Tbf I don't think he claims to be specifically itk. More that he's an absolute football nerd and more likely to have seen various reports and sources about stories.

I have stopped liking him so much recently as he's become a bit of a CoG of late, but when it all goes **** up, he'll come back to the fold.

Also, it smacks of us filling from the bottom in defence, once again.

People who say 'he's fine for this level,' ignore the fact that to Pozzo that means 'he's fine.'

Rather than strengthen our defence meaningfully, we will be signing guff like this **** and then being stuck with them for the next 4 years as they prove themselves just as bad as the rest.

    Lessons have been learned etc.

Tend to agree, but it's all too late.

With all players fit, we're a better side than Burnley or Sheffield Utd in my opinion, but they're already out of sight.

You really wonder which players will still be here next season if we don't get promoted

Hopefully the core group of Kabasele, Kayembe, Cleverley, Bayo and Manaj will still be here.

Kiko Femenia spent his career outside England, had a couple seasons in the PL, looked out of his depth (according to some), then dropped down and was the best full back in the division.

I don't want to read *too* much into fan reactions, especially when a player is being publicly admonished by the manager. I remember similar sentiments when Success left, and he's doing fine at a higher level.

Is Ferreira on loan? I can't remember many times where we've had all of our loanees available at the same time so I'm not sure it'll be a massive issue tbh.

Like Perica, Zinckernagel, Lazaar and Sanchez? Hopefully he'd be moved on in the same way if we did get promoted.

I have no interest at all in how Success is doing now, but I do know that he was absolutely terrible for us at the highest level and the one below.

I'm pleased that the new recruitment team seem to have some sort of long-term plan rather than lurching from window to window. There's a core developing - Ferreira, Porteous, Kone, Asprilla - who should be here next season whether we're promoted or not. Young players with plenty of upside.

Focus now is on providing Bilic with short-term options to get us promoted this season (I'd like Hoedt on loan, for example, but not with a three-year obligation), but I like the way it's beginning to shape up.

I didn't say he wasn't. But it's evidence that just because the fans of a club have that view, doesn't mean he'll be a flop anywhere he goes.

I imagine all the people behind the scenes would also be in agreement that Success was poor here, not just the fans. As for his Udinese stint, maybe he is an assist machine, but on first inspection 2 goals in 37 games seems pretty poor for a forward?

    We shall see won't we?

Or we won't be promoted and it won't matter.

Not as down on this as many. But have only seem him play a handful of times when he was at Southampton, so that may be why.

I’d be surprised if Hoedt & Porteous isn’t an upgrade on WTE & Pollock though.

I don't love it, but another deal that proves things are being worked on in the background and can basically be done before we hear about them.

Don't have an issue with this at all - incredible in the air, left footed and played most of his career at a far higher level than this. Nearly 150 top flight games and 6 caps for Netherlands I'd like to think he's an upgrade on Pollock. 4 solid options now at centre back.

Hoedt and Porteous are two good signings for where we are now.

Permanent signings who will be good enough for the Championship and one will potentially be good enough in the PL and the other will be a decent PL back-up (better than Kabasele, WTE, Pollock, etc).

Hopefully, if we do go up, we sign a young, first team ready CB to go with them.

New CB, Porteous, Hoedt & Sierralta will be better options than our last PL season (Kabasele, WTE, Cathcart, Sierralta).

Are Watford actually going to announce the signings of two centre backs on the same day? Incredible scenes, in Gino we trust.

Yes. I didn't say he was excelling, I said he was doing fine. The fact he's started the majority of games for a side 7th in Serie A suggests that's probably the case.

Definitely an upgrade on those two, but presume both will be expecting to play regularly. Are they an upgrade on Sierralta and Cathcart ? Not saying they aren't, I just don't know.
Will be interesting to see what the first XI pairing is in 3 games time.

Don't read too much in to the 6 caps. They were 6 years ago for a side that failed to qualify for the world cup. Agree he's an upgrade on some of the CBs we have already though.

I have never been more certain that a player was going to be unstoppable than Success. After his sub appearance v Bournemouth I’d have put good money on it. Even 2 years later I still could not process why he was not tearing it up!

Why do they keep playing him then? He's clearly doing something right and bringing something to the team, given their successful season, even if he's still not prolific.

No idea maybe they have nobody else. My summary would be he was dreadful for us and can’t hit a barn door for them over a 7 year sample size.

If you want to argue he’s a good player then knock yourself out!

Hmmm... he may of fit in well when our club was full of players with ego's the length of Occupation Road. Hopefully (if this really is true) he can tone some of that down and keep his head in the game on and off the pitch. Don't need anymore pre-Madonna's at this club like Richarlison or Pereya.
