Ticket App

This is what I did and the kids are now set up with theirs.

I've worked on how customers use apps for years and this is beyond cack handed, especially given the fact that a football crowd really is a cross section of society, not just a load of tech mad hipsters. We are also assuming that the hardware and software running the readers, validation and turnstiles works on the day.

Not sure if my battery will last from leaving my house fully charged to getting into the ground either.

I'm far from inept. I work in tech sales and there's no way I'd be able to pitch and sell this unfriendly system to a company that cared about how their customers would be able to use it

Are they in your name? I had to download mine from my log in, then create a log in for each of my kids' IDs and download theirs from there.

 

Yeah, I also reset my password, but no joy.

 

Email the ticket office. They replied to me within a day.

 

Does a friend need a Fan id for me to send them tickets for a match I can't attend?

 

My dad was told (yesterday) his would go in the post on Wednesday.
I really don't understand why everything is so late, Saturday is going to be a nightmare in the ticket office.

 

I anticipate a capacity crowd by 1pm.

First game after 18 months (for most) is probably not the best time to roll out a new ticketing system.

 

Might have to be in the ground before the boozers even open. What a fuucking joke.

I just purchased 2 away tickets for Spurs and you can distribute them. below is the text from the distribution page.

You can distribute your ticket(s) to other supporters by selecting “Distribute” and entering the recipient’s name and email address. They will receive an email with an attachment containing a link to download as an NFC Mobile Ticket to their digital wallet platform. Distribution is available to all tickets owned by your Fan ID and any supporters you share a “Strong Relationship” with in your purchasing network.

 

Oh, and i was able to select what seats i wanted.

 

When the paper ticket arrives you can give it to whoever you what

That’s how it’s supposed to work. Match by match downloads through the season against your season ticket. Just like the old days when you used to tear them out of a book.

 

Good to see technology advancing us and making things more efficient

If only we could just keep using the season card we already had!!

 

I haven't attempted any of this yet. Was going to leave it to my son to work out when he turns up on Saturday before we begin our traditional pre-match bender. Sounds like that'll be cutting things fine. I would have bet everything on this being a f**k up. Why can't the club ever get things like this right?

 

I am working on that assumption. I have a spare ticket for Wolves at home, and I expect whoever I bring along will need to register for a fan ID and I'll need to add them to my list so I can assign it to them.

 

Why is this such a big deal?

I can’t remember the last sporting event I attended out here with a physical ticket. It’s been on my phone for years.

If the hillbillies over here can figure it out, surely it’s not that complicated to implement efficiently? Are WFC just incompetent, or understaffed?

 

Having a QR code on you phone as a ticket is widely used and works well for many things. WFC going the extra step to NFC is past what most people are used too.

 

but when you go to assign a ticket, it does it by email, not fan ID - anyway - my friend set up IDs for himself and his two kids to use my tickets for the Villa game and says he's successfully downloaded them to his Apple Pay wallet, so he looks all set.

I'm away and glad to be missing what is sure to be an absolute **** show, both at the turnstiles and on the pitch.

 

Because of the way it's been implemented. I, like you, fully embrace the technology, but it simply doesn't work in this case.

Sure there are a few oldiewonks who don't understand or trust having cards or such on their phones, but I use my watch to pay for nearly everything under 45 quid.

However, in this case, the club created an app, abandoned the app, forced everyone to a pretty shonky website with poor navigation and then have created a system where people who've attended games for years as a family group, now have to be treated as completely separate and download tickets one by one from different accounts and that's even IF they can download them, because in many cases, the website does not allow this to happen. And meanwhile, the club have released some overly wordy and complicated statements, which are completely contradictory and contain demonstrably false information, showing that they, themselves, do not fully understand the workings of their system or how people can actually use it.

 

This is false. I had to log into my daughters' accounts to distribute their tickets, even though they show under my close relationships (and I under theirs).

 

Sorry to contradict, but the only tickets I could download to Google Pay, were the STs themselves. These now sit on my Google Pay app and I hope that I can just use them for all remaining games after Villa.

 

Id advise doing bender first and then starting tech side when you get the front of the queue and have had a belly full.

Cheers. Yes, I think it was an error on my part. In the calmer atmosphere of Aldi I kept my fat thumb away from the Home button and all was okay.

 

Mine has downloaded as the season ticket itself to Google Pay? No specific reference to the Villa game on it…

 

Same here with season ticket downloaded on Google Pay. My ticket account does also show the Villa ticket separately but the download option is greyed out, though the distribute option seems to be available. Maybe it’s working differently on Android v IOS?

 

Interesting. Mrs Willis and I are both iPhone users and the tickets that have downloaded to the Apple wallet are like single tickets “Watford v Aston Villa”. When I log into the ticket site I can see our season tickets listed under ‘Season Tickets’ but also the Villa tickets under ‘Match Tickets’, along with the Brighton away tickets we have bought. Who knows what will happen when it comes to the second home game?

 

My NFC ticket didn’t work for the WBA friendly, so I went to test my Villa ticket at the ground today.

Turns out I was holding it in the wrong place. You don’t put your phone in the ticket slot, you tap the area above it.

Just about ready to go for the season now with days to spare.

 

Managed to get my ticket on Google pay but I always have issues with NFC so I remain as optimistic about getting in first time as I do about the match...

 

Yes, Google Pay seems to show a season ticket, Apple Pay a single match ticket.
