Personally I felt that 37 points might have been just about enough, but we would have been sweating on it. We needed to get to that 40 point mark this season to put an end to all the uncertainty.

Looking at the table today both Newcastle and Norwich could still end up on 37 points and only GD would have saved us.

Had we still been on 37 points, then our GD would have been a bit worse than it is now, but only by about 5 goals, so instead of minus 6 we'd have been minus 11, but well clear of Newcastle but could Norwich have overtaken us? They are on minus 27, and we would have been on minus 11. Say we take a bit of a hit today at Liverpool, losing by 4 goals, which is possible against that team, then we'd be on minus 15. It would then have made the Norwich game on Wednesday very nervy, as if we lost that game by let's say 3 goals, that's minus 18 to us and 24 to them. Leaving a 6 goal swing on the last day of the season, which still unlikely is not completely impossible.

Even if you discount that scenario I just mentioned, we'd have been biting nails though, right up until the final whistle at Newcastle yesterday, when they unexpectedly dropped 2 points at Villa.

Agreed, a 10 point deduction for signing Jurado still throws us right in to the mix

    Wow talk about hypothetical!

You've thought long and hard about a situation that will never ever come to pass. Well done!

With Muff, Sunderland, WBA, Swansea plus the 3 teams coming up we have more than fighting chance of doing what we have done this season and staying up. Have a feeling Howe will leave Muff for a bigger club and their little fairytale will come to an end. All teams will spend big this summer so we must make sure our buys are better than the scatter gun approach we employed last summer. The lads at Granada look useful and will add pace, youth and fighting spirit to our squad. Would like a few more British players. Will be a interesting summer as always

Thanks....but believe me I don't think long and hard before posting on a football forum.....that would be a complete waste of energy. :]]

    Damn right, I'm already worried.

That was probably the best most pointless post I have ever read on this forum (and this stretches back almost 10 years). I should be baffled as to why you bothered to post it, but actually I admire you for going through with it. Again well done, keep up the good [pointless] work....I think.

The most pointless in 10 years. That's some achievement. Do I win something? One of these perhaps?

Bit different to Flores - likes to attack but cannot organise a defence.

Both us and Everton need someone in the middle!

Thought I would bump this to brighten our day.

Hull currently beating the champs, we are in serious trouble already.

Leicester are so pedestrian, I think they'll find it tough when teams sit deep against them this season. Kante is such a huge miss and Andy King cannot be a long term solution - he's too lightweight and not nearly dynamic enough.

This actually looks like a typical Championship game.

I think Leicester will struggle big time this season, wouldn't be surprised if they finished around 14th

Definitely gone backwards looking at them today, think they can be added to the relegation mini-league, they look really ****e at the moment. Champions League football could finish them off.

I agree mate, I think they will struggle to balance both. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Mahrez leave at the end of the window.

Not worried about either on that performance but Hull were fortunate that Vardy left his shooting boots at home or they'd have been 2 or 3 down at half time ... Ref a definite homer too
