If one of our players manage to smash the ball into Thomas Frank's face then they'll get my player of the season vote. If we even have one...

Oh cool. Thanks for the correction :). Well that's even better, lose to Brentford tomorrow and as we've smashed another one. Watford - breaking records for all the wrong reasons 21/22.

Not going to waste my time watching these losers for the rest of the season.

    Watford 0-9 Brentford

Tough day for Toney with only 7 goals.

    What about 'Sainsbury Girls?

More appropriate if we had 'Don't Pay the Ferryman'.

I expect Medea to be in charge of the junior hornets any day soon.

Apologies. Normally the match threads are very different to this one with stories of kidnapping, favourite cheese, lucky pooing etc. Unfortunately this season has worn us down and now we just argue like an old married couple

I think the key bit is whether the players look like they are trying or care. We’ve had plenty of terrible seasons with poor teams and managers in L1 and L2 but even then they were giving it a go. One of my favourite seasons before recent success was 97-98 when we got relegated from L1 but you could see that everyone was giving it everything (still annoyed at Watford stealing the win at Griffin Park!).

Maybe that’s the real problem with the otherwise surprisingly successful approach you’ve had of buying loads of players and changing manager twice a season- there are few people on the football side who care enough about the club and its fans because they’re not encouraged to get very comfy.

I get your point about the players caring, and that is exactly our problem. Take our comic relief goal keeper. Ben Foster can be very good and professional, but this is his final season and he knows that. It's not a job for him, it's a social media click bait. Any goal keeper that gets rightfully goaded by their own fans' for not even trying to save a shot, before turning to them and grinning with a smirk is just the tip of the iceberg.

You can go through our squad this season from top to bottom, and I can probably tell you very few will be bothered when our pending relegation is confirmed in a few weeks. We know players don't stay at clubs for long spells anymore bar a rare few, and they move on to others to further their career. Don't have a problem with that. What Watford fans' do have a problem with, this season in particular - is the laid back attitude to defeats, and managers who stick with the same system game after game when it's clearly not working. One of our best performances this season surprisingly was not a victory.

We lost to Chelsea 1-2 at home and played really well - as a team. In the first ten or so minutes, Chelsea could not get the ball off us. We pressed hard and stayed in the game all the way till the end, almost scoring a very late and perhaps deserved equalizer at the death. Despite winning at Southampton and Aston Villa, we have been in a downward trajectory all season. I know I sound like a female version of Victor Meldrew - but it's honestly how myself and probably several other Watford fans' feel. Things will hopefully get better in seasons to come and we can develop a new side with a bit of heart and passion for the shirt.

Unexpected but ultimately meaningless? Sounds a bit like your brief moment in the PL sun.

You know what’s happening next season, we know what’s happening next season. Christ, given some of his comments about his own club, even Ivan Toney knows.

But which bit? The M25 at Maple Cross is an entirely different beast to the M25 near Dartford.

A brief yet brilliantly bitchy tête-a-tête about the inspiration for a Chris Rea song that’s come about from someone making a crap pun about Middlesbrough/Hull/The M25 - all on the matchday thread for our game against Brentford at home.

I was beginning to think this forum might die after being sidelined for the Fans Committee. But this has given me faith that it’s still alive.

Fan of newly promoted team in; ‘we beat a top six team and The Guardian wrote something pretentious about our flavour of the month manager so I’m acting like Charlie Big Bananas and ignoring the fact that it’ll inevitably come crashing down in under 12 months…’ Shocker.

When you support a massive club like I do you need to put these chumps in their place. Protect the status quo, you know?

It'll probably be something boring like Gosling and Ngakia on the bench. Would be nice if Morris, Baah or Forde got in the squad though.

Some help needed. I’m staying in Battersea with my wife for the weekend. Usually stay in Watford for games. What is the quickest way to Watford by train tomorrow? Tried goggling it and there are 305 options. Need to get back to the city afterwards asap too? Any advice welcome.

Seeing as we've royally ****ed him all season by giving him no game time and no loan, I guess he's probably (quite understandably!) kicked up a fuss about getting some kind of action before the end of the season

I've asked Ford Dante Pericles Coleridge if he expects to be on the bench tomorrow.
He raised his tail dismissively and wandered off to the cabbage patch to watch the bird feeders.
    Probably means he's playing.

  34. How close are you to Clapham Junction? Normally you could get a train straight through to Watford High St, but due to works you'd have to change at Willesden Jn.
