    The new manager thread on the palace forums is now at 118 pages, (OK they're only on 12 posts per page and about 300 adverts, but what the h*ll). Just shows how fortunate we are when their current best bet is Martin ONeil. Pray4Palace.

    It goes on and on like a nun's knickers doesn't it?!

    Unlike their pages as you say,which are tiddly poo!

    Mr IBB is not optimistic and is keen for me to apply. I may do so tomorrow after I've been to Waitrose but only if Roland Garros is dull.

    I will print off Reid's piece on Schmidt and crayon in my name over his I think,possibly take some hair products for Parish,to sway him.

    What's good is that we've got our man sorted (maybe even the man that the Palarse wanted) while they're still fumbling about. Makes us look very professional and them amateurish by comparison.

    And, although Silva might not be officially starting until 1 July, you can be sure he's already doing plenty in the background. We're ahead of the game ...

    I did some business with the Russkis back in the day.

    Shortly after Perestroika, cleaned up and got out quick. S.A.S job we call it."He Who Dares Wins"

    Got to hand it to the Abramovich chap, he really knows how to play the game.

    You may not be a Watford fan, well you don't seem to be but you are the most optimistic person on this forum which is quite refreshing to be honest.

    Slutsky was never the right fit for a family club like ours. Thought he would have gone to Palace due to the cheerleader connection.

    I spent three nights at Hull Travelodge for our game up there last season.
    I have to take issue with what you are saying.
    1. The architecture was truly amazing,
    2. I drank more than most of the locals did.
    3. The women were stunning.

    Did point 2 have any bearing on your perception of 1 and 3?

    I see the DM and other media outlets are now claiming that Silva was Palace's number 1 target and Palace only lost out on Silva because Parish was on holiday. Got to laugh at the media when we make them so mad they make up anything to try and put us down.

    To add a little class to this thread I submit this poem, written in 1639

    There is a proverb and a prayer withall,
    That we may not to three strange places fall;
    From Hull, from Hell, from Halifax, 'tis this,
    From all these three, Good Lord, deliver us.
    This praying proverb's meaning to set down,
    Men do not wish deliverance from the town;
    The town's named Kingston, Hull's the furious river;
    And from Halifax's dangers, I say, Lord, deliver.
    At Halifax, the law so sharp doth deal,
    That whoso more than 13 pence doth steal;
    They have a gyn that wondrous, quick and well,
    Sends thieves all headless unto Heaven or Hell.
    From Hell each man says Lord, deliver me.
    Because from Hell can no redemption be.
    Men may escape from Hull and Halifax,
    But sure in Hell, there is not heaier tax.
    Let each one for themselves in this agree,
    And pray – from Hell, Good Lord, deliver me

    How does that put us down? The DM article makes Palace look amateur and incompetent while Gino sounds spot on with his negotiation.

    When you have hair as luxurious as Parish you need multiple holidays to maintain it. Also I expect he had to be surgically removed from Mark Bright so was unavailable.

    Agree with you on that. My point in them putting us down is basically them saying, had Parish been here and not on his holiday then Palace would have landed their number 1 target meaning Silva would have rejected us. To me that is just comes across as a dig and a put down.

    It would seem that the reason Silvas agent was desperately calling Palace whilst negotiation with Gino was so he could drive up his wage demands by getting an offer from palace as well .

    I make you both right. The article is a put-down aimed at us AND ALSO makes Palace look amateur and incompetent

  22. I see palace have got their man. Haven't seen much of him for absolutely years, probably since he had the hit 'lady in red' back when I was a young'un.

    I have a soft spot for his Rupert Hine produced work I must confess.

    Can't imagine how "Don't Pay the Ferryman" sounds with a Dutch accent.

    Possibly but the Dutch are quite opinionated on football matters,both as players and coaches.

    Time will tell.
