'Terrorist attack' in Woolwich

Early reports of an incident all over the news from Woolwich, London this afternoon where a serving solider was attacked and killed near Woolwich Barracks by two men. Witnesses saying they crashed a car, grabbed the bloke and stabbed him several times with a machete. Then dragged his body into the road and waited for the police to turn up. Police shot them both as they were armed with multiple knives/firearms. Apparently both are alive at the moment.

Sky News saying the Met are treating it as a terrorist attack and the government's COBRA committee is about to meet.

 

People on twitter say it was a beheading.

I listened to an eyewitness account, poor bloke and his partner will be traumatised for life after seeing it happen.

They've literally just said on BBC News that the two men were screaming "Almighty Allah" and it's already been confirmed that they are Asian's.

 

What political and religious connotations? Has this all been announced and no-one told Sky or the Beeb?

You asked if the religion of the perpetrators had been identified, and I think them screaming "Almighty Allah" whilst chopping a British solider to death with machete's confirms that they are both Muslim and terrorists.

 

Sorry Nath, they haven't been identified as the perpetrators as yet nor has it been confirmed that 'Allahu Akbar' was shouted. Sky and other media outlets have heard that from people 'at the scene'.

The media should be verrrrrry careful about what they are reporting right now.

He wasn't 'Asian'.

Why do some people see this as an opportunity to be racist?

It's horrific that this has happened. BUT you can't tarnish all Muslims with the same brush, as much as many people would like us to believe they are all terrorists, they are not. I've seen people calling for immigration to be stopped completely because of this? So because two people have committed a horror crime every Immigrant is bad, even those Doctors?

I know it's horrific, but lets not use this as an excuse to be racist.

Footage here for one of the alleged attackers. Sounds like he's from that distant land known as London, going by his accent.

I must have missed it being confirmed that these two people claim benefits.
