He does seem suited to centre back. He's massive, pretty slow, can't pass and has the positional awareness of a lamp post. In other words he's the perfect Watford centre back.
If Masina is to start as a centre back, I can't see how they'd do it in a two - surely they'll have him next to Cathcart and Kabasele in a three? No matter how bad WTE is (and he is the worst centre back ever to play consistently in the Prem) I can't see that playing a rushed back from injury left-back who isn't good in his primary position as one of an orthodox two having never done it before against the most aerially/physically bombarding team in the league is an improvement.
2-1 loss. Dennis will do his thing and get us ahead early but then our **** defence will give away 2 stupid goals. From set-pieces. Hopefully Ranieri does not play Troost again but he probably will. I would give anything to have Sierralta or Nkoulou fit again.
I really hope Claudio plays Louza instead of Kucka, I think only trying to match them for physicality would be a mistake, and would play into their hands. I think our best hope is outplaying them and I think we are capable of it. I have seen Burnley play in their last two matches and they look like they haven't got much creativity other than launching diagonals this would be basic stuff for most premier league sides to deal with but seeming as our defenders defend like a special needs under 12's team I assume they will cause us problems. A little bit of hope is that they didn't even score past Newcastle who have somehow managed to concede more goals than us.
I don't quite understand how we were so piss poor against Brentford. Surely we manage a pass or two in thia game and I'm hopeful we can get a goal and make Burnley do some huffing and puffing. But history suggests Burnley will strangle the midfield and eek out a 1-0 in a slogfest of a game. I'm more concerned about Bachman in this game than WTE. Burnley will just sling balls into the 6 yard box and stick one of their cloggers on him. So I'm going for Burnley 3-2 watford. Wood, Vydra, Bachman og. Dennis 2.
Judging from a training video, it looks like Sierralta was back into full training so hopefully he'll at least be on the bench.
Bachmann Kiko WTE Cathcart Ngakia Cleverley Kucka Sissoko Cucho Dennis King Elliot, Sierralta, Rose, Tufan, Louza, Gosling, Sema, JP, Fletcher. Burnley 3 - 1 Watford 'Orns!
I was rather hoping I'd return home to find this match and the entire season had been postponed due to UEAFA losing their fish bowl or not having paid the water bill. No such luck it seems. Oh well, perhaps tomorrow will bring a plague of locusts or the return of the killer spindly fish of 1864.
The one advantage of having teenagers is that my face is automatically set to this so no extra effort required ahead of Watford playing.
Burnley 2-0 Watford. We get typically dragged into playing their game, have a few half chances but never really lay a glove on them.
I was looking for that before it was uploaded - surprised it wasn't up already years ago! Didn't go to the game and missed the many highlights on Football League Extra the best part of 20 years ago because either I thought it wasn't on or fell asleep beforehand (it was on later than usual). That's one Watford match I've wanted to see for a very long time!
In literally any other scenario, I’d agree with your last statement. But it’s WTE This is why it’s absolutely fruitless hoping for Kabasele - not very good and even worse, he can’t stay fit. The club should be getting rid as soon as possible as he’s never available.
If Sierralta is fit enough for the squad then he has to start. He's the only centre back capable of dealing with Burnley's aerial threat.
