they were talking about weren’t even front-runners in any investment deals.

 

What have you heard (without names) about the potential front runners?

 

If the company were really intending to complete the takeover and were nearly finished with making the deal, I'd be very surprised if such an article will have made the make or break difference.

As I said previously, whilst some mild discussions have taken place with more than 1 party….

Leventhal has been creaming over this story for a long time (look at his historical articles on it) and there’s always been very little substance. He’s gone with the ‘stopped clock’ approach…the more I say it, it will eventually be true. And I’ll do the thumbs up emoji if/when it is.

And he bolted early on his latest story. Even going on podcasts to give the big ‘I am’ when he reality he knew nothing of note - he even blew the cover of one party who specifically said a big part of their discussions was the condition of anonymity.

It’s pretty horrible reading posts on social media from fans clearly concerned - but many leaving it with caveat of ‘hopefully this US investment is imminent/end of season’ etc and absolving Gino of blame as a result.

There’s no imminent investment. The club could have shut the story down a long time ago. But it suits them not to do so - whilst knowing it’s not coming. Great distraction.

 

Not disputing this last bit but surely if the talk of them being hosted by Gino at the Chesterfield game is right their desire for anonymity wasn’t rock solid?

And how long will it go on for. Half the posts on WD18 says along lines of “would take top half and the new investment to happen”. Everyone seems sure it will happen based off one article.

 

I wouldn’t mind but these people will just move the goalposts come September when the squad’s worse off, Ngakia has just signed a new 5 year deal, the remaining talent has left the building to repay Macquarie and there’s still no sign of any new investment or change of ownership.

There was talk last night by the NITK’s on DNSYE that the investors have pulled out after AL spilt the beans.

If true, I wasn’t convinced they were the best bet anyway, so maybe a good thing as it could have been a case of out of the frying pan into the fire.
