Just seen that Mike Newell is 33/1 for the job!? What the f**k? How does that no mark, jobless scummer even enter the betting at any level!?
Even better odds are us signing Terry I saw somewhere we're 25/1 even Sky have us at 33/1 could be something in it. Unfortunately we are 40/1 to sign Defoe.
Whoever it is, can we wait until he actually does something of note before attempting to deify him this time please?
Was thinking the same myself earlier, especially as they clearly point out that the 2 in quick succession weren't sackings and a couple of others were the managers wanting to leave. Then I think to myself that they are just trying to sensationalise it more to make it more exciting/shocking to generate interest. Annoying as it is, their job is to make it interesting. Then you get all the idiot fans from other clubs picking up on it and commenting on Facebook feeds calling us entitled, dillusional and real Madrid wannabes when they have no idea other than what match of the day feeds them every week. Meh!
I mentioned this on another thread but I thought it might be better on here. I know it's a bit left field, but what about Japp Stam as replacement for WM, he's done a great job at Reading and I think he could go on to greater things? So why not give him the chance do those greater things at WFC!
id like to see Mancini or Silva from the list on oddschecker. Mancini I think would attract a better player but would he be able to do a job at a club the size of Watford? Silva is young and hungry seemed to have bright ideas and he worked wonders with Hull even if his away record was poor he punched above his weight with that club. But I've a gut feeling Oscar Garcia may get another chance as he's passed the interview once before.
Fulham tried with Felix Magath. He was dreadful, and liked to rub cheese on the players. On the subject of Germany options, admittedly he's now in the US, but Klinsmann has plenty of managerial experience, speaks fluent English, and presumably lived fairly close whilst at Spurs (?), so should be able to settle into the area reasonably well without the need for some lackey from the club having to do his shopping for him.
Only for Josh King, and maybe the safe return of our away shirts from 2010. Two seasons ago, they had a very prolific striker with the double-barrelled surname Kermogant-pen, but I see he's now at Reading.
I've heard Reading play fairly turgid football. I'd be more interested in David Wagner, pending the outcome of the play-off final.
We do get a bad press around changing managers, but we hear very little about Chelsea having 12 managers in the last 13 years, and they haven't done too bad! Arsenal fans would love to see the back of Wegner. The view about continuity of manager is often pushed by ex players like Graeme Souness, who are from an eara where managers often did stay for years. The world has moved on, and so should they.
Has Tommy Smith done his badges yet? This could be the opening we've been looking for to get him back to the club.
Completely different kettle of fish. Magath didn't work because of the fact he's German. Magath didn't work as he's an old school style of manager that simply wouldn't work in the PL (or most places these days tbf). Schmidt and the younger breed of Bundesliga managers are completely different, and if clubs are taking gambles on German managers simply because of Magath then I'd be stunned.
The shortlist should include Slav, Silva, Wagner (if Huddersfield aren't promoted) and Mancini. All the others already mentioned are just dross
I'm not particularly excited about Silva. No one had heard of him six months ago and, in reality, I don't think the job he did at Hull was that remarkable - he only looked impressive because he took over from the utterly hopeless Mike Phelan
Maybe it's time to abandon the role of Head Coach and appoint a 'dream team' like the Avengers or the Power Rangers. Slavisa Jokanovic - attacking coach. Quique Sanchez Flores - defensive coach. Sean Dyche - tactics. Dean Austin - Dean Austin. Aidy Boothroyd - chief of implementing Plan B. Gianfranco Zola - player liaison. They would always wear matching yellow suits and walk around in a flawless V formation.
For me it should be Wagner, Silva or, Joka. Definitely not sherwood !! Not Pardew. We really need a good coach who can get the players motivated, playing as a team with a plan they all understand and buy into.
Silva has a good CV but I would imagine part of the attraction too is his character. And he speaks decent English. Clubs rarely appoint two consecutive managers of similar background and character. Silva appears to be a lot of things Mazzarri wasn't to an outsider looking in , such as approachable, flexible and genial. Having failed with the old school, autocratic hard man appointment, it would be perfectly logical for somebody like Silva to be top of the Pozzo wishlist. I know where Lloyd is coming from with his post. There could well be a touch of 'emperor's new clothes' about him. But actually his CV before Hull isn't shabby. Common consensus is he did a good job up north too, although he failed to keep them up. I can see the attraction.
