In God’s own country of Bannau Brycheiniog, full of mountain sheep farming, it was amazing how many voted Leave for a ‘better deal for Welsh farmers’. Despite all the efforts made by my uncle (cariad i ti, Glyn RIP) and my cousin at explaining what would really happen, they voted Leave in their droves (excuse the pun). Seeing their dismay at how things have panned out is not pleasant and there is little desire for saying ‘we told you so.’
That's the thing. Rubbing the morons', who I define as those living in heavily leave-voting areas dominated by a industry that thrived in the single market (agri, fishing, vehicle manufacturers/assemblers), noses in it I don't do that. When they start whingeing about the betrayal of their Brexit and ignorance of the 'actual' effects of leaving the world's largest free-trade area with common production and safety standards - I smile inside and think: **** 'em - I find that it nearly compensates for my children's (and their children's) lost rights.
Obviously the good people of Wales didn’t find remainer claims that there would be a Gonorrhea epidemic very convincing. Perhaps they should look to the their national government for explanations?
There should be a bit of humility from those who gave enthusiastic support for Brexit’s deceptions. Now people are out of work and the UK is in long-term decline. Cushioned, well-off Leavers in protected roles, ought to have a whip round for those losing out.

No, it happened because a section of the Ruling Class threw its weight behind making it happen, courtesy of a 30 year campaign against the EU waged by their newspapers and by bankrolling eurosceptics with and without of the Tory Party, like Farage The Tory Party split was the most visible manifestation of that campaign, but it has always been about small state, anti-regulation politics as promoted by one large faction of the very wealthy.

Quibbling. The British Ruling classes have always been eurosceptic, wanting a bigger share for themselves, resenting EU control. They were kept at bay by more practical, business focussed and politically realistic Tories, but even in the Nineties, they did away with Major.
I'm not sure I agree. They have always been xenophobic, yes; but I think they were initially attracted to the free market possibilities that the EEC/EC presented (or was perceived to present). That changed, presumably, as the EU began to resemble something more akin to a super-state.

If you judge it by all the terrible things remainers said would happen, compared with what actually happened, I think it is clear that Brexit was an incredible success, succeeding in virtually every field that you guys said it wouldn’t. Your expectations make Brexit appear to be a most resounding success. My fave forum fright fest was when it turned out that not one of you, despite arguing over it for three years, had a scoobie what the EU’s ‘level playing field’ involved. Although those heady arguments about removing your own country’s negotiating powers runs it a close second.
This sort of reply just gets weaker by the day. Another week when things have got more expensive unnecessarily. Another week of the terrible Government Brexit enabled. The health service on its knees, even immigration has gone up hugely, one of Brexit’s key promises. And that was a ‘success?’ Ok.
The success was leaving the EU. The rest is fall out. And given that Germany, Italy, France and others, have all suffered worse than or similarly to us from “Brexit”, and continue to do so, I am happy to relax and say that things, as usual, are not the way this forum tends to describe them. But I am happy for you chaps to continue putting down your own country. After all. It’s only a forum.
What we have to remember too is that we were told that Brexit would make things better. Now it appears that being not quite as **** as some of the worse forecasts is considered a success! And of course the main reason it hasn't worked is because of the "blob" or because us remainers sabotaged it (despite one of the leaders of the Leave campaign being given an 80 seat majority, with every member on the government benches having given a pledge to support Brexit!). Why is it so hard for those that voted for Brexit to admit they were lied to and it was a mistake to leave? We can then all move forward and work towards fixing it.
We all admit you lied to us, and the post Brexit era demonstrates that beyond any shaddow of doubt. But will you guys ever admit you were lied to by your own side? Of course not. Because you appear to be uncomfortable with the truth, wherever it is being reported from. Can you admit that your own side lied to you and all of us? But the ultimate truth is, we voted to leave the EU, and everyone who voted for that got it.
