And as I said, there is also the value of the club itself, it’s not like Blooms £400m has gone into a black hole. Transfer market has their squad valued at about £420m alone.

I also vaguely remember @reids post you refer to, but I also vaguely remember in the same post them mentioning they may start to turn a proper profit soon as well, maybe they can clarify?

Well based on their 2022 and 2021 numbers, they'd have lost c£40m in 2022 and £60m in 2021 without profits on player sales. That's a huge gap to cover each year by selling your best players whilst remaining competitive.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for us to be in their position, I just think there are easier and safer ways to make a profit if you're a hard nosed investor rather than a very rich fan !!

They've definitely turned a corner in terms of player sales due to a few big money sales, that is a big part of their strategy, but it relies on them getting it right. And as @The undeniable truth said - they have made some expensive errors in the past (Jahanbakhsh - bought for €22m, sold for €1m, Locadia - bought for €17m, released on a free, Propper - bought for €13m, released on a free). It's whether they can keep getting those more expensive buys right (Pedro, Balaba etc), whilst still supplementing that with the cheaper buys (Mitoma, Ferguson, Adingra) that increase in value. But they've still got a lot of very sellable assets, it's likely Ferguson will go for a lot in the near future and probably have a lot of suitors for Mitoma, Enciso, Adingra, Buonanotte etc

Brighton are run by lizards? Who knew?

    Trust they are being monitored.

I am not anti Pozzo. Overall their involvement with our club got us out of a difficult situation and we have enjoyed a period of competing at the top level. When they took over, they had a somewhat unique system and scouting network and it paid dividends. Now that so many clubs are seeking to do the same thing, our niche is gone. I agree with your words of caution for Brighton. Mr. Bloom, when pouring the funds into Brighton, must have at least considered that there is a strong possibility that he may not get all of his money back. Unconnected investors to a club, will not, and indeed should not, take such risks. We perhaps have re-found our level and we need to avoid the pitfalls of administrations and fire sales and, in my humble opinion, we should avoid pie in the sky leveraged investment models based on unachievable profits. But that will not be a call for you and I. Gino and Papa are the men who will make the call.

Isn't the success of the club the reason we support a team

No, I don’t think you support a club like Watford if success is the be all and end all and you’d sacrifice everything, including your morals, or the soul of the club to get it.

Do any of us support Watford because they’re successful, or were successful? I know I support them because my family were local and it got handed down to me.

if success, winning things and silverware are your ultimate aim above absolutely anything else then I think you could save yourself a lot of hassle, bother and heartache by just supporting someone else.

Even then it's wracked with issues. How happy are Chelsea and MU fans feeling today ?
Happiness is outperforming expectations. Stevenage fans will be happier today than our fans or MU/Chelsea fans.
However 2 years from now, after the relative sucess of this season, they will be miserable again after having their expectations raised.
    It's all bloody pointless really....

I mean Man City fans had till the money came in!

Aren’t fans who only support the winning teams “glory hunters “?

Very hard to continually get recruitment right over an extended period of time, it was only a few years back that everyone was marvelling at Southampton's ability to consistently replace their best players with other gems...

But "success" is relative - for a club like ours any season spent in the Premier League is a success. Even reaching the Champ playoffs is a success.

And for someone like Borehamwood or Stevenage, even being mid-table in the Champ would be a success beyond their wildest dreams.

But for a club like Man Utd or Liverpool, a season spent in the PL but not at least qualifying for the Champion's League is a failure.

Yes obviously, but if you want success at all costs, and don’t care how it’s achieved and by who (like the poster I was originally quoting) then you may as well just support another club to Watford.

I'm obviously aware that supporting a club like ours means you are unlikely to see success but if the opportunity came to to be a success, win something, get in to Europe etc then I would like to see it. This doesn't mean I want a Newcastle United type owner but if it meant having an owner with a few quid to invest to get us to that level I'm all for it

Came to our school to do a talk to the 6th form. Someone left a curly-wurly wrapper on his seat and he acted out his tv advert character.

Us, Udinese and Granada worked for a while. Then Pozzo sold Granada, the Premier League money started coming in and Gino has never known how to cope with it. He's ****ed us financially despite the club bringing in more money than we ever have. I've never known the club involved in so many court cases and disputes with other countries/teams and to be honest I just don't like the bloke.

Time for someone else to have a go.

    No silly!
    Everyone knows it's the mice!
    I didn't choose.
I was indoctrinated by both of my brothers making me recite " Walker, Welbourne,Williams,Eddy..." etc like my times tables or my Latin verbs!

I was even taken to Pompey when we lost heavily with Mike Trebilcock scoring at least 27.

    I had no choice.

    On we go!
