Seriously though, that looks a truly abysmal film.

 

Trailers aren't necessarily the best way to judge films either way (although not having heard of the Obree fairy tale until literally today, I personally saw enough there to make me intrigued) but it's not abysmal according to IMDb, it's got a 7.2/10 rating.

Rotten Tomatoes are more divisive though, with only 49% of the reviews being "fresh", the general consensus being his accomplishments and personality behind them aren't covered in sufficient depth, and in fairness the duration of 1 hour 36 min seems a bit short for covering such a major success story and apparently complex character (who sadly suffers from bipolar disorder and has attempted suicide three times).

I can never tell if you're a troll or not.

What did he do to warrant the booing the first time round? Did he deserve it? As far as I know, he had done nothing but be a competitor to Brazil's (only) golden boy of their Olympic campaign. This is not a Saturday afternoon down at the Vic with Joey Barton on the opposite team - this is the Olympics. You don't boo, especially when an athlete who has worked bloody hard to get the silver medal gets called up to the podium. Unless there is a specific and valid reason for the booing, that was pretty deplorable behaviour.

The commentator said that Alistairs time over 10,000 is something like 40 odd seconds slower than Mo Farrahs best time. That's incredible.

 

They are in front with 3rd runner about 20 secs behind. 5k to go. Looking like a Gold & Silver.

Nicola Adams in the boxing semi-final (guaranteed a bronze at least)
Jade Jones won her first round in the -57kg taekwondo, QF at 7:30. If she proceeds SF at 9:30 and final after 1am.
We have one person in the women's 10m diving final starting at 8pm but I don't think she's expected to get a medal.

 

So, the question now is do we think we can beat China into 2nd place?

 

Another great performance from Alistair. I was wondering near the end when he slowed down if he was going to let Johnny take it on the line but glad he didn't! Bronze in men doubles in the Badminton as well today.

 

Probably not. China will likely hoover up any remaining diving and Badminton medals. We'd probably need 26/27 golds and without many 'likely wins' left beyond Nicola Adams and Mo Farah, it's probably not possible.

To be ahead of them at this stage is a major achievement.

 

The Times said that no country has got golds in as many different sports in a single Games.

 

I'd be no good at a triathlon. I'm a decent swimmer and runner and best on a bike but I'd need a couple of minutes to towel myself dry after the swim.

 

Jade Jones, Nicola Adams and Mo Farah all look good for gold. Also the women's hockey team are in the final tomorrow night so that's a good shout for gold. If they all come good that would be 25 golds. I'm not sure of anything else other than boxer Joe Joyce who has his semi final tomorrow, he's guaranteed a bronze at least.

Got hammered in the 3rd quarter though, very lucky to be just 1 behind with 15 minutes to play. GB have got to up their game.

Can't say we really deserved it over the 60 minutes but well done!!! The Dutch were phenomenal but our keeper was equal to them.

 

Our goalie Hinch was a total class above.
