I’m all for taking our time to get it right, but what we were anticipating being a hectic 5 or 6 weeks is turning into a bit of a snooze fest.

There's a new Athletic article. Can anyone summarise the main points?

 

Giraldi IS being replaced by Cristiano Giaretta as technical director, although Giraldi is still going to be around, but more in a scouting capacity. Eric Roy is facing an uncertain future.

Zlatko Dalic and Claude Puel are no longer under consideration, but Ivic and Struber are. Other names mentioned are Hughton, Eustace and Lee Johnson. One person under consideration was former Mexico and Paraguay coach Juan Carlos Osorio, although he's dropped down the pecking order.

The reason for the delay is because everyone is taking a break. No announcement likely until next week at the earliest.

 

Reading the article in The Athletic, I noticed that John Eustace was mentioned, as he has been previously, when we’ve been seeking to make a managerial appointment.

I think Ivic is looking like quite a likely choice, given he’s put together a relatively impressive body of work, and he’s out of contract. If this is the case, I wonder if Eustace would be brought in as his assistant. I’ve read a couple of things in the last few years referencing his growing reputation as a coach, and given the high standing with which he was held here as a player, I can’t help but think he’d be an ideal character to have around the squad, with experience of the league valuable to a coach in a new league/country.

Can’t imagine Eustace would be considered for the head coach job at this point, so I can only assume he’s been mentioned because he’d be coming in as an assistant.

 

Getting Eustace involved - I would be right behind this.

Without doubt. He would certainly be a popular choice amongst the fans. He was a leader in so many different ways at this club and that's what's needed again.

Not close to making an appointment, and seemingly want Struber - but he and ourselves are sussing out the conditions.
Ivic is the easier but not No.1 option but other names being considered.

And crucially, Giraldi not part of the team working on the search/appointment.

If it's true that Struber's assistant manager, Maximilian Senft, has left to manage Pinkafeld in Austria, couldn't that significantly reduce Struber's potential attractiveness and effectiveness?

 

One of my favourite Watford players of all time, with maybe the whitest teeth of any player. Would love to see him on the coaching team.
