Mmmm. Depends where you live. If you live in Mexico City, Mumbai or Birmingham you’ll need to boil it for at least 3 minutes prior to consumption.
So I put the house in the country on one result and the house in town on the other result. Just to be safe I will put the villa in Tuscany on a draw.
I agree. The Rookery roof has too many leaks these days. Hopefully we can hang on until full time without getting soaked.
I don't think we can win 3 games in a row, it just seems inconceivable, and I usually try to be optimistic. 1-0 to Millwall in a dour ghastly game.
Skeptical about this one. We were hopeless against them last season and the last couple of matches we’ve been relying on key decisions going our way and individual wonder goals. Think our recent run of luck will run out today unless we actually find a way to dominate the game.
I’m going into this one with a bit of optimism for the first time in a while . That could be dangerous. Weve looked a bit more solid in the last few matches and maybe able to cope with millwall than last season, but let’s see . interesting choices ahead for VI on whether to bring Ken back in from the start . I prefer him on the left but wouldn’t drop Martins .But can’t see him switching Martin’s to the right.
Some bittersweet memories of playing Millwall home and away. Boxing Day 1991. Pestered my Dad in the run-up to Christmas to go to the old Den, ruining family Christmas in the process. Drove through a mostly deserted central London, down the A2 and parked in some terrifying side street next to some wasteland and walked to the ground. My memory of the old Den is that it was falling down and full of fences. We were in relegation trouble at the time but won 4-0. The home fans were not happy and the walk back to the car afterwards was not especially enjoyable. August 1992. Opening game of the season at Vicarage Road. The first competitive game after the new rule banning goalkeepers from handling the ball from backpasses had come in. Perry Suckling was in goal for us. Neither keeper was terribly good with their feet and there was a lot of clearing it off the pitch to be safe rather than sorry. We won 3-1. October 1993. We played them twice at the New Den in the space of five days. On the Saturday we lost 4-1. On the Wednesday night we were back there (this time in the dark) for a League Cup second round second leg tie. 0-0 from the first leg, it was a humdinger of a match. 3-3 after 90 minutes. Lost 4-3 in extra-time. Furlong and David Holdsworth were both sent off. December 27 1994: Another depressing, dark not-very-Christmassy trip to SE London, one day after beating Portsmouth at home. We lost 2-1. That's the last time we played two games in two days. It really was proof you could have too much of a good thing. Good Friday 1995: A televised game at Vicarage Road, which we won 1-0. Geoff Pitcher scored the only goal of the game. A very dear mate of mine (sadly no longer with us) made a bet that day that Pitcher would one day play for England... Well, he did win at Wembley once. The FA Trophy for Kingstonian. I never got round to collecting my winnings. December 1995: Millwall were top, we were fourth bottom. Paul Wilkinson, back on loan, got a heroes reception and was offside approximately 300 times in 90 minutes. Kevin Phillips scored twice as we won 2-1. Our season didn't get much better. Roeder got sacked, GT and co came back but couldn't save us and we went down with the Luton. Astonishingly, Millwall went into freefall after that game, winning just four more times in the league and went down with us. August 1996: Hot favourites to go back up from the third tier, we faced Millwall in our first league game of the season, followed by Plymouth at Vicarage Road four days later. We lost both games 0-2. March 1997: Our play-off chances were looking good after we won 1-0 at the Den thanks to a Tommy Mooney goal. We ended the day 4th in the table, just four points behind leaders Bury. As we celebrated in the upper tier, I glanced across at the Millwall fans, a couple of whom were pointing at me and my mate and making friendly cut-throat gestures. When we got outside the ground, the police held us back – helpfully allowing the Millwall fans to gather mere yards away, identifying their target. Sky's Soccer AM host Helen Chamberlain was among the Watford fans that day and she was getting all sorts of abuse from the Millwall supporters. All of a sudden, the police line broke and we were left to our own devices. Me and my mate tried to fast-walk down a side street where a group of Millwall fans in their mid-40s (at least 20 years older than us anyway), asked us who our man of the match had been. Uh-oh. My mate said: 'Look lads, you've got the wrong guys here, we're not interested.' One of the Millwall fans – the oldest and wobbliest – said: 'I don't care if you're not interested,' and threw a very slow punch at my mate, who caught the clenched fist in the palm of his hand. We legged it, they chased us until their wheezy, wobbly bodies gave up on them and we got back to the safety of my car. Fun day out. September 2011: I had a ticket but my evening plans changed and I decided not to bother. We won 6-1. Typical. Hopefully sparks some other memories.
Sorry you had to go through that in 1997. Millwall in the late 1990's certainly wore the tagline of the thugs of football fans in England, closely followed by Leeds of course. I remember the 6-1 win at the Den very well as I was there. They hadn't lost at home for ten months, we rock up (playing well away from home to be fair) and destroyed them. I think Mapps scored, Martin Taylor got one as did Sordell, Graham and Eustace. Cannot remember who the sixth goal scorer was. It was 4-1 at half time and pretty crazy scenes in the away end as you can imagine.
I'm really impressed with your powers of memory. I remember going to the old Den some time in my mid teens with a couple of mates. We were slightly late for kick off so rushed in through the turnstiles. We could hear the Horns fans singing so pushed through the crowded terrace to get to where the atmosphere was and I was just about to join in the WFC chant when i noticed lots of people around me in blue colours. It turned out the Watford support was behind a fence on the same terrace and we were the wrong side of the fence. One of my mates had a Watford scarf which was noticed and commented upon rather rudely. Fortunately we were able to push through to the bottom of the terrace and get escorted in to the Watford end before anyone had a chance to react from the shock of 3 teenage boys taking the Millwall home terrace.
Faustino's lad and King Ken starting then. Incy Wincy junior and Matty M drop to the bench. Bayo WILL score today. Quote this later.
He had a three game ban initially, but the EFL charged him again for his reaction to being sent off. So he'll be available for Udders'.
Probably our best team at the moment. There may be better individuals around though. It is funny that nearly all of those included, have been critisised at some point rather heavily, that they are just not good enough. It may, after all, matter that the manager has a chance to work out and build. I hope it continues even if there come some bad results every now and then.
Part of the issue is that lately a number of our players have been doing better coming off the bench than when starting.
