Although not as Manager, but why not have Kenny Jackett back as youth coach/manager if he does well the chairman will take notice and maybe be a First team coach contender in the future!
When you look at the position Hull were in at the start of the season and when Phelan left, I'd say it's very harsh to suggest Silva did a bad job, just because they got relegated. Their team was utter horse droppings.
As he was educated at Harvard I guess he does. Probably at a far more competent level than Troy Deeney.
I think Ranieri - wasn't he at one of our games a few weeks ago - wouldnt be happy with this choice No matter how much he wants the job I don't want Mourinio Only logical choice is Joka
It won't be Ranieri, Slutski or Mancini according to this report. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...lva-replace-walter-mazzarri-face-competition/
Thank God. I would absolutely love us to bring in a young coach like Silva and give him the time and support needed to implement a clear philosophy and build something long-term here.
For probably the first time in my life I find myself hoping the Telegraph are right about something. Didn't see that coming.
It's absolute ******** isn't it? There must be British managers out there, with potential or otherwise to build something.
My only concern with Silva is that he was given a licence to go gun ho for the 20 games Hull had left, to try to save their season. I wonder how good he will be over 38 games, building a side. His record in Greece and the Portuguese leagues looks pronominal, but realistically is there anymore than 2 or 3 decent sides in either league ? It's a little like the historical Celtic / Rangers situation in Scotland.
Up until now every manager we have signed has been out of contract so some of the managers we have been talking about are out of the question Eddie Howe, David Wagner etc, etc. these clubs would almost certainly ask a fee and lets face it the Pozzos dont pay for managers. Other names are well out of our league Mancini, Peregrini are far to expensive for us. If i was going to have a bet it would be an Italian well linked to the Pozzos like francesco guidolin
Yeah. Like Ryan Giggs, he deserves a chance at a Premier League club because he's Ryan Giggs and he doesn't manage in the lower leagues.
Heard horrible rumour from somebody supposedly ITK that will be Pardew Absolute ******* and in the end hated by the Palace fans even though he is one of their own
How about one from left field Graig Shakespeare! Apparently it is not at all certain he is going to be offered the Leicester job on a permanent basis, so why not try and make a move for him?
Point 1. Clearly a big benefit and I'd say it links to point 2. Changing room issues are likely to be magnified by language barriers, regardless of the basis of any issue. I think the one thing todays decision has shown is that speaking English is a huge deal. Conte learnt that at Chelsea early and reaped the rewards. Also, all the backroom WERE Italian...they are leaving too. Point 2. The players haven't shown a lot of commitment in recent games.
Silva announces to the press he will sit down with the Hull board after Sunday to discuss his plans. Mazzarri goes after Sunday. Put two and two together and you get our next Head Coach.
Timing makes perfect sense to me. We were only technically safe after Sunday, so getting rid before would've attracted all sorts of media ctirisicm, yet I'm sure they knew they wanted him out so there was equally no point in waiting until after the Man City game when they can start getting the new man in now. That gives them more time to settle in and look at the new players they might want bringing in (not that they'll get much of a say in it!)
I have heard him speak a couple of times and had a brief chat in my flimsy Italian! He is am impressive speaker and you are in no doubt as to his ambitions. He was very charming but I would imagine he is not the sort of person one would cross!
All I hope is that we make a quick appointment so whoever comes in has the Summer to get himself and the team settled in and ready to hit the ground running next season.
He'd make a great Bond villain. 'You expect me to talk?' 'No Mr Bond, I expect you to understand that by investing in the infrastructure, that this means we are here for the long term, ok?'
Another thing I get quite pissed off when SSN and most football pundits make such a big thing about us having 8 managers since the Pozzo's took over, and although that is technically true, I think at least 3 of those managers should be discounted from that list. When any new owners take over they nearly always want to bring in their own choice of manager, therefore I think Dyche should not be included as he was already at the club and was almost inevitably going to leave . The other 2 are the guy that left almost as soon as started because of illness, and his replacement as he was only supposed to be an emergency stand in until we found a permanent replacement. Five managers is still quite a turnover, but as I said although technically there have actually been eight, I think the actual situation behind it all could be better clarified when the media bring it up.
